  1. That's what I thought but its only calculated through a five game avg
  2. This weeks game can be the one that will shape the rest of the season. An injury to one of our "go-to-players" would be huge with the conference schedule remaining before us. From the stats view, Happy Valley doesn't match up with the Cyclones much at all. HV has scored just 76 points and has given up 214. They have an avg of just 12.6 ppg and a 0 - 6 record. Betsy has scored 250 points and has given up 138. Elizabethton has an avg of 50.0 ppg and a 4 -1 record. That's a total pf and pa swing of 210 points! The last 55 times that these two teams have met is EHS with 45 wins to HVS 10 wins. EHS will score quick and score often. Only concern I have is that we come away from the game injury free and have all our guys for the rest of the season. Here is how the orange and black attack looks per game and those of the 4A nationally: EHS avg National (4A) avg Rushing yds: 334.4 184.5 Passing yds: 145.8 118.3 Total yds: 334.4 184.3 Takles: 68.2 56.5 sacks: .8 1.7 Points; 50.0 25.9 Go Cyclones !!!!!!
  3. WOW! What a game!! Worth the price of admission. The Vikings came to play and they played very well. Good team with incredible athletes. Best looking defense we've faced thus far. THS is better than advertised at the RB position! A real joy to watch. First half was anybody's game. Betsy's "D" made the stops when they had to in the second half and Ethan did his usual. Best I have seen him play yet. He had a complete game. Don't have the official yards but he goes near if not over 400 all purpose yards!! THS gave us all we wanted but I think the week off really was a huge difference for us. Hoping all of THS fans , players, etc. make it home safely. Enjoy this win tonight Cyclones, it's back to work tomorrow! Proud of the boys in black!!
  4. Cap1 thanks!! Have a safe trip over and enjoy a quality game !! Here's to high school football.....for the love of the game.
  5. Well it's here.....Gameday! I have been looking forward to this game all week. I'm glad that so many people still have school pride and are excited as ever for high school football. These young men worked all week getting ready for this night. Long before the ball snaps, they have pushed themselves to get better each and every day. Mid-season games are the best cause the teams are coming together and the talent is more developed. This is going to be a great game to watch! Two teams with great football programs and traditions squaring off on the gridiron, it doesn't get any better! To everyone that is heading out to the game tonight, here's hoping that all have a safe trip to and fromt the game. I am hoping and praying that both teams compete at a high level but that neither team has an injury to any player. Hoping all the fans, coaches, players, cheerleaders and band from Tennessee High have a safe trip aswell. Lets support our teams with pride, class and understanding.....it's just a game. Life is so much more than a football game. So come out and urge your team on!
  6. Nice for Cap 1 to bring more facts for the Vikings than I hadn't previously known. Thanks! I hope it is a good game. I really hope that the Vikings are that much improved. Last years game wasn't a "DOG STOMP" but it wasn't that far off. So if I may quote you, "Keeping it 100%" then here is a box score reminder: 1st qtr EHS 14 - THS 0 2nd qtr EHS 7 - THS 7 3rd qtr EHS 14 - THS 6 4th qtr EHS 0 - THS 0 Final EHS 35 - THS 13. If that isn't proof of how our team can win even if we have a QB that doesn't impress people with his passing (when they are being "nice") is a look at both programs since '09 and let the facts speak for them selves: *PLAYOFFS THS '09 (11-1) exit 1st round EHS '09 (5-6) exit 1st round '10 (6-5) exit 1st round '10 (9-5) exit 3rd round '11 (5-5) none '11 (8-4) exit 2nd round '12 (8-5) exit 3rd round '12 (11-3) exit 4th round '13 (6-5) exit 1st round '13 (10-2) exit 2nd round Now before someone will say, WE PLAY BETTER TEAMS...last year both the Vikings and Cyclones played the SAME teams that were; Johnson County, Sullivan South, Science Hill, Daniel Boone and David Crockett. Regular season has 10 games so this is half-of-the-season teams. Common opponents scores were like this.... THS scored 194 points and gave up 97. Having lost two games of the common opponents. EHS scored 188 points and gave up 67. Lost one game to common opponents. EHS scored 9 fewer points BUT gave up 30 fewer points. So one might or could say EHS is 21 points better and one win better last year. But, yes that was last year. We can't and shouldn't live in the past. I wish the Vikings all the best this season. I am and always will be a fan of our East Tennessee teams, so nothing but respect to all. Now, if these two teams are that much alike as Cap 1 has stated, then even better for Betsy! They say the best form of flattery is impersonation. GO CYCLONES !!!!
  7. Thanks ! I try and research each team as much as possible. Like to see how they've been playing. Was going to place both teams total stats but can't obtain enough on the Vikings. Just to let the Cyclone faithful know, this is what I've gotten for the orange and black; Rushing yards per game: 337.3 Rushing total: 154 carries for 1,349 yds = 8.8 yds per carry Passing yards per game: 161.5 Passing totals: 57 attempts to 37 completions = 646.0 yds Passing %: .649 Yards per pass: 17.5 Longest pass: 94 yds Total yards per game: 498.75 Touchdowns: 29 Tackles: 277 (solo-184 asst- 93) Tackles for a loss: 16 Forced Fumbles: 1 per game Fumble Recovery: 1.25 per game Sacks: 1 per game Ints: 1 per game Kick Off: 33 for 1,428 yds = 285.6 Punts: 5 for 170 yds = 34.0 Kick Return: 8 for 156 yds = 19.5 Punt Return: 5 for 20.0 yds = 4.0 Field Goals: 0 attempted PATs: 27 of 29 = .900
  8. Landers roll on this one. 60 plus points if they so choose. TCC will be out manned and out gunned way before the ball even snaps.
  9. Going to be an exciting game for sure! Being a big Betsy fan I think I'll share a few comparing stats before I place my pick and prediction for the scores: Tennessee High - has a record of (4 - 0) with wins over Johnson County (2-2) Sullivan South (4-1) Virginia High (1-3) and Sullivan Central (1-3). Combined opponent win/loss 8-9. The Vikings are avg 42.3 points per game with the bulk of them coming in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. They have scored 169 points and have allowed 68 points. Much improved from a year ago they have a perfect season and lots of confidence on their side. Avenging one loss already by beating Sullivan South they are sure to be bringing their "A" game! But Sullivan South is the only team that the Vikings have played that have a solid winning record and Johnson County at a weak .500 standing. Elizabethton - has a record of (3-1) with wins over Daniel Boone (3-1) Sullivan East (3-2) and David Crockett (2-3). Only loss is to Science Hill (4-0). Combined opponent win/loss 12-4. Betsy has avg 50.3 points per game with equal scoring through the first three quarters. The Cyclones have scored 201 points and have allowed 103 points. (56 of the 103 given up by Betsy was to Science Hill and 35 of those came in the first quarter.) The Cyclones too are much improved from last year. The unknown variable of Thomas isn't unknown to the Vikings anymore. They greatly over looked him last year and have a plan set no doubt to stop the run. With a much improved passing attack this year with 161.5 yds per game, Betsy is by no means having to rely only on the run. With all that being said; Tennesse High comes into this game with the "Big Mo' on their side but this game isn't at "The Catsle" and they will be needing more from RB King to repeat a win over Betsy. Recovering a much needed fumble and scoring from 54 yds and a perfect "Ethan Thomas" type run by King for 88 yds let Tennesse High escape with a win over South. Elizabethton on the other hand hasn't faultered since that "One" quarter against Science Hill. Defense has been solid and will continue to do so. Contain King and froce the Vikings to throw in a hostile setting and Betsy gets the "W". Vikings 21 - Cyclones 35
  10. -Sullivan South has a shut out (South 49 - Unicoi 0) -Johnson County is too strong on the D-line for Happy Valley (Johnson County 35 - HV 14) -Sullivan East has had some good looks in games thus far, but I see North and it's option running attack a huge problem for East. (North 28 - East 14) -Betsy much needed rest and time to get ready for Tennesse High on the 26th
  11. Unaka have themselves on a up swing and will benefit from their improvements on down the road. This game isn't the one that they improve on though. Cloudland by as many as they want! way to many weapons and playing at home makes it even worse for the creekers. Unaka 6 - Cloudland 56
  12. Ok call it beginners luck! If the two extra points would've been made I hit the final score dead spot on! Great job by the Cyclones tonight. Enjoy it for tonight then.... Back to work.
  13. Cloudland has a few players back this year that haven't been there in awhile. Easy for the Horns to overlook them. I think one of the most over looked players for Cloudland will be the Rhinehart kid. He's alot like his dad and if coach uses him correctly, he can be a huge surprise to the Longhorns. Johnson Coounty 28 - Cloudland 42
  14. LOL! Ok I got censored on my second post by using another sites name! Got to watch that stuff I guess. Anyway, the "Unapproved Website" has Ethan at a 5.4 out of 6.1 and no current state or national ranking.
  15. BigBama42 I'm sure you do! Like Bama needs another big punishing back! I just want E to go somewhere that he can not only develop as a player but as a man. A quality education that will be so much more after football is over. Unapproved Website has him as a Two Star now and will update again after week five. Just 57 yards short of 5,000 is incredible and he still has more than half the season. If it's Bama, VT, Duke or whoever, just want to see the young man succeed. I've coached him away from football and he is an amazing athlete and just as much a humble young man.
  16. Ok, been watching from the sidelines for a while and I've noticed how others have to give their "two cents worth" about the Cyclones. So , guess I'll join in. Crockett coming into the game will be fired up and ready to build on the success they've had thus far. One loss to Science Hill (27- 63) has them pretty confident. I think they will make a game of it for a quarter then reality will hit and hit hard. In the form of 28 running down hill! This Crockett team has scored 90 points this year and have wins over Sullivan East (26 - 20) and against Unicoi County (37 -14) but have given up 97 points. Betsy has two common opponents and have already played those teams. Science Hill (34 - 56) which shows that Betsy scored 7 more offensive points and gave up 7 fewer than Crockett so that could be a 14 point advantage there. Then we have Sullivan East. The Cyclones won at East (63 - 27) which was 37 more points than Crockett scored on offense and East scored 27 on Betsy so thats a -7 defensively. Thus, a 30 point advantage from this game. With just the two common opponents Betsy has 44 point advantage before they even suit up! Now add to the mix that it's Ethans senior year and it only increases. On the offensive side the Cyclones have scored 146 points and have only given up 83. Crockett may have all the swagger they need to come to the game but that's were it ends. With Armstrong throwing to the tallest (if no the most athletic) receiver Jaylen Smith, I only see the passing game opening up and making Betsy more of a threat than last year. This group of men are hungry to win and win they shall. David Crockett 21 - Cyclones 56 Best to all the fans, players, coaches and cheerleaders that will be making the trip up to Elizabethton Friday night. Praying for a safe journey to them and an injury free game for both teams. Nothing but respect for our East Tennessee teams!
