  1. I'm going to go with Houston County on this one. I haven't seen them play, but I've seen Clarkrange play in and out of the state tournament and if they don't change their usual strategy, they'll be going home. During the regular season, they are known for playing rough, and usually it bites them in the tail when they get to Murfreesboro and the officials don't allow it like some local Refs. (i.e. Meggs county last year.) It should be a good game though!
  2. This was a great game for Single A Basketball as a whole! Pickett county had some fire beneath them, mainly from Buck and Pritchett. I think that the stage was the downfall for Pickett. they haven't been to the murphy center in quite a while, and my guess is that nerves is what caused Ferryl to be off her game. I felt for her tonight as the pressure on her back could be felt from the stands. Good game overall though! Middleton did a good job of holding her to 3 though. I didn't expect them to be that good!
  3. i respect you saying that. When you're wrong your wrong. i thought that JC would be in the state tournament this year, but i was sadly mistaken.
  4. true, but Jackson did that and Won by 20 and 14
  5. Van Buren hosts Pickett County tonight, and i was wondering everyone's predictions? Keep in mind that Pickett beat Jackson twice (once in double OT), Livingston, and Clarkrange. I predict Pickett winning by 10.
  6. JC has no business at the State Tournament?? That's one of the most ignorant comments I've ever had the displeasure of reading. They've actually won a Gold Ball, and a Runner-up in there careers. And made impacts on those exceptional teams. Feel free to mention more decorated girls in your program. I'll give credit where credit is due. Because of a past-halfcourt shot that was by mere chance. Nothing more to it.
  7. You say that 7a is not as good as it was. But really, 7a only lost two players last year. Jaycee Coe and Tessa Dailey. To my knowledge Pickett lost no one. Allen, Flynn, Sheryll, phillips, shaver, cooper, meadows, van ruden, ferryl, buck, and mcllelan stayed in 7a and had an entire year to better their abilities. Maybe we did get carried away, but we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
  8. I'm not sure what i was wrong about? i said that coach brown said in an article that he had never had a freshman playing in a state championship win when it mattered. Allen was in all 32 minutes and Flynn played some of the first have and the entire second half
  9. It seems to me that you're the only fan "rioting" as you put it. That's laughable. Allen averaged more points, rebounds, and if i'm not mistaken assists than Cooper, who won 7a MVP. The reason kassidy lost? most likely because Clarkrange beat JC both match ups. I think it's ironic that you blasted me earlier in the forum for simply giving my opinion that i believed Allen to be a better player, but now you are doing the exact same thing against Allen. The only difference is that i said i believed Bouldin should also be nominated. From the info I've gathered she is receiving heavy looks from UTC and other colleges. I think, with everyone writing on here about her, there would be a "riot' if she weren't nominated.
  10. I'm glad you asked that question. There are really two reasons. 1st- Kassidy Allen isn't the only good player on her team, like many schools who have a runaway player that is fed the ball on every possession. She has Cameron Sheryll, Mckenzie Flynn, and Lindsey Phillips who are notable players that will possibly play at the next level. 2nd- Jackson County plays many teams outside of their district that you are probably unaware of. Just over Christmas break they traveled to Florida to play in a Christmas tournament with teams that have elite talent. Don't be fooled in thinking that they only play 8 tough games each year. Plus, 1/3 of the schedule would make quite an impact on anyone's stat points if taken into account.
  11. I remember reading an article that interviewed coach brown and he said that he had never had a freshman playing when it mattered in a state championship win.
  12. That's exactly my point, you can stack higher stats with a weaker district.
  13. I'm not sure i follow you. You're saying that 3 out of the five teams in 7 A are better than any other district, and that those three teams could beat VB by double digits but then you go on to say that with all that said, 7A isn't that good and it's like every other district. that's a majority. Honestly, i couldn't name another team in VB's district. Of course every district has bad teams in it, but when the majority is on the level that the majority of 7a is, that's what makes 7a the best for single a ball
  14. It's not only history, even though that's a part of it, and 22 state championships come from it. Perhaps you say this because you have a better Single A district in mind. Let's hear it. With players like Allen, Cooper, Shaver, Ferell, Meadows, and Flynn to name a few, it better be one heck of a district!
  15. District 7a stats were just released in the Herald-Citizen. Allen led district 7A in scoring along with Meadows from Clarkrange averaging 14.7 points during the regular season. She was also second in rebounds behind 6'2 Meadows, with 6.7 rebounds (Allen being a wing), and 2.7 assists per game. To have such a great impact of 7A is worthy of recognition! i stand by my bid for Allen!
  16. Once again, i will say that i believe Bouldin is an exceptional player, so it doesn't surprise me that UTC is looking at her. I don't know why you're acting like i think she is a bad player. Shes a great player! On the other hand, I'm sure colleges are looking hard at Allen. Coe didn't win a state ring without Allen either. She was the only starter not yet on the team when they lost in 2012. She hit two huge threes the next year when they brought home the gold. I'm not forgetting, my point is that when Van Buren plays in their district and region, they do exceptional. When you branch out, they don't fair too well. This means that their is a big difference in competition levels, giving allen a bigger challenge because she plays those caliber teams constantly. With everything being said, I wish Allen and Bouldin nothing but the best and in an ideal world both would be nominated. I think both are crucial assets to their team! Cant wait for nominations to be announced. Does anyone know when announcements will be made?
  17. You're right it doesn't look the same, but they also haven't advanced past substate so it isn't a mute point. Also, Allen, had a higher field goal percentage than Jaycee Coe last year. MVP of her team, no doubt. i haven't disputed that.
  18. I'm just not familiar enough with West Carroll or Heckert to give any commentary. But she sounds like a great young lady!
  19. I'm not penalizing anyone, I'm simply calling it how it is. I have said time and again that i think Bouldin is a fine athlete that will go on to achieve great things. However, i have watched both Allen and Bouldin play and i would pick Allen any day of the week. It's a fact that Bouldin plays in the worst Single A district in the state, and it's a fact that Allen plays in the best. The only person being penalized is Allen when people mention that Bouldin has much higher stats, but they don't realize that Allen plays with 4 teammates that are of District 7a caliber making it harder to have such high stats. If Allen were to switch places with Bouldin, there is no doubt in my mind that she would dominate Bouldin's district and region. We were simply saying that if your team's only "play" is to pass the ball to Bouldin, it isn't possible for her to have low stats. Surely you can't disagree that being on a team that has won district 7a the last 5 years and been in the state championship game the last 3, that Allen faces much more of a challenge than Bouldin.
  20. I thought this was posted from my account at first because of the similarities in our handles, ha. But, i couldn't agree with you more. Very well said! I found something interesting yesterday. I went back and looked at the JC Vs. Van buren record since Allen and Bouldin have been playing and the record is 7-0 in favor of Jackson County, which shows the difference in the caliber of teams they play for. (one game VB lost by 51 points. I wish both of them the best as they both seem to be class acts, but in my opinion, it would be a travesty if Allen didn't get Miss Basketball.
  21. Thanks Jimbo44. was that last year or this year? I've seen girls that average more than what Allen averages but when you take into account that she plays in 1) the hands-down toughest single A district in the state and 2) She plays on arguably the best Single A school, historically speaking and finally, 3) she played alongside notable JC Alumni they really are impressive numbers! I was talking to a good friend a few days ago about standouts, and he mentioned that its easier for a good player to rack up stats if they play in a weak district or on a weak team, where the only "play" is for the team to pass the ball to that person. I reiterate what i wrote earlier when i said that for her to play on such a good team and make the dents she has made as an underclassman is something else!
  22. I just went back and checked and Allen was Upper Cumberland Freshman of the Year 2013
  23. I'm going to stick with what i know for sure, and give you the facts but i intend to update my post later with more recent information. Class A My nomination for Class A would be 5' 11'' Junior Kassidy Allen from Jackson County High. When you look at a Miss Basketball finalist, you shouldn't only look at what they themselves have achieved (though that is very important), but you look at what they've done to advance their team. I looked back at info. i had found in articles and her achievements are plentiful. -Upper Cumberland Freshman of the Year -District 7a All Tournament Team x2 -Region 4a All Tournament Team -Class A All State Team x2 -Upper Cumberland honorable mention and Upper Cumberland all second team -District 7a all first and third teams As a team she has helped the Lady Devils to 2 District Championships in 7a 1 Region Championship 1 Class A State Championship 1 Class A State Runner-up She has started her entire high school career and at the very least deserves a nomination. She has, in my opinion did what her team needed of her, being a truly unselfish player. When Flynn got her due to an ACL, Allen stepped up as a PG, Sacrificing the ability to be a big scorer, instead leaving that to Coe. She has played for the biggest powerhouse program in Single A, alongside such players as Brooklyn Apple (Lipscomb), Makenzie Hensley (VA-Wise) and of course, two time Miss Basketball Winner, Jaycee Coe (UK). My guess is that her stats aren't as impressive as those of some other players because it's harder to average a ton of stats when everyone on your team is capable of what Jackson County is historically capable of.
  24. Phillips did exceptional from the charity stripe tonight, and although allen fouled out halfway through the fourth quarter, she made quite a presence in both offense and defense throughout the course of the game. I think that jackson proved they can utilize their natural bball IQ, physical aggressiveness of Phillips, and unmatched athleticism in Allen and Flynn to win big games. On the other side of the gym, McClellan was a spot up shooter, as was the Pritchett girl. I felt at the end, mcclellan should have been left in, as she had the momentum of a made 3 pointer, but was taken out ineffectively. I predict if they meet again, both sides will be ready.
