  1. I don't recall seeing any negative comments from your posts & appreciate that. I'm starting to acknowledge & encourage more this kind of approach with positive rating points voted on two of my favorite posts every day. It's a quiet and anonymous way to say thanks for one's input. for what it's worth

  2. Coffetalk, I understand where you coming from and I understand the other side as well. It's an emotional sport..
  3. Not trying to avoid at all. I'm not scared to throw my son in there and let him battle it out. Totally not me. But I do understand people being upset.. Why sure...
  4. KRider123, I agree with how you or anyone else feels regarding the Evans situation and again I am a Alcoa parent. Do I feel it was right? Honestly , I don't. My comment is going to make some Alcoa parents mad. However, If it was my son's weight class and same situation. I would be upset too! Who wouldn't after watching their child strive all year to reach their goal! So, you did the right course of action and took it up with TSSAA. However, many people did not. There were terrible comments made at state not only toward Evans but to other Alcoa wrestlers and parents. That was on whole reason I join was to voice my opinion. As for Evan, he is a respectful kid with a passion for wrestling. I'm fortunate to had the pleasure of knowing him and the rest of the Alcoa wrestlers as long as I have.
  5. Krider123, Mr. Olmsted is not apart of Alcoa wrestling nor does he have a wrestler on the team or a child attending Alcoa City Schools. So I apologize for his comments toward you or your son. Maj, thank you for your comments, very well said...
  6. Yoadrian, I don't know you or any of the others posting here. I'm also not hiding behind a screen name either. Not sure who has quoted on here saying Alcoa is the best wrestling team. That's certainly not true and that comes from a parent who's son has wrestled for Alcoa from the very beginning the youth program started. However, we are growing and getting better. I heard several comments over the weekend that Alcoa shouldn't even be at state. I totally disagree. Those boys have worked hard to get where they are at and deserve to hold their head high. Who are any of you to judge? Also, most of these boys are not football players either. Strictly wrestlers only! As for the Evans situation, if you all have a problem take it up with TSSAA, they made the decision, not Alcoa. Whats bothersome is these kids read all these post. Come men, let these boys enjoy what they have worked hard for all year.
  7. Newest guy, although I commented on my son's wrestling on the final match. I never meant to take away from the wrestler that won. I was only voicing my opinion like you had earlier. However, had Renshaw wrestled smarter and was on his game, it probably would have been a different type of match. It could have went either way.. The wrestler that won did a great job and deserved to win. You will not hear me whin and complain my son was cheated. One thing I am about is being fair.
  8. Hey guys, the only reason i voiced my opinion earlier was all year the boys heard, "Since Evans is gone to CA, they lost the most valuable member of their team". I disagree with that. It takes more than one member to make a team and they did just fine without Evans. I just didn't want the other wrestlers to be overlooked for their contributions to the Alcoa Team. I do hope Evans stays this next coming year, he will make a fine additional along with the other wrestlers. Newestguy Renshaw happens to be my son and I will totally agree with you on the final match. He completely blew it and it cost him the Championship... I had to shake my head on that one... He acted like he had never wrestled before.. However, he is a solid wrestler and continues to grow each year. Hopefully, he and the other Alcoa wrestlers will work just as hard and prove they are state worthy. I'm proud of them all! Go Alcoa!
  9. I'm a chic and I don't talk all that split crap and big dog stuff... I just don't feel anyone should put the Alcoa wrestlers down for what they have accomplished. They have worked very hard to get where they are at. Who cares... I would say that about any other team as well.. Big school, small school.. Who cares. Good for them for all the hard work and determination...
  10. Coffetalk, I'm a parent of one of those wrestlers. I wasn't trying to taking away from Sammy. I'm very proud how well Sammy is doing and hope he'll be a good addition to the Alcoa Team next year. After saying that, the Alcoa Team wrestled just fine this year without Evans and will continue advancing forward with or without him. Nothing should be taken away from the other wrestlers. Thank you matguy94. Very well said... Why does it matter what the split is? The Alcoa boys that wrestled together as a team this year earned their spot and deserve to be there. Medals weren't handed to them down there, they earned it.
  11. I totally agree with Alcoa being a Powerhouse on the mat now and the years to come! This program has been in the making since 2006/2007 when the youth began. Not taking anything from Evan, cause he is a beast on the mat but there are plenty other Alcoa wrestlers just as good such as Renshaw, Shereef, Murphy, Verhulst, Fiegler, Fisher and many more in the program. Not one weight class supports or carrys the team, it takes all the weight classes to be the backbone and to make the team what it is.. I'm already looking forward to next season. Also, I give props to all the Blount County Wrestling Programs... Heritage, Maryville, William Blount.. Blount County is a Force to be reckon with next year!
