  1. FB95, I remember those teams in 93, 94, 95, I had to coach against them a few times in the playoffs. If I remember correctly Cleveland had won 54 in a row at one time. Again congrats to Coach Wheeler and the Cleveland community. WT
  2. Congratulations to Coach Wheeler and his family, I hope the Cleveland community accepts them with open arms and a warm welcome. I know at one time Cleveland won a few state championships running the Wing-T offense, so it can be done. Good luck to Raider Nation!! WT
  3. There you go, I've been fishing a long time. Lol I guess the last time I saw Beech was in 2000 or 2001 when they played Brentwood in the playoffs; time flies when you are fishing. Best of luck to both teams on staying healthy; but the Wickedtuna will be pulling for the Red, White, and Blue. Go Page!!
  4. PP423; the fishing for the Big Tunas has been really good this season so i have been staying on the water with hopes of breaking a record for the biggest catch, but it is playoff time in Tennessee so I guess I'll take time to add my opinion. That team from up north has been battle tested for many years and this year is no different. My biggest concern is that they run that mix direction offense called a wing-t; you know if I was a high school kid wanting to play college football I wouldn't go to Beech (I don't know of a college team that runs that crazy offense) but that's beside the point; there are more ways to score points that I prefer to watch. Now Page is a team that is gaining more confidence each week, if they stay the course I see them moving on to the 3rd Round. Special teams will be key this week and whoever wins the turnover battle will win this game. Now for my fishing tip for today! If the weather gets rough and the waves are rocking the boat, then put your bait down deep in the water where no wind blows. Moral to the story don't throw it deep into the wind!!!!
  5. The Big Tuna is in the middle of watching Wicked Tuna on TV , so it is hard to find the time to do my research on spring football camps: 1. Franklin County 2. Summit 3. Columbia 4. Lincoln County (new coach) 5. Shelbyville 6. Page 7. White County
  6. Fred J. Page High School in Williamson County
  7. Hey BooWho; (Williamson County was weak this year) there are 9 classifications in TSSAA Football, Williamson County has teams in 5 of those 9; and the 5 quarterfinals games going on this Friday night will have a Williamson County team playing in it. 5 for 5 doesn't sound weak to me. There is no other county in the state that has that many teams still playing this Friday night. An old fisherman once told me; don't forget to bait the hook before throwing it in the water. WT
  8. The Big Tuna thinks 2 things will happen this Friday; 1) A Williamson County School will move on to the Quarterfinals 2) The team who scores the most points will win! As you can tell I have no ideal who is going to win this game but it should be a great game with a lot of excitement for both schools. Games like this helps to bring the school spirit and pride to another level. Best of luck to both teams!! WT
  9. Oh well GWave; sometimes it sprinkles and sometimes it pours but if the skies don't light up, the game will go on. Oh fishing wiseman please cheer for both teams, the Big Tuna has to be in the Knoxville area on Friday for a special presentation before one of the games to a close friend of mine and I have been asked to be there. I will be checking CoachT for updates throughout the game. Best of luck to both teams and stay healthy. WT
  10. The Big Tuna is old, I have to take long naps in order to process my forecast for the playoffs. With that being said, I will tell you that every now and then I will lose a fish (the one that got away) and it is always bigger than the I one I caught. So I would love it if the underdog Patriots could upset the green wave but you need a deep hull to break through the big waves and I don't know if Page has enough fishing line to reach the end zone. Gallatin 21 - 14 over Page.
  11. Patriots are proud to represent Region 5 and are looking forward to the trip up to Gallatin; a town with a Great High School Football Tradition! Good luck to both teams!
  12. Good luck to both teams tonight but staying dry maybe hard to do! Every now and then you might catch a Big Tuna in a storm but it's not any fun fighting the wind and rain while trying to haul in a 500 lb tuna. WT
  13. Thanks, sounds like Top Hog for me! How far is it from the stadium? In order to land the Bluefin Tuna you need a strong line and a smart fisherman working the controls, and from what I have heard Page has both.
  14. GWAVE1, its always good to talk to other fishermen, telling fishing stories that get bigger each time they are told, talking about the ones that got away, etc. and its always exciting playing new opponents in the playoffs, maybe Page will get the opportunity to come up to Gallatin. Now for the most important question where is the best place to eat? WT
  15. I can't answer that question but a large amount of their players are 10th graders. Their enrollment numbers will continue to rise and next year might be the last year of 4A.
  16. Now, Now Leadfarmer your Tigers need to be nice to the young Knights they don't have seniors yet and if you make them mad it might come back and bite you next year when they grow up. You know when you are fishing for the Bluefin Tunas you have to release all shortys (under 73 inches) moral of the story is Nolensville is getting better every week and next year you will see a full grown Knight. WT
  17. Hey GWAVE, a wise old fisherman once said you better be careful about what you hope for! I know the Patriots are a small 5A school having just moved up from 4A but people tell me that they are well coached and have enough talent to beat you on a given night if you aren't playing your best. WT
  18. AllRegion you are right: I wouldn't want to be playing Hillsboro right now! Beech will find out how hard it is to beat a team twice. So I might as well predict the second round. Summit over Gallatin Hillsboro over Beech Quarterfinals: Hillsboro over Summit
  19. You are right Mr. Director and The Big Tuna is projecting Page as the winner.
  20. The Big Tuna has been out fishing for a few weeks but it's time to talk about the matchups for the 1st Round. (All records are subject to winning or losing week 10) Summit 8-2 will host Hillwood 3-7--Summit Shelbyville 6-4 will host Hillsboro 6-4--Hillsboro Beech 10-0 will host Columbia 7-3--Beech Gallatin 7-3 will host Page 7-3--Gallatin Region 5 will only be favored to win 1 game but Page may pull an upset in the 1st Round. Congrats to all teams for making it to the tournament!
  21. This is for the Region championship and no one is talking. Oh, I get it, everyone is out fishing for the Big Bluefin Tunas; the outer banks season just ended Sunday night and the Little Shell (smallest boat in the fleet) won the top dollar boat for this season. Enough of fish talk, Summit is in control of the home crowd and Page people will be looking for a place to sit but when the whistle blows for kickoff it will be up to the players to do all the talking with their pads. Most people feel like Summit will win this one by 2 touchdowns but the Big Tuna thinks this game could be a close one. I remember a coach telling me a long time ago; dad gumit son you ain't hurt, rub a little grass on it you'll be alright! Well i don't know if kids are as tough nowadays as they were back in the sixties but I do know that football has come a long way with all the technology the coaches have available and that football has become a year round sport for a lot of kids. We use to get our weight lifting in by stacking hay bales all summer long etc our coaches didn't see us until it was time to report for fall practice; now days the kids get 2 weeks away from the high school coaches during the middle of summer and that is it, the coaches and kids are working year round to become a better football player. I said all of that to say this, the kids and coaches for both teams have worked really hard to have an opportunity to play for a Region Championship and the winner of this game is in the driver's seat so let's go out tomorrow night and support your team and win or lose just support the kids and thank the coaches for their hard work. Good luck to both teams and stay healthy! WT
