Going to Indy this week. Any one else going any where?

Since we arnt allowed in the gym, the car ride home gives me all the information about practice. I heard that Nebraska was at practice last week and that Virgibia Tech and Kentucky were in the gym last night. Thats pretty good. All the girls are being watched now instead of one or two. I think that since these coacches were there already, then others will be coming too. Can't wait to see who turns up at our courts in Louisville.

To all those that think I am pro K2 and anti KVA. I would love to hear the accomplishments and events that are happening at KVA. I think KVA is great for Knoxville. I also think KVA was great for K2. So lets hear from the KVA people. tell us how things are going and what's happening in your gym.

We are going to the Bluegrass tournament in Louisville. All K2 Elite teams are playing in the open div. Should be a pretty good tournament. If I'm hearing correctly from the girls, The 13,15 and and 17 Elite teams are all seeded #1 in their pools. Pretty good!

I didn't even know any teams from K2 and KVA played prior to this. It must have been 2 or 3 levels teams. We are talking Varsity. Yes the girls were very polite to each other. That's how it should be. Hopefully we'll get to see another K2 vs KVA match at the next power league. I will not bring it up if we win though. I don't want any one to get upset with me. I post when I want. I watch all my kids volleyball matches and in between taking them here and there I don't have much time to post. I try to post more since you miss me.

For the high school coaches that read this board. I heard all weekend how some High School coaches are mad because they say K2 coaches are telling us parents not to play high school. Let me tell you right here and now. NOBODY is telling me what my daughter should and shouldn't do!!! If my daughter wants to play HS volleyball then she will, if she doesn't then she will not. NO ONE at K2 has ever told anyone not to play high school. I asked all of our parents this weekend if anyone from K2 has told them not to play and all said "no".

BBV The two local clubs got together in a match this past weekend. The venue was the mideast power league. The k2 17 elite went 3-0 on Saturday and that put them against the KVA 17-1 team (their most talented team). The outcome was as expected 25-15, 25-19 K2. The first game was not close. the second game was a little close for a while and then K2 turned it up.Clubonly is correct when he/she says that one club wants to compete and get big time D1 scholarships while the other wants to play and have a fun experience. The 2 clubs may meet again in the 15/16 power league next time it comes up. The K2 15 Elite team was one win away from being ranked #1 in the nation this past weekend.

Looks like both Knoxville clubs are going to President day tournaments. K2 to chicago and KVA to Nashville. Anyone compare the two tournament schedules?

Good weekend for a lot of K2 teams. Most will not play this weekend. I was wanting our team to go to the A5 icebreaker and then I noticed that there will be no A5 1 teams at their own tournament. I guess we aren't going for a reason. Tournament field looks very weak!!

Bratman Could you copy your last post and put it in the Bearden volleyball topic. What you say in it is VERY impressive.

The one problem I see is that the News Sentinel has no idea of what is going on with volleyball in our area. I want to say they care, but every time I read the paper about volleyball it is a haphazard article. For instance. The pre season prep extra team had a girl on it from HVA that wasn't even on the volleyball team. Now they have in the paper that the libero from our school was an all state hitter. Who proof reads these articles? Do they REALLY care about volleyball or are they just going through the motions. The volleyball enthusiast in this area should push for the News Sentinel to CARE about volleyball. That's why I will be persuading mine not to play next year.

Bratman That is what should be done. That's why your school has a volleyball tradition. Bearden hasn't had a good volleyball coach for a long time. They still don't. The Bearden coach didn't even recognize the seniors at the end of the year banquet. No way he recognizes the All State Picks. Especially this year. Only one girl from our team made it. The amount of All State recipients from your school really shows that your volleyball coaches have built a strong tradition at your school. My hat is off to them!!

Congratulations to all the Knoxville girls! Volleyball in this area is becoming more and more important. I bet if you pulled up All State from 5 years ago it wouldn't have so many local players on it.

Yes. I was told that he gave offensive and defensive awards last year. I would hate to think that he didn't want to give certain players awards but I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. Never thought of it like that. Can't believe he would do that but then again I can. This would go hand in hand with the rumors that are out there. Now I'm thinking the rumors aren't rumors....BBV you really hit a nerve on this one.

Yes he gave some awards out after he got there. I was told he gave more out his first year. Didn't bother giving an offensive and defensive award out. That probably would have made him late for the end of his KVA meeting. Didn't talk about any of the seniors individually. He will next year though..Watch out who you walk over, they might just be standing at a door you need opened!

I Thought High School volleyball was good for the girls until this year. Now I realize why most people say it's not worth it. I don't know a good high school coach in this area. Maybe there are one or two, but surely they aren't at Bearden, CAK or Farragut. I know hands on about the Bearden coach. I've heard about the other two from parents. I hear the CAK coach used to coach at a small college. Well, we all know why you got from college to high school. I'm sure he says because that's where he was led. Doesn't that sound familiar. No One goes from college to high school unless...Well not gonna go there. You know what I mean. If there Big girl was msart she would train at K2 and not play for CAK. That's how she'll get better for D1 competition.

Clubonly..Bearden was the most talented team in the district when he took over!! Thanks to K2 volleyball players. He didn't even have to coach his team. All he had to do was put in a lineup. It's the same way at Farragut. She doesn't even have to coach. The one team that doesn't have a lot of club talent is catholic so I would have to say that their two coaches have to coach. When the old coach and the new coach beat tough teams it's because they out coach them. The Bearden coach doesn't out coach any one. Philly is right, I hear the same thing. That the girls learned more from one of their players than they did from their head coach. What does that tell you? K2ruth is correct. Bearden has been loaded for quite a few years. The only reason they are winning more is because the old coach played by the seniority rule. Her perogative but thats why they never went far. If you play the best players in this area you typically win.

K2Ruth, Who are you surprised BBV left out? Also who are your top coaches and what do you think about high school volleyball?

orcat...we KNOW you don't like J. You've said that multiple times now. Wonder if it has anything to do with play time and your daughter. Isn't most of the complaints about coaches playing time?You know a lot of parents think their kids are better than they really are. J and Chris asked Carmen to stay involved but she chose not to. It wasn't handled badly. They did the right thing and went to her with their ideas and she chose t walk away. There are 2 sides to every story.

Clubonly, Love your thoughts but there's one reason and one reason only why KVA was started. I'll let you answer this question because I know you will be honest. Yes or No. Would KVA be in existance now if the directors daughter would have been on the 1 team last season at K2. Your TRUE thoughts only. Actually you don't have to answer that. It kinda puts you on the spot and I don't want to do that. We all know the answer and if you tell the truth it may come back to bite you if your daughter plays at KVA..... There really is no reason for anyone to hide behind why they are starting a business. If you feel you are doing the right thing then just own up to the answer and stand behind it. Like I said before. It's ok to feel that way. Just stand behind it. I started the new club because my daughter was not put on the one team and she deserved to be. Thats easy. Not a bad reason. Just the truth.

Well, feb 1st weekend is a wilderness tournament too. So KVA could have sent their teams to that. Like Knoxdoyles says though "they would rather send their young teams to Nashville Alliance tournament than give K2 any money". I thought KVA was started through love not hatred towards your fellow man. It wasn't that coach Dave hated K2 was it? That's not what he has been preaching. Knoxdoyles, you tell the truth. Now that's what it's all about. Don't hide behind behind any other reasons. Just tell the truth. You're respected more when you tell the truth more than when you don't. I'm not saying KVA is wrong for not going to any of the wilderness tournaments. I would do the same thing. The difference is, I (like you knoxdoyles) would tell the truth from the beginning. We all know why KVA was started (which is fine) but don't hide behind the "Godly" reason when the reason isn't "Godly" at all. Thanks KD (knoxdoyles) for telling it like it really is. No hard feelings, you're just telling the truth and I respect that.

BBV, Yea i wasn't sure if it was rumor or not. I guess it wasn't since ORCAT says everyone knew weeks ago. She (orcat) must be pretty smart. I actually talked to a friend of mine a little while ago. The only person I knew in the volleyball community that would have the facts about this. For some reason he always knows before most people. He said Coach Mincy was let go this week. I asked him why. He wouldn't tell me. By the way he was talking I knew he knew more than he was willing to give up. I wish we could get him on this topic. I tried but he said he wasn't getting involved. Oh well. let's see what the people say about this. can't be good for KVA.
