  1. Stars let it go. It's over. No need to take over another thread with tax arguments.
  2. I think realistically heritage can go 5-5 and make the first round of the playoffs, which would be a huge improvement for them. I think they can beat halls, Gibbs, and Powell. Clinton and heritage will be about even and could go either way. And I think they'll pull at least one upset this year. Either anderson county or south Doyle because both are replacing a lot and its early in the year. Or WB because the games the last 3 years have been really close so maybe this is the year heritage gets over the hump. But I think 5-5 would be a big step in the right direction.
  3. The sales tax didn't pass in blount county the first time because people in the city of maryville were allowed to vote on it. When they were taken out of the equation the tax passed. Which shows that the city didn't want the county to benefit from the increase. And the planetarium was a federally funded project.
  4. Blount county voted on the sales tax BEFORE maryville city. On the first referendum the people in the city of maryville were allowed to vote and it failed. Maryville then went ahead and passed the sales tax on their own. The county then had a second referendum which the cities didn't vote on and it passed easily. So was that just a coincidence it worked out that way, or is that the city trying to avoid splitting tax dollars with the county. Tax dollars that the county would also have to pay. And it doesn't matter if Britt suggested the idea. He could ask for a billion dollars if he wanted to. It's the county commission that has to approve it. So commissioners who represent both alcoa and maryville cities voted to approve the budget. So that's where you can point your blame.
  5. You keep bringing up Britt like he's personally collecting the taxes. Britt simply made the recommendation that the funds be moved. The superintendent of schools can't approve that on his own, that's done by the county commission. The county commission who by the way has commissioners who represent the people living in the city limits. if you want to talk about ethics, both alcoa and maryville city did everything they could to ensure the county did not see any benefits from the sales tax increase knowing the county residents would be forced to pay the increase.
  6. Whatever helps get you through the day, and makes you feel good about yourself. You need it.
  7. You can call it whatever you want, but the fact is that it's done, and it was done legally. The county had every right to do so. So enjoy paying extra taxes to fund the county.
  8. The county isn't breaking the law. They have every right to move the funds if they so choose. Funds, which I've already stated are badly needed. But on behalf of the county, we would like to thank you for your donation to blount county schools. Who knows stars, maybe when the schools replace the toilets in the boys room they can name one after you for your generosity.
  9. Yeah that's what it is. I couldn't possibly be a concerned parent. But if it makes you feel better to think everyone in the county is envious of the city go ahead. I truly hope for your sake that maryville continues to be as successful as they are now, if not, I have no clue where your self worth will come from.
  10. I know. I'm getting my blood pressure up over a chat board.
  11. Don't even try to talk about equal. This isn't strawberry pie, these are children. If funds are being shuffled so that kids are in a comfortable and healthy environment then that's what has to be done. If funds were being moved so every kid in the county could get their own iPad thats a different story. And I can guarantee that dear old maryville is in much better shape and has more upgrades than half the schools you just listed. You don't like the way county dollars are split, run for the county commission. Although I think they'll ask you to alter your writing style a tad.
  12. I hate that for you. If the county was moving money for cosmetic purposes you might have a point. If they're moving it so my kids don't have to wear a jacket and gloves in the building to stay warm, I could careless how the city folk feel about it in their new school buildings.
  13. That's actually not true. You can't scream fire in a crowded place or say bomb on an airplane. You have got to be one uptight insecure man to be this defensive, especially as this whole topic concerns high school sports. But I'm happy for you that your school of choice is successful, I hate to see what you're like if they were terrible.
  14. I think that would also be a fair assessment also.
  15. I told myself I wasn't going to comment on any of your posts this year because lets be honest it's a waste of time. But I have to call you out on this one. Last spring when everyone was jumping all over you because WB got smacked by Catholic, you repeatedly said that its a spring scrimmage and it doesn't mean anything. All because the results weren't to your liking. This year, now that WB beat up on another team, a team that typically is pretty good, the spring scrimmage can tell us how the whole season will shape out. I am only saying this to point out that you are hypocrite, at least when it comes to WB, and I don't need you to rant about how the scrimmage shows a different culture, attitude, and displine. We got it.
  16. Dude, calm down. You are getting way to defensive. Most of the people on here simply said they were intrigued about what would happen if maryville played another states top team, and since this is a football chat board, it seems a fititing place to talk about it. For the most part, people arent trying to slander your beloved rebels. Also, to all the maryville fans, stop trying to make money an issue. I grew up in blount county and now have kids and nieces and nephews in blount county and I know maryville city doesn't hurt for money. This is a school system that has put in turf, a jumbo tron, a new baseball field, and is putting an iPad in the hands of every student. (I'm not saying any of those are bad or undeserved, but just pointing out you have money). Also, maryville already has three teams on their schedule that are 2+ hours away. You're telling me they couldn't afford to travel 3 an a half hours to metro Atlanta to play a team from that area?
  17. I think any time someone mentions Maryville playing out of state people assume you're trying to trash maryville. But like you I just want to see how TN compares to other states.
  18. I personally would like to see Maryville play a team from another state. When I lived in GA, AL, and FL all I heard was how much better high school ball was down there. So I would like to see how the best from TN competes.
