  1. In the end it was speed and an offensive plan that gave the Cherokee defensive coaches fits. As I said in this topic earlier, Ramsey IS the fastest QB in the conference. Add in Dockery who can take it to the house everytime he touches the ball and you have, in my opinion, the best QB/RB duo in the conference. Cherokee's power run game was stopped by the East DL and LBs. Once again, this was what I was alluding to in an earlier post that some of the Cherokee supporters wanted to laugh at. I look forward to reading that paper tomorrow to see the stat lines. With Boone's loss to Volunteer of all teams last night, the Canes are in possession of the number 2 seed. East still has to beat both Greeneville and Boone. I was totally shocked when I saw the score of the Boone/Volunteer game. East looked very good last night. If they play with that level of determination through the next 2 games, we will be the 2 seed. Left to Play Morristown West 8-0, 5-0 Cherokee, Cocke County Morristown East 5-3, 4-1 Greeneville, Daniel Boone Daniel Boone 6-2, 3-2 David Crockett, Morristown East Cherokee 5-3, 3-2 Morristown West, Volunteer Greeneville 4-4, 3-2 Morristown East, David Crockett Volunteer 3-5, 2-3 Cocke County, Cherokee David Crockett 3-5, 1-4 Daniel Boone, Greeneville Cocke County 1-7,0-5 Volunteer, Morristown West
  2. Just so you know, Brad is the fastest QB in the conference. He is also either the fastest or second fastest player on the football team. East has had issues with the power run game that Cherokee has used the past few years, but East has DL and LBs that are bigger and stronger than years past. Bottom line is that if Cherokee can run it up the middle as in the past, then Chiefs score up another W against the Canes. My belief is that the Eastmen will be better suited to stop the ground game. Cherokee has not played an offense like this. Every team that we have played has had fits stopping this version of the East offense. Coach Hatcher is a masterful strategist. The fact that the game is AT CHEROKEE does not help the Canes, but the overall speed that East possesses makes me think we are in much better shape for this game than in the past. East has a bruiser in Jimmy Mosier that has several times been a one man scoring drive. Should be a great game.
  3. From what I have been told, there is no evidence of just how this happened. I am not going to pretend that I know and I was at the game. I do know Brad and have known him since he was a freshman. He is not a bad kid. The fact that he apologized is not necessarily an admission of guilt, but could be interpreted as a young man doing the right thing. I believe that I read where Vlad Guerrero visited the pitcher that he hit with a line drive last week. I do know that East viewed two different tapes to try and see if they could find evidence of the infraction. Neither showed any evidence of any wrong doing. The reason that there were two tapes was due to East getting the copy of the game that Morristown West had made. The fact that West sent a person to to video the game is another story completely. I won't even go there and discuss the ethics involved. Now as far as the West kids trying to stir this up, just ignore them. They would love for everyone to hate East as bad as they do. You would think that the Trojan fans would be proud of all that they have accomplished and leave East alone. East vs. West has been like UT vs. Vandy. East has as many wins in football against West as Vandy has against UT over the past few years....one. If I was a Trojan, I could not care less about this situation. I could not care less about East. For the young man that was injured, I hope he recovers fully and can return to play this Friday. I would never wish an injury on any player. Please know that my prayers are with that young man. The thing that upset me the most about the entire situation was the lack of EMS people at the stadium. Where were the people who are responsible for the medical well being of the players? Why were the players having to rely on the services of athletic trainers? If that had happened to my child, I would be very upset. East needs to make sure that the school has EMS people present for football games. It is a no brainer. Football and injuries go together like PB and J. It is not as if we have not watched players get taken off in stretchers at East before. (Wahkeem Simpson) Let me conclude with this final thought. If Brad did in fact "choke out" the Jefferson County player, then there should be a suspension of multiple games. There is no room in East athletics for that type of action. If Jefferson County has video proof that Brad did act in this manner, then my hope is that they send it to the administration at Morristown East. I believe that Mr. Johnson would take action.
  4. East is solid. I would expect to see good things for the Canes this year. Coach Seals is a professional. He did not get the job and is still working as hard as he can to make the team better. Coach Hatcher knows football. He is not running the wishbone. He does a lot out of that formation, but it is not true wishbone principles. Wishbone principles require zone blocking. Coach Hatcher uses a man on man blocking scheme. Morristown East opponents are going to have a hrad time preparing for this team. East did not complete 1 pass last Friday. (Neither did Karns...first time for me seeing that) I bet Brad Ramsey gets it going against Crockett. Everyone in the IMAC knows Brad can throw. I would not be surprised to see the Canes at around 7-3 or better at the end of the year. They have some athletes in their sophomore class that are awesome.
  5. Guys, Dwayne Hatcher at Morristown East will be a name to know in the next few years. He, like others on your lists, has college experience. He has a solid staff as well.
  6. I agree with Lucas Elkins. When I originally typed the post, he was not ripping the ball the way he is now. He is really on some kind of tear. The entire team seems to be waking up the bats.
  7. Can anyone tell me what happened at Science Hill tonight? Can't seem to find any information on the game!
  8. I agree with Brad Ramsey form Morristown East. I also belive that Danny Mills will do a great job for the team. They also have a freshman who has great potential...Jacob Mills.
  9. Wynder is the best this season, but the future of the IMAC is going to be Kent Basile and Morristown East. He is just a sophomore and will be the best player the next 2 years. Kent can take a game over when he wants. Coach Decker and Berquist have done an excellent job of working Basile into becoming THE man on the East team. Morristown East only graduates Daniel Deadrick at the end of the year. They will be strong in the coming years!
  10. Watch out for Cory Shaw from Morristown East. The kid can play.
