  1. I did. Need to share it. Couldn't be a nicer kid. He did just what he said he was going to do.
  2. Got off a nice pass but going for a fake punt on 4th and 25. Come on. Maybe 4th and 7 or 8 but 4th and like 25. We did pick up about 20 of it but gave them ball near midfield still 9 minutes to go
  3. I dont know how it is going to play out but #8 Ben Smith is the best player in 2A. At least heart, all around ability. He is running, tackling and laying the wood machine.
  4. Injuries. Mr. Football goes down show you how vital one player is to a team
  5. I think the spread is a little high also. I expect it to be a battle late in the fourth and a one score game either way. A victory by either team will not surprise me. Both teams are very solid all around and have the capability to go far in the playoffs. As for the punter. It was unusual to see him leading the team in passing and the QB picking off passes. They did a little role reversal against Tyner. Lets hope things return to normal and 15 has 100 plus yards receiving and couple TD's either receiving or by picking one off or on special teams. Then # 2 can go back to running it and slinging it for 200 and 200. Of course playing an undefeated Marion County who is giving up less than 5 points a game I don't expect that. I will settle with a victory any way we can get it Friday night. We got it against Tyner in an ugly fashion. If it takes that again then so be it. With a wet field and sloppy conditions and possibly rain it could be an adventure. Make for a wild night.
  6. You should be. They have had a great season going. It's good to see a parent that has so much passion and loves to give it to the ref's. I kind of get disgruntled when fans get angered at the other team or players or making excuses. There is a lot of bad calls, non calls, missed calls and just overlooked calls because of game situations, misplacement, judgement or just plain old bias so I say give it to the Refs all you want. But when teams are out there giving There all and fighting you got to cheer on both sides. Meigs and Tyner put on a show. You could see it playing out the way it did the entire second half with the coaching call 2 point plays for Meigs to Meigs not being able to convert any first downs to run the clock at all second half to the eventual final drive whereTyner had to score and they did to make it 18 to 19. Then you knew they were going for two and overthrew it out of the endzone. Some fans on both sides were upset of course with some calls and the refs were even confused on a couple plays. There was one trick play where Meigs gained about 25 yards or so to get a first down. The ref's spotted the ball. The Ref's had the chains moved, then they blowed whistle start clock then Meigs and Tyner ran to line up and Tyners coach ran on the field saying Meigs couldn't do that trick play or whatever it was. Then the ref's got together and said do any of you guys know what just happened. The one ref. said I got no clue the ten guys was standing over there on that one side then that one guy number 2 for Meigs walked all way over to where the ball was spotted. He bent down said down set hut and took the heck off. None of the Tyner guys knew what was going on. The other ref. said that's what I saw. I didn't know what was going on so I took off running with him to spot it. The back guy said we set it down and blowed the whistle for ball in play to start but Meigs just stayed over near sideline. Tyner was just standing around. Head ref. says what are we going to do. We already done moved chains. Blowed these here whistles. Said it was good. Other guy says we'll what did that other coach say. This is where I'm guessing but I'm assuming that Tyner's coach told them the person who took the ball and run didn't get completely get set or the ten guys over there by themselves was illegal. Heck I don't think no one still knows cause they didn't really say. Just moved ball and got a penalty and another penalty for something else and it was 3rd and like 30 after that which gave ball back to Tyner for that final drive. So you can give it to ref's but kids from both sides deserve all love we can give them. Tyner should be proud. I thougt they outplayed us that night. Meigs County's fans and the ref's don't have good history. They don't seem to like our coach much either. He loves to get all over them. He haresses them a lot but it's well deserved. We seem to get a lot of calls against us because we are either beating teams too bad or they think we just can't be gaining that many yards every play so it's got to be holding. Coach Fitz don't back down though. He let's them Ref's have it.
  7. Meigs loving playing in the rain. I dont know about Marion. I've watched film on him. He is very talented and has great motor. He also shows good sportsmanship. Looks like a great kid I was messing about that 150 %
  8. You can only give 100%. I'm not sure they gave150% against Polk or Tellico. Maybe they did. I know from experience it's hard to get up for every game and every opponent. I should not have said that. Give me some analysis of how they are going to bring that pride and tradition back to Jasper. I like Marion County's chances at home. If you look at the overall body of work or just simply watched the film I would have to say Marion might be the overall better team. This group of seniors at Meigs however has felt defeat in the last two state championship games and they know how important this game is. Meigs is bringing one of the best offenses and defenses to Marion County Friday night. Across all divisions Meigs is the only team in the State to have a team ranked in the top 5 in both offense (45.4) and defense (6.1). That is 5th in offense and 4th in defense. Marion is 4th in Defense. You got us there. But your not top 25 in offense. We are not going into strength of schedule or polls. It should be a great game. Both teams are going to give it their all 100% they got Friday night. I'm not going to be surprised with whichever team it is that comes away with the victory
  9. I hope your right but what you said about who makes fewest mistakes scares me. I have watched several Marion county games this year and they have three or four guys that have the capability of taking to the house at a moments notice from any distance or down. Look at the Bledsoe game. Bledsoe drove first possession down nearly took entire quarter then MC first play their QB took it over 50 yards for TD. Then it slowed down. Then to start second half MC first play #8 took it the distance. Same thing happened Sequtchie game. Long score first play for MC. It just takes a couple a game and we could be in trouble. I dont feel we have the big play long distance potential we have had in the past. We have broke several this year against some really bad teams but it's been more pounding it with steady 5 yard runs this year. I dont think our line is on the same level with Marion. I may be wrong but they look different on film and there posting stuff about taking visits to Alabama and other SEC schools and getting offers as Sophmores. That along tells me Meigs might have to step up their game this week. Against good teams it's our Defense and turnovers that win us games. Happened against Tyner, Trousdale, Rockwood and South Pitt. You can even throw South Greene and Hampton in there but lesser competition. This offense isn't as explosive. They were struggling just to get positive yards against Tyner. First downs were very difficult to come by. Nothing against Tyner. I would like to see them upset the #2 in region 4 but Marion County did beat them by over 20 points and shut them out. I do have faith however in our boys and believe our defense led by those seniors who have felt defeat in the last couple state championship games are hungry. Look for those seniors #'s 8,1,19,15, 3, 26, & 2 to have big games on defense as well as offense because you can bet being a big game like this they will be going both ways. Let's hope that little T.Y. makes an appearance. If he is back that could make a big difference Be tough to come back first game all year after an accident like that against MC but wouldn't it make for great story if he rushes for about 100 yards and couple scores. I'm going with the Tigers and I'm hoping it pours down Friday night.
  10. I wouldn't say we played one good half of football at all. I would say our Defense played pretty solid minus couple big pass plays second half. Our offense had the one long trick play. Besides that I don't believe we got a first down other than the one to run the clock out. The other TD we got was because our punter dropped one down near the goal line then the D stood up. After that the same All-State punter returned their punt in red zone and got hit out of bounds. We started the drive on the 5 yard line to push that score in. The offense didn't do anything against Tyner the entire game.
  11. I would agree with you. The rain didn't help us out either. We had the trick play and some great punting to set up field position but it wasn't really a factor.
  12. Some might say the rain had something to do with Tyners QB throws being all over place second half. I'm going to say it was our defensive pressure. Based off history though we do play better in sloppy conditions
  13. Definitely give you guys the speed advantage. I was able to watch a couple of your games. We like playing in the rain. If it wouldn't have started raining second half against Tyner I dont know if we would have been able to come back on them. We don't got the lines we are use to having on the Offensive line. It's a solid line. One all state senior. Pretty big kid. About 6"4 or so and good weight and build. Overall not nearly as good as strong as years past. Defensive side however pretty scary. Some hard hitting kids and pretty decent speed up front but not much speed in secondary.
  14. I wouldn't call it a gamble. I would call it a sure thing. I will give you all at least 150 maybe even 200 on a good night against us if that QB breaks a long run or two. But they are calling for rain this week.
  15. I think Mikey has been hitting the bottle a little too hard. I remember when South Pitt. came to town they brought a Mr. Football candidate and Meigs pretty much shut him down besides one big run. I believe he had the least amount of yards in his career that night and showed his frustration over and over with some I'll timed penalties that really hurt his team. I'm not saying Meigs is going to shut down Marion but 300 yards rushing I don't see. If so then it's going to be a long night for Meigs because I don't see Meigs offense putting up many points this Friday either. I dont think we have given up 100 yards rushing in any game all year, maybe not even 50.
  16. Something to be proud of. Remember watching this group slug it out with Riceville back in middle school and new they had the chance to be special back then. They stuck it out and have put together some great runs and a stretch of football that will go down in Meigs history for sure. They got a chance to finish off their season undefeated and I don't think you will see anything less than all they got this upcoming Friday night. I think these guys are hungry and tired of hearing about how they are not as good as previous teams or can't compete with the west. I think Coach will have they ready and they will be fired up for this week and a tough playoff run.
  17. It was nice to at least get Shaver and Cam involved even if it was on a trick play. Would have liked to seen some screen passes to Ben or a little more variety but give Tyner credit. Their overall team speed and tackling kept us in check. Don't remember a game where we have been outgained in yardage and first downs at home and came away with the victory.
  18. I believe when we played them it said 6'4. I know he made our guys look small. But he was not very mobile. I dont believe he attempted to run at all. And he ate us up the first half and was on target. We couldn't get pressure. Second half we started hitting him and getting pressure and it was a different story. It looked like the so called Mr. Football contender from South Green last year when we played them. He was underthrowing and overthrowing and had only one big pass for long yardage that was nice and the TD in the corner on 4th down. He will be a great next year. If he was more mobile would be very hard to stop.
  19. I agree. I dont know if it was senior night or just lack of quality opponents prior to facing the Rams but our Offense is a lot better than it showed that night. Run D was solid as always minus couple of tough runs. Tyner has a great running back to go with a solid passing attack. I expect Tyner to give H2O or TC all they can handle
  20. Its going to be hard for us going on the road to Marion but I believe its a better matchup for us than Tyner was. I hope we don't run into them again either. Home field advantage on the line though the quarterfinals, senior nights, and a lot of pride on the line. Going to be an intense night of football. This is one of them nights there will not be much scoreboard checking or messaging. I plan on enjoying some hard hitting football and hoping for the best after its all over. I am tired of going to TC however. It is a nice little town and has a great football environment. We were lucky enough to go 1-1 there the last couple of years we played. Glad we didn't have to run into you guys. From what I observed last couple of years you all spread the ball around a lot more than TC and we have a lot of difficulty stopping the pass. We got a great run Defense however.
  21. H2Oman what you think. Big games next week. H2O and TC. Meigs and Marion. Losers looking at a tough first round game against Tyner and Westmoreland. Could be an upset there after a fierce rivalry week this upcoming week.
  22. ER region is pretty stout. ER only lost to Westmoreland by 3 and they only lost to an 8-1 White House tonight 35 to 28. They also got TC and H20 in that region. Pretty solid region overall. After looking at what Marion did to Forrest I thougt ER would win by a couple of scores.
