  1. You will throttle Clarksburg and McKenzie. They are not even close to being contenders.
  2. TCA has a very good coach and so does GC. It will be a battle of the minds tomorrow night. IMO, TCA has the better athletes on the whole but GC has better fundamentals, with the exception of #4 for TCA. It will be a battle of the coaches and their adjustments, IMO. Looking forward to it because the winner stays away from Greenfield and makes it to the Boro.
  3. I guess we will see tomorrow night.....
  4. They are long and fast and well-coached. Don’t let Croppy poor mouth too much. They could easily be back in the Boro for the third straight year!
  5. Complete horse manure! Nobody’s job is on the line if they don’t win coach of the year. Pick a person, fairly and move on! The “snowflaking” of America played out in girls HS basketball. Let’s not hurt anyone’s feelings!
  6. See.... Common ground for you two! Maybe ya'll can meet up and console each other after yesterday's game or get together and celebrate together when the Vols return the whooping at home in a week or 2. I love playing the peacemaker!
  7. I have to disagree on the posts being the key to the win here. IMO, TCA has the best post players in the district and probably the region. It is undoubtedly a huge advantage for them especially on the offensive boards, but post season play is all about the guards. Posts can't get the ball if the guards don't take care of it. I think the key to this game is the guards taking care of the ball against GC's pressure. TCA has a tendency to get a little sloppy and turn the ball over when they are up in the fourth. I think the key will be the guards in the fourth quarter not turning the ball over and the team not taking ill advised shots. It is going to be a great game. Good luck to both teams.
  8. Went to the TCA v Peabody game last night. Wow, there was some athleticism and speed out on the court last night on both reams. Congrats to TCA! I have seen Peabody play several time now and it finally dawned on me just before halftime why Peabody is a good team but not great. They CANNOT shoot. There is so much power, speed and strength on that team but no shot goes up with any “touch” whatsoever. Layups are no problem, but midrange shots and threes are a struggle for them. If they had just one pure shooter, they might be a state contender.
  9. GCPioneer and Allvolhere, You guys crack me up going back and forth on so many threads. Maybe ya’ll can find some common ground and agree on something. Don’t both of you guys love the Vols? Maybe you can start there... LOL
  10. I have seen all three players play this season as well. I will not pick apart any of their games because they are high school girls that dont deserve any negativity from me. All i will say is that if I had a vote, i would vote for chloe moore as miss basketball.
  11. IMO, two of the following 3 teams will be in the boro, TCA, Greenfield and GC. I dont think Gleason has the size to advance. Dresden is solid but not deep enough and Peabody is one guard away from being a state contender. In the post season, it is all about the guards and taking care of the ball. TCA now has plenty of them with their 8th graders, but how will they and the other guards respond in the region tourney at Bethel? Combined with their bigs, they may just be deep enough to win the 4th matchup with Gibson County. If GC shoots well from the outside, they will be in the boro once again joining Greenfield unless Tess and Chloe both have bad nights and get in foul trouble. Substate games will be running clocks as there are no solid single A teams in Memphis. Just my opinion. Should be fun...
  12. Way to deflect attention away from the defending state champs and incredible team in their own right. LOL Reminds me of the Patriots! "Don't pay attention to our consistent greatness and great coach!" LOL You are the real deal and the champs till someone knocks you off. Congrats on having a great program! If the brackets line up, I think you guys will be playing Clarkrange for the Gold Ball. Good luck to you!
  13. Totally agree. I was a little worried after the slow start GC had. They never seem to panic though. Well coached for sure. They are very fundamentally sound. Can't wait for the district and region tournament. I am assuming that TCA throttled Middleton, but I did not see a score on the game. Anyone know?
  14. Could not agree more. Can't see anyone that is a clear favorite to run the table. No one team seems to be head and shoulders better than any one else. I hate to say it, but with this much parity the state champion will come down to a combination of being ready to play every game, how games are called, sickness, injury, location of tournaments and unfortunately luck. It is going to be fun! I am leaning Clarkrange, but I wouldn't put a wager on it.
  15. Pioneer, I am a fan of neither team, I just like good basketball, but the back to back inbound turnovers GC had up 5 with under 2 to play on the baseline were very uncharacteristic and dang near cost them the game. I thought there were easier passes available than the ones they tried to make. I kept thinking they would throw a “homerun” ball because all of tca’s defenders were between the inbounder and GC’s players in the front court. Technical foul was ridiculous for sure, but there were poor calls spread out on both sides pretty equally outside of that. Round 3 in 2 weeks
  16. Great game tonight! TCA's length and size are a tough matchup for GC. The next matchup could go either way. Tonight's game reminded me of the Super Bowl, great defense on both sides of the ball. GC is lucky to escape with the win because they were dominated on the offensive glass! Tough FT shooting down the stretch helped seal the win! Worth the price of admission and then some!
  17. Not sure how many times you have seen GC play but normally they are much more aggressive on offense. They drive the ball much more often than they did in the first game and they dang sure take the open three shots that they passed on repeatedly in the first game. Defensively, they were not conservative and TCA handled the pressure well. Trinity's defense was not bad, but shooters were open and did not shoot and the few times GC attacked the basket, they were effective. I could not disagree with you more about USJ being more talented than GC. USJ has the best player by far, but their depth is no where near that of GC (including all of there posts.) Humboldt and Peabody have better posts IMO. I would take GC 10 out of 10 times on USJ's home court if they played! USJ is WAY down compared to their usual teams and their parents will tell you that. Croppy, you may eat your own words an it will be your fault because you will miss the game if you show up friday. They play tomorrow.
  18. Here is how I see the game playing out. Trinity will press hard with their long and athletic players. Unlike most teams they have played, I think GC handles the pressure and keeps the game close. If GC plays as conservative as they did in the first game, they will lose again. I don't see big leads on either side. Trinity's best hope is to go into the final few minutes behind rather than in the lead. They play much better and looser when they are playing from behind (USJ first game, GC first game) rather than from in the lead (Crockett, USJ second game, Peabody first game). The winner gets one less tough game in the district tournament. I got Trinity by 2.
  19. Total domination as expected by Greenfield. won by 25
  20. The regular season in this district looks like it comes down to Tuesday's game. Big stakes here because the district regular season winner will only play one game against a team remotely capable of giving them a game. The district winner gets guaranteed a #1 or #2 seed in the Region tourney because the 4 teams outside of TCA, Peabody and GC are horrendous.
  21. They may very well win the substate game with ease because all single A teams in Memphis are mediocre at best, but winning the district and region with ease, I am not so sure. Everyone will come to play in those tournaments and players have a tendency to tighten up a little when the season is on the line. All it takes is a few missed shots or a bad call and things can go south quickly. Remember, these are 14-18 year old kids, not professionals.
  22. I think TCA jumps out to a quick lead with their press. They will lead by as many as 12-14 in the first half and into the third quarter and will hold off a frantic comeback by Peabody and win by 6. The district regular season title will come down to the GC v TCA game next week.
  23. I sure do. They were outstanding as were the Gleason teams of 10 or so years ago. Someone please explain with all the emphasis on travel ball, how the whole single A has become so watered down.
  24. I thought Wilkins over coached the last game GC and TCA played and played way too conservative. First time I can ever say that. TCA has the best player on the court, but GC was the more complete team. GC never aggressively attacked the basket, but when they did they got good results. Not sure what to make of the new 8th graders that TCA has. The depth def helps. Intense said they played well tonight in a "hostile environment" and they did okay, but they were in a "hostile environment" at home. They looked okay if they were who I thought they were. Couldn't be near as hostile environment as a district tourney at GC or regional tourney at Elam Center will be, but we will see. IMO, they cake walk next year through D2A next year and play for a gold ball, but this year remains to be seen.
