  1. Alright I'm gonna be the first to throw this one out there. Why are Bradley and father ryan in the same pool seems a little dumb to me. Just my opinion.
  2. Its hard to compare the two considering Fargo is freestyle and greco whereas Super 32 is folkstyle. IMO i do not think kids need to choose between Fargo and Super 32. They just have to train in a smarter way. Most wrestlers think that they can only take a week to two weeks or even no time off at all between Fargo and Super 32. That is not at all the case. Fargo is an event held during mid July. Super 32 is held at then end of October/beginning of November. If a wrestler took a moth off of wrestling that still leaves him/her 10 weeks of training before super 32. 10 weeks isnt that long meaning they would have to train hard, but its Super 32 if you dont train hard you shouldnt be there in the first place.
  3. This one's easy. Eli King and Murphy should not be on the same level considering Murphy has won 2 of the 3 battles with ease each time. Chalifoux at 3 is questionable although he is a stud. And last but especially not least Evans has dominated Boykin everytime they wrestle. And i do believe Parker is ranked at 220 on Flowrestling therefore i would have him at 220 rather than 195 until something changes.
  4. You forgot to mention Sutherland won OW in 2015. I don't remember Murphy beating any wrestlers that went on to win OW?
  5. No excuses? What comes afterwards sounds like an excuse to me. What injuries and to whom are you speaking of? As for how Connell and Elsea did in national tournaments, I do not know. What does that matter? This is not about national tournaments, it is about if state champ competed against another state champ. Just because you are an AA does not mean you could win the state championship against another state champion since he did not AA. If so, how do our AA's lose to Tennessee wrestlers every year. Example, Boykin from Murfressboro won Fargo and Sammy Evans from Alcoa did not AA this year, yet Boykin lost to Sammy at Virginia Beach. I would not say Boykin beats Evans just because he won Fargo.
  6. I agree, both placed at Fargo and they are worthy. However, we are talking about at the time. Chalifoux lost to Becci in the simis of the state. Would you say he is better than Becci because he AA at Fargo? No, because he lost to him head to head. Just because somebody did not go to Fargo does not mean they are not worthy. I think the results speak for themselves.. That is the question.
  7. Sutherland wrestled him last year at the Archer Tournament? Do you know what the score was and who won? Bet that was a good one.
  8. 106- Murphy v Simpson 113-Oliver v Eason 120- Elsea v Chalifoux 126-Gray v Simpson 132- Connell v King 138- Olsen v Murphy 145-Marchetti v Wesnofske 152-Baker v Patton 160- Popp v Sutherland 170- Parker v Seagraves 182- Hoodenpyle v Euverard 195- Garsten v Parker 220- Mason v Stacey 285- Robertson v Reiniche Very interesting topic. I'm not going to make any picks, but do want to discuss a few weight classes. 106- Simpson was more dominant than Murphy was at 106. Not saying Simpson would beat Murphy, but I am saying I don't remember Murphy pinning in the finals and being talked about for OW when he won at 106? Although Murphy is a much more decorated wrestler and currently ranked 15th in the nation on flowrestling, I do not think he was as much of a stud than as he is now. 120- I think Elsea would be bigger, stronger, and more physically mature for Chalifoux. Elsea also pinned in the finals. If you watched Elsea wrestle, he was always much bigger and stronger than everyone else in his weight class. Elsea was also one of the best leg riders I've seen in a long time and I don't know how Chalifoux would handle that. Just a little comparison of their styles. 132- Connell. Should this be a no brainer? Connell defeated Brunner (3x state champion), and also defeated 1x state champion Mike Akres by first period pin. Brunner also went on to wrestle in NCAA Division 1. Connell also wrestles NCAA Division 1 (Naval Academy). King on the other hand, has already won 2 state titles. King didn't have near the competition Connell did. Taking nothing away from King who has won two state titles the first two years in high school. Maybe when King is a Senior we can compare more accurately 138- First off, Olsen is misspelled. The correct spelling is "Olson." That being said Olson had by far the toughest weight class at the state tournament that year defeating Sutherland (the guy that everyone is picking for 160) who is also going to wrestle NCAA Division 1 wrestling (Old Dominion). Sutherland did not score 1 point off of him. I know Sutherland was injured, but this is quite the feat. Olson defeated Sutherland (2014 State Champion and 2015 State Champion and 2015 OW). In Olson's weight class in 2013 there were two state champions (Sutherland and Davis). As I stated earlier, I am not taking anything away from Murphy. The kid is an absolute stud. He currently is ranked 15th on flowrestling. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but is that the highest any TN wrestler has been ranked (other than Oliver)? 170- Parker defeateted Hagey 7-2 in 2013, which was the closest any Parker-Hagey matchup was. I believe they wrestled multiple times that year. In 2014 Hagey defeated Seagraves 2-1 in the finals. Also, Seagraves pinned Hagey in the State Duals to help Baylor win the DII State Duals. Although Seagraves would have age on Parker, Hagey never got close to a win or even a close match against Parker, but did against Seagraves. Lastly, I wanted to say great topic choice. It really made me think and compare wrestlers. The majority of these weights could go either way depending on the day. Every kid on this list is an absolute stud and also all State champions. These are just my opinions (everyone's opinion is different) and I would love for people to criticize or critique them.
  9. Don't worry yoadrain, I went to the glasses store on my break and found you some idiot proof glasses so that way you wont stink up this thread with your incorrect, stupid, and down right hilariously naive comments. I have never mentioned any 6th grade team placing 2nd anywhere the only person who has done that is werazzlin its post #13. Cbg mentioned King's accomplishments from 8th grade. This thread is for freshmen/sophomores that's why I have focused my discussion around King, the state brackets say his a sophomore and the freshman/sophomore duals that only freshman and sophomores can enter also say he's a sophomore since he wrestled in it. Again, werazzlin was the one who mentioned Wilkins. I can help you find that post it is on page 1, 8 posts down very simply. I do not have a problem with anybody, I got on here to discuss wrestling and treating King like he has accomplished something great is wrong he has accomplished something good. Beating kids who still aren't used to the fact that high school doesn't have recess isn't as impressive as beating an upperclassman who looks bigger than those string beans i buy at the store that look like most underclassmen.
  10. yodrain, not once, not twice, but THREE times (simply math I might add) I am saying this: King going undefeated at freshman/sophomore duals is good. It could be better. He could have placed at super 32 or Flownationals where he would have to wrestle some upperclassman who unlike the little boys he has been wrestling (maybe, maybe not) have hit puberty, went through a voice change, and grew hair on their chest. What is more impressive a Sophomore beating kids his age or even younger or beating an upperclassmen as an underclassman? As for the others, I still don't have my glasses I am at work and I believe I left them at home where did I ever say anything about any other wrestler on that team? No, so do not make assumptions.
  11. I apologize I misplaced my glasses and cant locate them at this time to read my last post. Please show me where I mentioned Boykin, Brock (Herring?), Sells, or Wilkins.
  12. This is high school wrestling not middle school if you want to talk about Eli King's accomplishments in MIDDLE SCHOOL make a new thread this thread was to discuss the FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE national duals. Freshman year: Eli King defeated a freshman at 106 to win the state title (a weight class full of freshmen with a few sophomores) Sophomore year: Eli King lost to a junior (Michael Murphy) at 138. He then dropped a weight class to 132 and defeated a sophomore, freshman, and then another sophomore in the finals Then at the national duals he wrestled 145 and defeated on freshmen and sophomores. Most freshman and sophomores have yet to hit puberty. Very few kids are able to jump weight classes and defeat more competitive wrestlers. Eli King has had an impressive career, but not nearly as impressive as you make him out to seem. Michael Murphy (Junior last year) defeated Eli King their last match up handily. Murphy was 3 matches away from placing at Junior nationals (which means only Juniors). So King going undefeated at freshman/sophomore duals at a higher weight class is a good, but not great accomplishment.
  13. He's state championship came from freshman-senior at 132. He did jump to 145 and go undefeated but it was only freshman-sophomore so not as impressive as many make it out to be, but still an accomplishment.
  14. Your info is very rarely correct. You said the dooleys were related to the Simpsons a long time ago and been called out for it on multiple occasions and you have yet to own up to it. You tried to pass the buck onto somebody else by saying a simpson told you that he was at a Franklin wrestling match to see his nephew which I highly doubt he said because that's a lie. So do not say you admit when you are incorrect because you rarely do. And as for state champions and medalists on MTSU programs no offense to the wrestling in TN but just because you are a state medalists or even a state champion does not mean you are a top wrestler in the country. That includes D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and the club level. The best division is obviously D1. Looking at the D1 all Americans they were represented by 25 states. Tennessee was not one of them with that being said, MTSU is a fine program, but just because they have state medalists or champions doesn't mean they are a powerhouse program that trains 24/7 like any other division they are a club team for a reason and that is to allow kids to wrestle without the pressure of it being a job.
  15. That was also last year some kids improve great amounts over an entire year.
  16. I guess you didnt see where Oliver won by 1 in the semis. He had to escape and take him down to win 9-8?
  17. Sutherland is an amazing wrestler thats why he was a 2x state champion and won OW this year. I do understand he did just get back from football when he wrestled him at Cleveland, thats not an excuse thats a fact and that may or may not be the reason he wrestled him much closer later in the season.
  18. Not taking anything away from Sutherland he is no doubt one of the best wrestlers in the state P4P hands down, but he has been pinned by Bullard before. He has had close matches with him too. As for WrestlingGod your opinions dont change the fact that Binns has not signed with D1 program yet and Garrison has. Garrison has not lost in the past two years and Binns has. Garrison is better no questions asked.
  19. I guess you are counting the time sutherland got pinned by Bullard when Bullard was up 13 points at the Cleveland duals? Or last year when Bullard pinned Sutherland in less than a minute at the Cleveland duals?
  20. How could you ever place Binns higher than Garrison? Binns should not even been considered for this thread. Binns was dominated by Simpson last year twice, and Garrison dominated Simpson with blissfull ease at the Bradley Invitational. And Simpson split with Sutherland and Garrison didnt. Do your research.
  21. How do you put Murphy over King? They split matches yes, with murphy winning the last meeting, but King wrestled up against murphy. This is P4P rankings King wrestled up against Murphy therefore you place him above Murphy.
  22. Bullard started out ranked 6th after winning super 32 over Racer, but he then lost to Racer at Kc Stampede. Bullard got 3rd i believe at Kc Stampede. Bullard has lost a few matches this year placing him down so low. He wrestled 152 at super 32, but moved up at weight class to 160 putting him down a few places in the rankings.
  23. I feel like the reason Kennedy was ranked higher than Debian is that Kennedy dominated and pinned in the finals (Debian dominated in the finals to but didnt have as good of an opponent) as well as placed high at Virginia Beach last year, when Debian has only placed in greco and these rankings are based on folkstyle since that is what they wrestle at the high school level.
