  1. It might be a "little different" but that is still very weird. Quit being a helicopter parent. That has to be embarrassing to the players who's mom goes to watch EVERY SINGLE PRATICE....especially when they were freshman and sophmores.
  2. You seriously go watch high school kids practice everyday?
  3. As of right now they would be able to play in the regular season but not in playoffs if they split them. But once the privates break away from TSSAA and form their own leauge, they will not play each other.
  4. The winds of change are blowing. Sounds more and more like a total split is coming with a multiplier added to open zone schools. I personally can not wait for this to happen.
  5. Correct, and BGA palys in a divsion with other schools that have the same "zone". Does Alcoa?
  6. Sometimes, when you're to close to the trees, you can't see the forest. To simplify it for Alcoa groupies, sicne you have open zones, you see no problem with open zones.
  7. I spoke to a Div II AD last night who feels more and more like TSSAA will split privates out for post season. He said the TSSAA does not want the private completely carved out because they know several of the privates have been in deep talks on a seperation plan if the vote goes this way.
  8. recruiting is not limited to private schools and the previous poster recoginizes that. Open zone schools have the same geographical "advantage" as private schools do.
  9. How would that play with boarding schools like Baylor and McCallie who board students from all across the globe but live on campus?
  10. Then open zone schools should have their own division. It's unfair for a closed zone school to play against open zoned schools that have a unlimited range they can pull from.
  11. You are talking hypotheticals. The FACTS are McKenzie is a open zone that can recruit players from anywhere and they do not have to pay a tution if the board has not established a fee. Open zones are the same as privates. Open zones should be lumped into their own division and play each other. And for the record, I want a complete split too. The privates will excel once they get out from underneath the TSSAA umbrella.
  12. If the reporter was doing even half a decent job he should have asked Comer how he feels about open zoned schools and the advantages they have over closed zone schools. He can't have it both ways. Open zoned schools should be lumped into privates schools since they do not have a set zone to recruit from.
  13. Comer made McKenzie and himself look like hypocrites. They have the same zone to "recruit" from.
  14. I said it yesterday and I'll say it today.....Brandon Shields wrote a lazy article. How can you write dribble like this without doing a simple internet search? It clearly states on the Board of Education web site that there is a clear path for out of zone students to atted McKenzie (and play sports) if they pay a fee the board says is fair. I also read it to mean if the board does not imply a tution fee, no fee needs to be paid so I student can attend McKenzie without paying a dime. Seems like Coach Comer is being dishonest, or at a very minimum he's ignorant about how he's able to field a team. McKenzie has the exact "advantage" as the small privates that whip him every year.
  15. What is this coach belly aching about? McKenzie is a an open zone school which gives him the same area to pull students from that privates do. The writer and the coach got it wrong. This article makes the coach and writer look bad for not telling or reporting the truth.
  16. I tweeted Brandon, his response to me was "no one pays tuiton to go to McKenzie according to the superintendent." Sounds like Brandon asked the wrong question again. He should have asked if any student living outside the McKenzie "closed zone boundaries" attends McKenzie?
  17. BGA beat Ravenwood by a combined score of 62-27 the past two times they played Ron just sayin
  18. The article that Brandon Shields wrote is a lazy piece of "journalism". He went to the local ball coach, asked a question and then let him rant without challenging any of the "facts" the ball coach spewed. Kinda wonder in Brandon is intimidated by the ole coach. As BigPurple pointed out (clap to you), a simple search could have been done to save Brandon from looking like a third tier sports writer. Writers like Brandon, and the McKenzie ball coach, show their agenda here.
  19. Has he taught his QB how to throw a forward pass this summer? Rankin's coaching ability was on full display in Cookeville when he couldnt run it left, the right, then 3 times up the middle like usual.
  20. I was asking you about Milan, not other schools. So yes, Milan has an advantage over other schoold with closed zones. See, that wasn't so hard was it? I don't blame Milan fans trying to steer the conversation away from open/closed. If open zones have to play with privates (as they should), Milan will be right back to playing CPA and we know how that has turned out lately.
  21. You danced around my question and never answered it. The same can be said for numerous private schools. Do you feel a school that can pull students from a undefined zone has an advantage over a school that pulls from a pre-determined zone?
  22. Do you feel like open zoned schools are playing on the same level field as closed zoned schools?
