If only the hiring committee read CoachT and learned what you already know. So Mr. Fox, you are in the "out of state" camp then?
-
I think it will be internal. I know the "why promote from a 4-6 team" argument is there, but I just see the administration going the internal direction. I've been wrong once before, back in the 80s.
-
I think I know who you are... I heard there are applications in from out west, up north, and Georgia. I'm sure Shelton is a possibility. Again, internal or out of state hire...
-
The DC seems to do a decent job and the OC felt handcuffed to the old OC system. Unless admin can find a proven hire, an experienced HC with success at a program of similar size (they may have to go out of state to find that), looking internally might be the best option. This administration is not going to hire a coordinator from another school for Bearden to be their first HC gig, so you can forget any option in that category. Jeff Jones, the Central OC, all these other names will not get this job. It's either an internal hire or an experienced HC. Since people have ruled out Bradley and Cummings, then out of state is the only other option.
-
Through what I've seen and what I've heard, I stand by: "It will either be an internal hire or an out of state hire."
-
This will be an internal hire or somebody from out state.

Coming from a blended family myself, if that is the court ruling I feel bad for the child. Only way custody in that fashion works without placing unwanted stress on a child is if parents live in the same city, in which case recruiting wouldn't be an issue. But, solid point about school districts not having say over court orders.

Dawgs lose a close one.. Maryville exits playoffs next round.

What the heck did you just say?
-
Sorry Mr. Scientist... was actually saying Jesus because I was laughing at your comment. Good stuff.. But I'll humor you. Aside from the possible recruiting, which is definitely happening, I also think those programs have parents who don't allow their kids to be soft babies. I wonder how many M'ville and Alcoa kids go on family vacation during fall break...Also curious as to how many workouts each player misses...recruiting helps, but having parents that don't allow players to be wimps helps more.
-
Not claiming anyone is recruiting, but there does need to be stricter guidelines on residency. For example, split parents, that student should be expected to live at the house in school zone during the week. If the student is gone during the week, when school is supposed to happen, then that is suspect.

Oh to coach in the mighty SEC. Bunch of terrible teams piggybacking off Alabama. At least this year there are two decent teams.
-
I know it doesn't mean much for the current season, but seeing as how many of these players are the future, what does Freshmen Football look like in 6A? Any good squads? Any team that looks to have a bright future?

I have heard that the DC from West, Harig, and somebody from Alcoa are all in the mix at this point in time. Should be interesting!
-
From what I have heard, the former West coach was looking like the man for the job and when that fell through it was between Shinlever and Harig. At that point, Shinlever was no longer involved in the hiring process and there was talk of him leaving administration and being in the classroom (not sure if this was BHS administrative call or if it came from higher up.) At this point, it became evident, as I stated before, that BHS was going with Shinlever, so Harig withdrew his name. So please keep laughing, for the AD did not hire himself, but rather stepped down and then accepted a position.
-
It wasn't that Harig "didn't take" the Bearden job, it was just purely evident that Bearden was going with Shinlever.
-
You can talk offense all you want, but there were MAJOR problems defensively. DC has been there awhile, maybe it's time to look in a different direction...
-
@uofl.... while I agree with you, the last school I coached at, the AD had the job prior to the coach that I coached under, and he was fired as a head coach after 2 seasons because the team was awful. Then, the school also terminated him as AD. Hopefully that doesn't happen here.
-
he would have to give up his AD status, and a school/community like bearden will likely swallow the loudon HC better than hiring a newbie head coach. Not saying this is right or wrong, but from what I hear around the town, Shinliver is not what the community wants. I think they will follow Bartlett and settle with the Loudon HC. Guess we will see!
-
Any news on the Bearden Job?
-
Committee met at 3:30 today, I imagine there will be an answer soon!
-
Loudon HC has had the phone interview (that everyone gets that applies) and another interview. As far as I know, that is all. The lack of posting of the job tells me that there probably wasn't much thought behind it, they already know who they're hiring.
-
Won't be a sure thing until interviews and such start happening, but from what I gather, It is Loudon's HC position to lose.
