  1. This would be a good game to watch on TV, many good players on both sides!
  2. Players coach: If all privates get moved to D2 next year, will the Knoxville teams still be in DCAs district? Im sure you will not object to the travel being minimized.
  3. Time to get off the bandwagon that schools like Maryville, Alcoa, Milan, CPA, CAK to name a few, have this mysterious advantage over others. What all these schools have in common, whether public or private, is: 1) great community support. Typically these successful programs have great booster clubs who are very active and supportive. 2) supportive administration. I'm not talking about just "yes" men, but folds who understand the balance of what it takes to be successful on and off the field. 3) very good facilities developed OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME because of SUCESS ON THE FIELD. 4) not only great head coaches, but also, in my opinion just as important, a great set of assistant coaches who KNOW HOW TO COACH FOOTBALL and are not some admin son in law or nephew who has their position because of who they are and not ability. The last time I checked, none of the above are against TSSSA rules. LASTLY, great players who are not recruited, but players and families who recognize the above and WANT to be a part of a great program. If the above mentioned items are in place, THE PROGRAM RECRUITS ITSELF!!! Congrats to all the teams who made the finals, even more so to the teams who are in the finals on a regular basis.
  4. Spin this any way you want. 2 years ago CPA lost "multiple multi-season starters" and did just fine, as a matter of fact they still made it to state. Why not expect them to do the same this year? What is the difference this year? CPA is still full of great athletes who have been there since grade school so again what is the difference now? In reading many posts over the last few years about CPA basketball, many, not all, but many CPA supporters have said the core of the team were the kids who have been there since grade school, so what's the difference now in terms of expectations? Explain.
  5. The best thing to come out of CPA basketball this year will be once and for all it can be somewhat settled has CPA basketball flourished under Coach M due to the players who transferred in or due to superior coaching? If CPA makes it to the final 8 in AA this year with the talent currently at the school, then one must give credit to Coach M and give both he and CPA their due for developing players. Since the worst CPA has done in the last 5-6 years is go to the final 8 at state, anything less than this, no matter who is on the team currently, would show CPA is just a product of how well players are brought in from AAU.
  6. They lost to Cain Ridge in BB yesterday, you don't see this happen often. Coach Brooks, what is your opinion of the year ahead for CPA men's BB team?
  7. 1.CAK Alcoa 2. CAK Alcoa 3. CAK Alcoa
  8. That's a long way to Murfreesboro each day, not sure he would have any interest, would be a good get for greenbrier.
  9. Be careful nerd, traveling anywhere outside the country is getting dangerous no matter where you go.
  10. I believe they should call David Martin at Stewart's Creek. All he has done there is to take a new school in the hardest district in TN and won 6 games in his 3rd year. I believe he still lives in the area so it would be closer for him, also he could give GP a little payback. Thoughts?
  11. Yep, last time I checked the rules, the Russian choke hold could not be used in football unless you could do it when the ref was not looking.
  12. I am not trying to take up for BigChief, he is very capable of doing this himself. However in reading many of these posts, chief appears to be one of the few who are trying to look towards the future and at least offer some encouragement for Goodpasture. I would not intentionally insult a group of 16-18 year old young men who give their all to play regardless of record, but chief brought up a good point about the record of these classes in middle school. It looks like Goodpasture just has a dip in the overall talent level currently. Let the past be the past, you are not changing it no matter what. Take a similar attitude as chief and get behind the current coach and players, if everyone at Goodpasture would take a positive stance going forward, you might be surprised how this would impact all areas of Goodpasture including football.
