The Viqueens looked awesome tonight. Their defence held Hawn to 5 points. Waggoner had 7. Marissa Jones had 15 for Community. Way to go Viqueens. Keep working hard. It will pay off.

What happened to MTCS last night? I would have sworn that MTCS would win.

Yes that was the score. Both teams played mostly zone and there were very few fouls. Good job Viqueens!

If I remember correctly, they beat both Cascade and Eagleville last year, and had key injuries to two starters toward the end of the season. Those two are both back with 2 experienced subs who played most of the second half of the year. Just looks to me that they should not be overlooked. They went to the region and only lost to the number one seed by 3 points.

Community has 5 starters back and you pick them 5th in the district? I sure don't understand that reasoning.

Anyone in the area knows that the player referred to by AuntKim and ptguard12 is a child that attended 3 schools in less than 2 years and lives less than a mile from a 4th school that she also attended in the past. Here's my question: Where is TSSAA when all of this is happening? They evidently did NO investigation at all or they would have never approved the transfers. Anyone who lives in the area knows the whole story. How much faith can schools have in that organization when they see the rules being flaunted like this?

Fantastic Game!! Community down by 16 at one time in the first half. Came back strong. Made adjustments and won with free throws by Small and Vassar with less than 15 seconds left. Their first year coach, Allison Layne did a great job down the stretch.

There are two key matchups in 9A on Tuesday-- MTCS at Forrest and Community at Cascade. What are the thoughts on these?

I have found out that the classic has been cancelled. Unionville teams will play Webb anyway on the 28th, but I couldn't find out about Cascade.

I understand there will be no Bedford County Classic. Does anybody know where Cascade and Unionville will be playing over Christmas?

I happened to be able to attend the Community/Van Buren game last night and I was completely entertained. The Viqueens put up a focused, team oriented, unselfish game, and even though they missed some easy chip shots, their hustle made up for it, and it paid off. Good job, Viqueens!!

Who will be the new coach for Community?

I am a SPORTS FANATIC, but I do see one big problem---Very young children being "burned out" before they get to the age to really be dedicated on their own. Example: my young daughters (7 and 8) play basketball, soccer, and softball- each in its season. At softball practise the other day, one little girl wasn't at practice. She had AAU basketball practice. Nothing wrong with that except that she is also playing indoor soccer and will also be playing on a travel softball team. The child is involved in 4 sports at the same time, she has to keep school work up, and she is only 8 years old. Now, before I'm told to mind my own business, that her parents know best, let me say that I totally agree. It is entirely their call. I'm only wondering if the child will not get to the point that she doesn't like ANY of the sports. Maybe not, but personally I think that a child that young shouldn't be overloaded. Expose them to different sports, yes, let them determine which is the real focus they want to pursue, and then work hard toward that goal. In my position I see so many young kids burned out early, I can't help but worry about that.

TSSAA states their minimum standards for the player's eligibility, but beyond that, each school and/or school system may decide on their own standards.

Very well said. I saw Gleason play at another time (I didn't get to see the championship game), but one of my main remarks about them was that their patience on offense was amazing. Also, you're absolutely right about the types of defence that could have been tried. If it doesn't work, then I would say the better team was being sucessful in their game plan. Kayla Hudson is one of the most talented players I have ever seen, and I've been around a LONG time!!!

what time does Forrest play Wednesday?
