  1. There is....it's called division ll, but to place all private schools there would be unfair to the small schools. The schools in division ll give scholarships or financial aide to athletes. The private schools in division l do not. The small division l schools that don't give financial aide such as Grace, Christian Academy of Knoxville, Boyd Buchanan can't compete at the same level as Baylor, Montgomery Bell Academy and others that do give aide. The students that go to the smaller private schools and compete in sports pay their own way. Most of them do this to receive a christian education.
  2. From what I hear it should not be very close. I have heard that Boyd is 5-0 in district and region tournaments with 3 no hitters. I find that hard to believe at tournament time but if true I will have to pick Boyd.
  3. Boyd over LV in the finals
  4. I have watched a lot of softball over the last several years and have helped coach some excellent players. However....you are asking for the best ss/2b combo. With speed, grace, agility, range, game situation knowledge, offensive abilities.....there is only one truly outstanding combo and that is Lauren Upton and Kacy Cooper from Soddy Daisy. They are a joy to watch.
  5. Wow...there are a lot of great pitchers in Chattanooga. Maddie at Baylor is good but i think M C Vercoe is better. Nikki Waters a very good. Tiffany Walker is good. Ashley Adkins is good. Kyra Lee is good. Let me throw a new name out there. She is a transfer from Georgia so most have not seen her.....but watch out for her. Her name is Brittany Hendon and she plays for Boyd Buchanan.
  6. LOL...great entry volsbigd.....however, they weren't talking about beauty/looks. I would agree with you on attractiveness but sorry, not on the field play.
  7. I love it. I am all for backing the team of your choice. But why can't people admit that their teams/players aren't always perfect? It's always something very unusual or "weird" that causes concerns. What about "a very good effort on the part of the other team/players" ? The Soddy vs Boyd game........your statement--"soddy just couldn't hit the ball that game and the pitcher they trew wasn't that great sd hitters helped out alot but swinging at stuff ive never seen anyone swing at, needless to say captain kirk was not happy!! " Other than the obvious grammatical errors what about the reason for soddy not hitting and swinging at stuff you've never seen anyone swing at being because IT WAS A GREAT PITCHER? That's what great pitchers do...get you to swing at pitches you don't want to. She pitched a one hitter and struck out 12. And she did that to a state powerhouse. Might need to give Brittany Hendon some credit. Sure, Soddy is a great team. But don't forget Boyd Buchanan....they are not too bad themselves. Oh, by the way....Soddy is AAA and Boyd is A. Great job Lady Bucs.
  8. the ones i know about are: east ridge soddy daisy boyd buchanan ooltewah red bank bearden
  9. From what I understand they are going to be a very solid team. I know they have lost their strong pitcher (Warren?) but they have two great pitchers in Kyra Lee and Christian Hudgens. And if they get in trouble there is a transfer pitcher this year....I think from Georgia....that is supposed to be pretty good. Overall I think Boyd will be a better team than the ones that have played in the State finals the last three years. I know it might sound corny but what they lost in the pitcher will be more than made up with chemistry. They should do very well and all you other teams need to keep in mind that, from what I hear, there isn't a senior on the team. See you in Memphis!!
  10. There is a playday in Columbia this weekend and one next weekend at Camp Jordan in Chattanooga
  11. There's one next weekend (3/4-5) at Camp Jordan
  12. There is going to be a lot of talk and a lot of hype about this year. There are many many 'good' teams across the state. But I'm afraid that the Spring Fling finals in Memphis (Miss) in May will once again be Goodpasture and Boyd Buchanan with Goodpasture winning 2-1 or 3-1. But the fun is getting to that point....right?
  13. The MAIN pitcher for the Falcons last year was not a Tennessee girl. She plays ball for a North Georgia School. Can't remember her name but is a good pitcher....
  14. Fine Nest.....and your point? I was mainly making a comment about the pitchers, not who initially voted for them. I still think everyone is focusing on just 2 or 3 girls and there are 4 or 5 worth talking about.
  15. Tiffany Walker? voted by a Grace person Nikki Waters? voted by a Soddy person Rice? voted by a Ooltewah person Let's look at the facts: Tiffany and Nikki are very fine pitchers. But there are two others that need to be looked at: Adrienne Lamberson @ GPS......she didn't play last year due to mono, but she is a very good pitcher.....watch out for off speed stuff Kyra Lee @ Boyd Buchanan......in the shadows of Sarah Warren plus knee surgery last year but she could have started for many teams and was only a 9th grader....in fact played for Boyd as an 8th grader.
