  1. Heritage just had their best record in 16 years. They went to the playoffs two years in a row, which is the first time since the 1980's. I think the coach is safe for awhile.
  2. Yeah my version of d1 talent is a player who signs to play at a division one school. I never said maryville was always the most talented team, but they have had d1 talent every year for the past 16 years. Out of 15 Friday nights out of the year maryville will be the most talented team on the field 14 times. Why act like they don't have talent?
  3. D1 refers to any college team in the FBS or FCS, not only the SEC and big 10. Stewart- auburn Thompson- SC Brandon waters- TTU Gary tucker- MTSU Shiver- UT Martin Maples- UT Tank baker- furman Douglas- UT Brunette- MTSU Robinette- vandy Jay Guillermo- Clemson Prevo- estu Jackson- Stanford Koons- TTU Blackmon will go D1 Ok so I got 15, and I said I was probably off by a few, but it looks like a missed a few. The point is maryville has plenty of talent. No other school in the area can make a similar claim as far as D1 talent. I've just never understood why people claim they don't have it?
  4. Why do people act like maryville doesn't have D1 talent? In the 15 years maryville has been to the state title they've had 20 D1 players come through the program (I might be off by a few individuals). And they've also had numerous Mr. Football winners and nominees, almost one per year. How many other programs in the state can make the same claim?
  5. I have to disagree. I think Blount county has just as much commitment as any other school district in the area. You talk about forking out money to bring in coaches, but both county schools have quality coaches. Hammontree and shadowens have both won state titles. As far as coaching supplements are concerned, I'm sure most schools in the area are comparable. The only reason rankin or GQ make more money is their teaching salaries are higher in the cities. As far as any other spending, Blount county is in the process of trying to upgrade both stadiums and add turf as well. So the commitment from the community is there.
  6. Govs will name the score? Govs by 3 TDs? Death, taxes, and govs over heritage? WB just got rah rah sis boomed!
  7. Yeah sucks for the cities! I've heard hhs got new uniforms too, so thanks for those!
  8. I'm not sure. I think that was the admirals in the paper.
  9. I'm sure if you guys were to donate some money to the program they would be happy to listen to your uniform opinions.
  10. I guess things like loyaltyand commitment are gone. So who are all the jokers on here who think county players transferring to city schools just to play ball is a myth?
  11. Maryville's 3rd string would probably beat heritage's 1st string by a TD. So yes there are plenty of kids at Maryville that could help the county schools win ball games. Maryville actually has more students than heritage according to the TSSAA count last year when they were making the new regions. Just because you have a lot of students doesn't mean there are any actual football players. If the student section is represenative of the rest of the student body, then there aren't many ball players walking the halls either.
  12. I think a lack of players plays a huge role in the current status of the county teams, and I think it obvious that a large number of players and parents make the decision to go to maryville or Alcoa even if they are zoned for the county. Losing just a handful of players can kill a team like heritage or WB. It causes each school to have a lack of depth which reduces the level of competition at practice. Looking at the county schools compared to the city schools, the county schools had about 40 players each dressed out, but maryville on the other hand had close to 100. That's more depth and more competition for playing time, which only makes everyone better. High school football games are won with the jimmys and joes not the X's and O's. Maryville and Alcoa have world class coaching staffs but they also have the jimmys and joes. The county schools on the other hand dont have the players to compete.
  13. Very well said 91. I think this perfectly explains the issues the county schools face without offending the others.
  14. So are you saying you're a fair weather fan?
  15. What about that game makes you think west should have won my 4 TDs? Because it's heritage? You knew west was down to their last back when you made that prediction. Don't get me wrong, west is a good team, but take away 3 plays and heritage wins by 20. Heritage outplayed west tonight. But sometimes that's still not enough.
  16. I've heard you complain about this a few times, so I just want to clarify a few things for you. Heritage is not playing a JV schedule this year. They have a combined 9th and 10th grade team. Reasons for this are: a small 10th grade class with quiet a few of those 10th graders getting playing time on Fridays, and then another small freshmen class this year. This created two very small teams and so the coaches decided to just combine them. So they haven't cancelled any games they just combined them. And I'm sure Hammontree told quarles this ahead of time. Last week at the HHS vs WB game on Monday both teams had 9th and 10th graders playing.
  17. If I'm heritage I go ahead and forfeit. Heritage matched up decently with Alcoa last year, throw in a few turnovers and heritage was able to keep it close. This year heritage doesn't match up well at all. And I think rankin tries to punish heritage for keep it so close last year. It's a non-district game, I forfeit and spend two weeks getting ready to play Powell. At this point I'd only worry about district games. Heritage has an outside shot of winning the district if they can continue to improve and pull an upset against west.
  18. I think it might be a little early to put Hammontree on the hot seat. He's been the only coach to generate some signs of life out there. I still think Heritage has a good chance of making the playoffs, which would be a big step for them, and I doubt they fire the first playoff coach in 2 decades. I think one of the biggest problems for Heritage is the fact there are two premiere football programs within 10 mins of them. It's tough to attract talent out at Heriatge when two teams in the same county are winning the way they are. I don't think firing Hammontree is the answer. If he can't get it turned around I doubt there's someone out there who can.
  19. Does anybody know anything about south Doyle? I know they killed HHS last year.
  20. I never said it did. It was one quarter it didn't mean anything. But you guys get so defensive over it. You went 14-1 and were 3 plays away from winning your 50th state title. You'd think it would be beneath you to even try to defend why you lost 1 quarter that didn't count.
  21. You mean the reverse pass they ran at the end of the game to try and score?
