  1. Both Hartley's, Stressman, Roberts, Morton, Holly's, Avery to name a few. All have a huge impact on this team. The fact is that young athletes want to be competitive and have a chance to win, Elizabethton gave the county kids the best chance to win, no recruiting needed. Would you rather play for a county school where you are getting put out in the first or second round, or play for a team that has a chance at state?
  2. Same goes for Greeneville and false starts.
  3. The WR made a heads up play, but the reason I stated it should be a targeting call is if you look at what is being called in college games as targeting that would fit. #81 could have been considered a defenseless player and that block could have been considered a crack back block which is now illegal, but my opinion means nothing it comes down to what the ref decides.
  4. I will agree that Elizabethton does have size this year on the line, but if CAK's D line is better than Scott County's it will be a long night for the O line. We had trouble getting the run going. It seemed like that #77 was in the backfield every play. As for the LB's they better keep their head on a swivel after that hit on #81 last week, which should have been considered targeting. For the RB's lets hope we can get a new game plan and see some different run plays this week.
  5. For any of the veterans out there reading this forum happy Veteran's day!!!
  6. If you are wanting Ridgewood on a Friday night you better get there early, especially if you want to go to the game!
  7. If you're wanting a burger you will probably want to stop somewhere on the way, lots of pizza and chic-fila sandwhiches to go around though. Elizabethton is still pretty balanced on offense, and as for the playmakers it changes week to week.
  8. Our band is funded by all of the concession profits and a few generous donations from some proud parents.
  9. Yeah Alcoa fans, you have a reason to be proud of your team and brag. What you don't realize is that you all don't have some of the restrictions Elizabethton does. In order for a county student to come to Elizabethton, depending on what grade they are in, they have to pay anywhere from $800-$300 a year to go there. Around here a lot of people don't make that much money to be able to afford that every year. Unlike in Alcoa where you do not have zoning laws and you can go for free. Also Elizabethton does not have a major company that can offer players parents a job to bring them there and play. You all have every right to be proud of what your team has accomplished. Just know that we also have that same right.
  10. The outcome of this game all depends on which Elizabethton team shows up. If last weeks team shows up we get blown out. If the team that played Science Hill shows up it's a ball game. It comes down to our defense no ands, ifs, or buts about it. Any team who has had a mobile qb or a qb that can throw the ball does well against us. From what I have heard CAK's offense is pass heavy. Coach Ogg will need a totally new game plan, because our secondary has been slow in the past few games. As for offense Witten needs to get some imagination in his play calling. Last week he ran the same play, a dive up the middle, 3 straight plays and gained a total of 4 yards. Elizabethton has athletes on offense, but throwing a quick screen to #5 isn't going to work against a team with speed. This game has the potential to be one of the biggest of the year, but it all depends who shows up on Friday. Go Betsy!!
  11. Elizabethton has beaten Austin East 2 out of 3 times they have played.
  12. This year if you show your season ticket when you buy the ticket for the playoff game you are guaranteed that seat(s).
  13. Agreed! The fact that the entire home side is reserved, and it is only half full at the beginning of the game is ridiculous. Might have to do with the level of competition EHS plays now, but the team deserves better than that.
  14. Unicoi is just wasting gas on this trip. Best of luck to both teams, hope all stay injury free.
  15. Looking forward to see how Elizabethton will play against stiffer competition in the playoffs. I see EHS winning 35-14
  16. Agreed, Elizabethton's closest games were out of conference with our one loss coming from science hill and a one point win over Tennessee high. Tennessee high shot their self's in the foot with some costly mistakes and a bad call going for 2 at the end of the game, they also had their best player out. I would love to see Elizabethton go far in the playoffs, but I'm skeptical as of now.
  17. Is it just me or is this conference kind of a joke for Elizabethton to be in? I'm not trying to put any of the other teams down, but when week in and week out we are beating teams by 30 it just gets boaring. These games are in no way getting Elizabethton ready for playoffs when we will actually see competition. It will be interesting to see how we react when a team actually shows up and hits us in the mouth.
  18. Elizabethton actually played Chuckey Doak the first round and then played Austin East and Gatlinburg Pittman in the playoffs before playing Alcoa in sub-state
  19. What our secondary lacks in skill they make up for it in experience all of our secondary is returning starters they have all seen good passing teams. Coach ogg is one of the best defensive coaches around and he can read an offense better than anyone he will have a game plan to stop the pass and make greeneville run. South was suppose to be a great passing team and they accomplished that in the first half, but after ogg read the deffense they couldnt throw in the second half. Yes greeneville has more ahletes and speed on the field, but elizabehton will be more physical in the front 7 hen greeneville and greeneville's qb will feel the pressure all night.
  20. betsy doesnt have the speed their accustomed to, but strength makes up for it. Corners have good speed safety depending on if bailey plays or not they will have good secondary speed. Elizabethton has good speed at receiver but they do not look to beat anyone deep. All 3 running backs are fast especially sophmore jeremiah turner who is small and finds the smallest of holes. Bailey can run out of the qb spot a lot of read option. Be epecting a healthy dose of #28 though.
  21. No i was not at the scrimmage i am just going off of what i have been told many different times. Elizabehton is not a deep threat by any means but they will kill you with sort underneath routes and play action. They will eventually dial one deep usually to marcus olds who is a great wide receiver with speed.
  22. If you have watched any of ethan's runs you will see initial contact does not bring him down even from the biggest of players. It takes 3 people to bring him down and he only gets stonger as the game game goes on. His 30th carry is stonger than his 1st. Elizabethton's line is nowhere near as big as it has been in the past but these kids are physical and will not back down from anyone. The line has driven every d-line they have faced off the line of scrimmage. Elizabethton also has to fullbacks that they use regularly that i would bet would start for any team around here.
  23. you all are forgetting one thing about Elizabethton. That would be Ethan Thomas. Betsy thrives off of his energy. He brought them back in the second half against south when they were down 19-7. He also rushed for over 300 yards against Tennessee High who if im not mistaken handled greenevile pretty easy in the preseason.
