  1. Our team is in need a few 8/9 grade girls who are interested in playing spring ball from March to late May. The team is based out of Chattanooga with most practices on Signal. The focus of the team is on individual improvement and learning how to play the game. If interested please text to 423.718.1258.
  2. TN United is looking for a few 8th girls interested in playing travel ball this spring. The focus of the team will continue to be individual improvement and team play. If interested call 423.718.1258. Thanks!
  3. It's no surprise really. Those boys are giving it all they have but this is a very different SM team with few go-to options on offense. Signal has some talented guys on D and stout lineman but they just get worn down and they really struggle defending in space against speed. Have to feel for their boys a little. How many more injuries will they have?
  4. Need some help. When and where do CM and CC play? Thinking of making the drive from Chattanooga. Thanks.
  5. Whenever I'm done coaching, I want to make it out to some of the real, traditional basketball crazy towns in the area to catch games. In your opinions, what are some can't miss locales?
  6. We are thinking about making the drive from Chattanooga today. One of you guys care to let us know if the games are on?
  7. Any word on the games for tomorrow night? I would imagine there is a real chance they'd be postponed. Our SM lady eagles will be playing either UH or LA. Any reports on how good these teams are? We are still pretty young but have a very athletic backcourt
  8. Is it snowing up there? Mostly rain down here
  9. I'm not real up to date on 8AA. Are UH and LA in consolation game and if so is that a bit of a surprise? How does everyone think the Chattanooga teams will fare vs. them? Thanks.
  10. Easy. Not saying Baylor is all world. In fact, they really rub me the wrong way. Only saying that in a Chattanooga they are the best I've seen and that their most talented players are young. Maybe dominant wasn't the best word but it was pretty clear that game was never much in doubt. Much of the reason I was there was to see MC play for I really respect what they do. So calm down. Baylor is good. MC had absolutely no answer for their PG, not that most teams would.
  11. Looks like Baylor is class of a Chattanooga area (HHeights as well). Scary thing is they are so young. All those athletic guards will be coming back and their PG is big time. They dominated Meigs again during Best of Preps. Other than them, no other girls team looked too impressive. The Central boys are unbelievable. Incredible athleticism they put on display in victory over Brainerd.
  12. True..always a real threat, especially if they nab certain ones. In this case, a new coach might actually help, who knows.
  13. I think Troll was referring to coaches in general. If you have the opportunity to coach 10 years in GA and get their retirement, that would be hard to pass up.
  14. I already have enough boogers now..upper respiratory stuff. Come to think of it, the MS has some nice WR's too. And I'm sure somewhere along the line we'll get some kids from out of zone and I hope the'll get a good education there. And all across the state other kids will find themselves at a school that surprises people. I don't need a lot of posts to recognize that to constantly berate SM for recruiting (when you cheer for a private) when every darn program across the state does it is childish at best. Anyway, you seem like a good chap..just making a statement is all.
  15. Your handle is getting old...I say again...the young man I was referring to is in MS..he's going to be special. That is all. Where did I say anything about recruiting?
  16. Won't say names and put undue pressure, bout SM's QB of the future is in MS and he's not far off where Phillips was at the same age. Now, SM just needs to find some wideouts...
  17. Part of what makes HS sports fun in general are these rivalries. Our Irish friend keeps referring to the rich white kids. Really? That's a silly statement to make when not knowing the details. There are MANY kids on our team from SM who come from families that struggle sometimes to make it, just like at Seq or ND. This is a fact. And yes, it may be frustrating for some to see inner-city athletes suiting up for a team many perceive to have 'it all.'keep this in mind. The majority of these kids are great young men who also work hard in the classroom. I can think of one in particular who came from a terrible family background and who is now in college. He actually resisted a gang culture and life of crime by attending SM. He never would have made it attending his zoned school. Never. The teachers at school consistently sing the praises of the majority of these kids. So maybe keep that in mind, esp since this whole hardship thing is completely legal. I think we can all agree that offering the chance for kids to attend a good school and have a future is a good thing, regardless of the school they attend, be it SC or ND. Also, these hardships must be resigned every year so the kids know that must maintain good character and solid grades in order for that to happen. As far as losing in the 2nd round again, it is a frustrating ending for sure. It seems that when SM has played really strong teams we've come up short. I think it's safe to say we relied too heavily on one player offensively. I do know that what BP has accomplished here is darned impressive. Remember, we were a brand new school with very little football history in the community. Heck, the seniors who won state (mostly SM boys) never even played tackle football in elementary school. Anyone who said we'd win state in our 3rd year is lying. In many ways BP is a victim of his own success.
  18. For anyone to say BP hasn't done an incredible job @ SM is nuts. I'll bet they're still playing now w/o the injury to 11. So he has a small play book. Who cares? His system has worked well at SM. Maybe if SM had a Kid like Kareem they'd put the ball up more but their wideouts were very average. He called the plays that gave his team the best chance to win. Back in the day with kids like Patton and Queen with Phillips and Whitmire at QB they consistently challenged teams downfield. You may not like him and that's fine but you sound foolish when saying the man cannot coach football.
  19. True...and yet lots of personalities to mesh together there. Once again SM was out rebounded big time..continues to be an Achilles heel for them, especially against teams like Grundy and Seq Co.
  20. Wonder who wii be coaching the team next year. If a change is made those are some big shoes to fill.
  21. Sanders scored 36 tonight for SM in a close win over SD. By the way SD has some good young talent.
  22. It really is amazing how a short drive west over the plateau can change the quality of girls bball that you see. The girls there simply play with a different mindset and intensity that you don't see in Chattanooga area.
