  1. TSSAA: DII football will be divided into 3 classes. Schools with enrollments up to 266 will be in Class A - up to 265. AA - 266-530. 531 plus - AAA
  2. I combined a couple of spreadsheets that are for different things, so if including one all-girls school was my only mistake, I'll be shocked. Ha. Here is the complete list that I have. I was initially concentrating on the larger schools, so I'm not sure I even included every private school. Enrollment figures are from TSSAA website (http://tssaa.org/tssaa-enrollment-figures-for-2015-16-2016-17-classification/). An asterisk indicates they are currently in Div. 1. 1 Christian Bros (Mem) (867) 1734 2 McCallie (Male) (666) 1332 3 MBA (Male) (510) 1020 4 Father Ryan 958 5 MUS (Male) (446) 892 6 St. Benedict 891 7 Baylor 697 8 Knox Catholic* 650 9 PJP II 575 10 Briarcrest 568 11 Lipscomb* 509 12 Brentwood Academy 489 13 Webb (Knoxville) 471 14 Ensworth 462 15 CCS 439 16 CAK* 426 t-17 CPA* 419 t-17 St. George 419 19 Notre Dame* 417 20 Evangelical Christian* 384 21 Harding 376 22 USJ 344 23 Lausanne 337 24 BGA 326 25 First Assembly 316 26 Northpoint 304 27 Grace Christian* 303 28 Goodpasture* 301 29 Silverdale* 295 30 Boyd* 271 31 Franklin Rd Acad 248 32 Trinity* 245 33 JCS* 239 34 Davidson 233 35 Friendship Christian 231 36 DCA 218 37 MTCS* 214 38 Fayette Academy 212 39 Columbia Academy* 211 40 Tipton Rosemark 199 41 Clarksville Academy* 194 42 Nashville Christian* 192 43 Ezell-Harding 183 44 St Andrews 168 45 Grace Baptist* 160 46 Memphis Cath 154 47 MJCA 143 48 Kings Academy 140 49 Zion 133 50 Rossville 127 51 Concord Christian 106 Couldn't find info on Grace Christian Franklin or TN Christian. 3. You may be right on on Super Conference - nothing would surprise me. There are currently only 11 teams in D2-AA - those you list above less Knox Catholic, Knox Webb and Lipscomb but adding Ensworth (plays up) and MUS (all-male). Here are the enrollment figures currently (doubling for all-male) for the largest 30 privates (I may have missed something): 1 Christian Bros (Mem) (867) 1734 2 McCallie (Male) (666) 1332 3 MBA (Male) (510) 1020 4 Father Ryan 958 5 MUS (Male) (446) 892 6 St. Benedict 891 7 Baylor 697 8 Knox Catholic* 650 9 PJP II 575 10 Briarcrest 568 11 Lipscomb* 509 12 Brentwood Academy 489 13 Webb (Knoxville) 471 14 Ensworth 462 15 CCS 439 16 CAK* 426 t-17 CPA* 419 t-17 St. George 419 19 Notre Dame* 417 20 Evangelical Christian* 384 21 Harding 376 22 USJ 344 23 Lausanne 337 24 BGA 326 25 First Assembly 316 26 Northpoint 304 27 Grace Christian* 303 28 Goodpasture* 301 29 Silverdale* 295 30 Hutchison 281 31 Boyd* 271 32 Franklin Rd Acad 248 Ensworth will likely want to continue to play up. Knox Catholic is #8 in enrollment among the privates, so they'll be tapped to play in the large division. So, how likely would it be for the TSSAA to have only 1 Knoxville team in this division? It would seem to make more sense to have at least 16 teams in the largest division, so there could be 3 Knoxville teams and 3 Chattanooga teams. Those 6 teams could be one region, the 6 Middle TN teams could be a region, and the 4 West TN teams could remain a region. I know nothing..... Just putting it out there.
  4. Why do many projections assume that there will be 3 classifications in DII? Why not keep it at only 2 classifications? Even with 24-25 schools in each classification, everyone could still make the playoffs (so TSSAA would still get the gate from as many games as possible). I don't like when a championship can be won with only 3 games.
  5. He's a very good player and impressive to watch. Very deserving and sounds like an outstanding young man. Congrats. I hope to see great things from him in the future.
  6. I agree with not counting out MBA. This will be a very competitive game and likely much closer than the previous meeting. BA took advantage of several MBA miscues the first game and played great defense. With BA's top LB out, Chandler will be very tough to stop. I think the key will be the BA noseguard, Adams, vs MBA's interior line. Adams is a beast and clogs up the middle. If MBA can slow him down (like McCallie did pretty well), Chandler will find some holes. I think MBA has more success offensively in this game than the previous meeting. I think they will hit some big plays to their TEs, since BA's LBs will be looking to stop the RB. But, I think BA still wins in a shootout. Should be a lot of fun to watch!
  7. Both games should be very good - highly competitive with lots of quality players on the field. If BA doesn't play horribly, they should win. I just don't think Baylor can outscore them - but I've been wrong before! Hard for me to predict the MBA - Christian Bros game. I haven't seen them and can only compare scores with Briarcrest via BA and MUS via Baylor - a long daisy chain indeed. CBHS played 2 good OOS teams. If CBHS can contain MBA's RB, they have a great chance. Of course, nobody has contained him this year.
  8. This should be a great game. If Baylor's DL can cause some havoc, allowing Parker and the LBs to make some plays, it should be close. They also need to force some turnovers. The Baylor offense is going to have to score a lot, because BA will get its points. Unless Baylor forces three or more turnovers, I think BA wins handily.
  9. Agreed. Pretty dead atmosphere last night. Briarcrest brought a lot of people - good for them! They were very vocal. I don't understand the lack of interest, so I have no idea how to get more people there. This BA team is a lot of fun to watch.
  10. Baylor is very good. They will be tough to beat. I haven't seen MUS play this year. But, MUS is always very good in the playoffs and always seems to improve during the season. Based on results, this isn't as strong of an MUS team as usual, but I will not bet against them playing at home in the playoffs. (I have done that 2 of the last 3 years when they beat BA.) Both teams will be well prepared. This should be a great game, but I'm going with MUS. That's a hard place to win in November!
  11. DII-AA LINEMAN Ben Hill, Christian Brothers Ryan Johnson, Brentwood Academy Bryce Mathews, Brentwood Academy Ryan Parker, Baylor DII-AA BACK Ty Chandler, MBA Austin Lee, Christian Brothers Jeremiah Oatsvall, Brentwood Academy Thomas Pickens, MUS So why is Ryan Parker of Baylor a finalist as a lineman? Why isn't he considered a back? Just wondering........
  12. Haha! I had to watch part of the game as well, since NFL Red Zone wasn't working for some reason. It was great seeing a few explosive plays.
  13. Backs: Ryan Parker, Baylor; Jeremiah Oatsvall, BA; Ty Montgomery, MBA Linemen: Brandon Adams, BA (honestly can't name anyone else)
  14. Nice post, pepvol. And again, back to the game.... Ty Chandler is a great RB. Very elusive and so fast - and only a junior! He seemed to fall forward for 3-4 extra yards on lots of plays. BA really did well to hold him in check most of the night. He got lots of yards, but only broke one play - an 80-yarder.
  15. Oatsvall has improved immensely since he took over at QB during the first game last year. His accuracy is much better (seemingly each week). And he has led BA's offense to average 47 points per game in DII-AA play: including against Baylor and MBA, 2 very good defenses. He seems to be leading the BA team pretty well this year. Also, I haven't heard anyone mention his competitiveness. He has been in big games before and does not seem to get rattled, regardless of the situation. As to the game, BA's defense has been very good this year. Adams at NG is just a beast, consistently stuffing the middle. And Mullen at LB has been outstanding.
  16. Kudos to Christian Brothers for scheduling another very tough out of state opponent. CBHS (MO) is, according to several rankings, the best team in Missouri and in the top 50-60 in the nation. After edging White Station in Week 1, CBHS (TN) has dominated everyone they have faced except the other nationally ranked OOS opponent, LaSalle (OH). They should find out more about themselves this week before finishing the season with a big game against MUS.
  17. I haven't seen MBA this year - is their QB the same as last year? I thought the QB last year was a senior. And yes, he killed BA last year; he was very good with his feet and arm. MBA's RB is a stud. Doesn't sound like anyone has contained him yet this year. Looking forward to this matchup. It could decide who has to go to Memphis for a semi-final game (which BA should hope to avoid like the plague).
  18. Ensworth does a masterful job of diminishing the opposition's advantages. BA likes to wear the opposition down by spreading the field to make the defense cover the whole field and snapping the ball very early to run more plays. If BA gets a few first downs, the defense is gassed, and one missed tackle results in a big play. When Ensworth gets the ball, they take their time and bleed the clock, snapping the ball with just a few seconds on the play clock. Fewer possessions, which puts the emphasis on making each possession count - execution, eliminate turnovers, and reduce penalties. Ensworth is always superior in those areas. I look forward to seeing this match up!
  19. My bad! I just assumed Craig was still QB, because he was so good last year. Trotter was a beast, and paired with Craig made a scary 1-2 punch.
  20. Wow - great video! That's well-produced trash talking!!! I haven't seen McCallie play this year, but based on their results, they must be very good. They always have tons of speed, and the QB is a threat to go the distance on every play. I know Baylor is very good, so this should be a great game. By the way, Chattanooga is beautiful. I love that city.
  21. Yes, impressive win by Ensworth. CPA looked like the better team in the first half, with E having almost no offense. CPA had a few nice drives, but their scores were on big plays. Other than that, E played a pretty strong bend but don't break defense. Completely different game in the second half. E ran the ball well and had very timely throws. Their QB looked really good when he had time to throw- strong arm. E won the field position battle, as CPA started inside their 15 on every drive in the second half (I think). All that to say, BA should have a significant size and speed advantage. BA had an extra week to prepare with the bye last week. No doubt E has some wrinkles they didn't show against CPA. But, there's also no doubt E will not show all their wrinkles Friday, either, since they may play each other in the playoffs. I'm looking forward to the game. They should bring out the best in each other.
  22. I completely agree, BBD. Hopefully, this game (and the MUS playoff debacles in 2 of the last 3 years) will convince BA (players and coaches) to not let up on the gas until the game is over - as in the final whistle. Admittedly, it is hard to keep focus when you are dominating a team. What I saw against Baylor was a BA team that started coasting when they got up 29-0 and then got the ball back late in the 2nd quarter. They figured they would continue to dominate but forgot to execute. It's crazy to say, but I actually hate to see BA jump on a good team early and build a large lead. That has been a bad formula for BA in the last few years.
  23. Back to the game, very impressed with Baylor for hanging in the game when trailing 29-0 late in the first half (equally unimpressed with BA for letting them hang in). BA completely dominated them until the blocked punt set up the short field for the Baylor score. The momentum stayed with Baylor in the second half. At 29-27, I was glad to see BA target Cam Johnson for the long TD pass. Baylor came back with a good drive - maybe assisted by some questionable calls. But BA held them to a FG. And I LOVED that BA lined up with a TE & FB on the ensuing drive and ran some power football to move down the field. #15 for Baylor is a great player. He was in on so many tackles and had some great runs at RB. Fun to watch him play. Baylor's QB is also very good.
  24. Based on national rankings alone, this is a very impressive showing by MUS. USP is obviously very good, and it sounds like MUS more than held their own against them. That just underscores how competitive d2AA is. So many good teams.
  25. MUS is always a factor in who wins the championship, as they always improve during the season. BA must have nightmares of playing MUS in the playoffs.
