  1. Not as excited about my Scotts Hill Lions after two scrimmages, If they don't get some things ironed out may be a really long season for the Lions. Just need to re-group and try to get to clicking..See some holes....Time shall tell....Go Lions..
  2. Don't count the Scott's Hill Lions out just yet......Lots of football to played....Hope Everyone stays healthy...I assure you...The Whole Region will know the Lions are on the field...Should be fun to watch unfold...Interesting Region!!
  3. Prayers from over here at Scott's Hill.......Hope for a complete and speedy recovery!! God Bless!!
  4. Picking the Hill to win it's First Region Title this Fall..looking for a First Down though...As The Voice of the Lions would say "We trying to Move those Chains".. Prayers for Kevin Wood...The Voice of the LIONS....thanks and God Bless!!
  5. Scott's Hill Lions may make some noise before the years up.Don't count the boys from the HILL out yet. Hearing they could be VERY MUCH improved in some areas.
  6. Evan was 9 for 10 in his first 10 at bats in the Sunbelt. On Base 13 out of first 14 at bats. Cooled off some towards the end of the week finished week at ..545 Average.....682 OBP...689 slg...Most Important STAT is TEAM TENNESSEE won the Championship....Great Group of Young Men and Coaches......Great Display of Talent and Teamwork...
  7. I assure everyone reading this that Evan is not looking for the big bucks, all though he will this fall in the deer stand , lol. He is a kid that loves to play baseball , he is a hitter and how far he goes will depend on how he develops. Already done more than most. He cherishes the two rings he has and realizes how blessed he is. There are alot of players out there but not one with more heart!!
  8. District 15A is very Solid...has lots of Parity...Jackson Christian being the Early Leader but come Tournament time don't Count TCA , Adamsville,Scotts Hill or Riverside out..Look for the teams out of 15A to make some noise. Good Solid District..One of the strongest baseball districts in Single A baseball..IMO
  9. Wow what a Ballgame, I am super proud of the SH Lions . Best team won tonight and how good are they? Left to be determined. I would not bet agsinst TCA. They beat a very good team 42 -0 last week and showed an amazing display of play the two times we played them. They have several great players and #7 is an amazing player. Maybe the best to ever come out of west tn. I am not saying that they will beat adamsville but it will not be easy. But back to my Lions. Could not be more proud of a program. Grit and heart. Super proud of them and we will miss the seniors. SH lions have nothing to hang their head down. Best team won tonight . Tip your hat and strap them on again next year . Can't wait. Love my lions!!! This gsme will be one to remembered. Very hard fought. Congrats TCA. I will be watching to see how you guys do. Could go alonnnngggg way !!!
  10. TCAIntense-I would have to say the Advantage is to the Running team, but they don't need an advantage. I have always heard though that a sloppy field kinda of Evened the playing field . This game has been on my mind for couple weeks now. Should be a good game. Just hope SH can keep it close. I too hope everyone stays healthy tonight. Win or Lose...I am PROUD to be associated with such AN AWESOME PROGRAM...As coach would say...We are looking for a first down...SAFE TRAVELS!!!
  11. Trader, i agree 3-4 scores would be okay with me as well...Defense just needs to keep it reasonable and offense manage the game 1 first down at a time...Hope to keep #1 on defense for most of the night..if we can keep it close maybe kicking game or special teams will factor in...If not we can tip our hats...win or lose I just hope everyone stays healthy...Should be an exciting night of High School Football....Don't believe these boys will lay down at home....TCA should get SH's best effort....Just hope it's enough....Not many teams have a tougher task in the first round...I think both teams score more than 40....Go SH Lions!!!
  12. Scott's Hill has a tall task at hand. As a fan of the Lions I am only hoping for a chance for a VICTORY at the end of the game. I have seen TCA play in person and have watched a couple game films of them. They are a very Well Coached team. They stay on their blocks very well. They have some big linemen and a couple really good skill position players. Scotts Hill does have a very dangerous Offense but TCA is a very tough match up for the SH Lions. I have looked at lots of film on Goldsmith and my thoughts are this. This kid is A special Player, My honest opinion He's a D1 running back. I have thought long and hard about ever seeing a better running back come through WEST TN. Not sure I have ever seen anyone better. AL Wilson was the best I had seen play up until a few weeks ago. Goldsmith is best I have seen since. Probaly a better Runner than AL. My opinion...ANYONE that plays TCA has an extremely hard task at hand..JMO.....
  13. #1 is an Awesome football player. One of the Best in West TN. If not The Best..Very surprised some of the Bigger Schools haven't offered him....
  14. ReitzFan I was at the Game and didn't see any unsportsman like hits in the game, I went back and watched the game on Hudl as well and Actually confirmed what I witnessed. Two very good teams play a very aggresive game. I do believe you where relating to #4 on a block against #5. As I stated I didn't see the a unsportsman like hit andwent back and watched game film. That play actually had #4 on a block on #5 and TCA #5 actually hit SH #4 in the head and #4 continued to block and they got tangled up.It was a football play. I do hate that TCA's #5 got hurt. And hope he's okay, but stating it was an unsportsman like play kinda of shined a different perspective. I assure you the Lions Coaches do not tolerate or teach unsportsman like play....I tip my hat to TCA...They played a very good game...I thought they done a really good staying on their blocks and #1 is a BEAST that reads the field very well...Someone ask me if #1 ran of tackle and I said He Runs a read option type offense by reading the blocks. He is special and I wish the kid the very best... ..I am sure the Coaches are trying to figure out a game plan to slow #1 down enough to give SH a chance to win....I think SH can score on TCA's defense , just got to figure out how to manage..I assure you that's not going to be an easy task..I am very concerned that SH can find an answer.. If SH can figure out a way to slow him down some and protect the ball on Offense they may have a chance but it's a slim chance...Good luck to both teams and First and Foremost I hope they all stay healthy!!!
  15. BELOW IS THE ARTICLE Redrage1990 if referring to: DRAWING CLOSER TO HIM: One of the major knocks on travel sports is how much time for the young athletes – and their parents – is spent away from home, and that includes away from church on Sunday mornings. But for Scotts Hill baseball and football player Evan Russell, his time with East Coast Baseball over this past summer helped to bring him to the point of making sure God was first in his life. “I spent the summer playing with a showcase baseball team – East Coast Baseball,†Russell said. “They always made God before baseball, and that put a great impact on me. I now put the Lord before all my sports, and that puts more fun in it.†The lessons Russell learned from his time this summer, he brought back to Scotts Hill. “We would always have a lesson before the game, and we always prayed before the games,†he said. “It was all based on God. “Now me and my Scotts Hill teammates pray before and after practice and games.†Kainan Maners, Drake Thompson, Garrett Chalk and Hunter Grissom are some of the Scotts Hill teammates that join in with Russell. His time spent putting God back as the priority this summer came less than a year after Russell lost his biggest supporter. “Last year in August, my grandfather died from lung and throat cancer,†he said. “It hit me harder than anybody knows. He was my No. 1 fan in all of my sports, and he has been with me throughout me growing up. “It was hard for me, especially the first time I touched the field. It took a lot of praying and support from fellow Christians. Throughout the process and the bad times, God was always with me, and I always had someone to talk to.†Russell describes his grandfather as humble, and now he finds strength in his memory. “Every touchdown I score or home run I hit, he is always in my mind,†Russell said. “I know he is watching me, and that brings joy to my heart.†Russell grew up in the church as his father is a preacher at Central Grove Baptist Church. “I was at a revival when I was 11, and that is when I found the Lord,†Russell said. “I have always been a child of God, and I always put Him first. But over the years, I was focusing on baseball – because baseball is my No. 1 sport. I started putting baseball in front of God.†Russell is active within the church with the youth group, and he also serves as the song leader. “Being the song leader has its ups and downs,†Russell said. “I enjoy it, but I can’t sing very well. “All of the youth are active within the church.†Russell also feels like he is a leader on the football team, and he said that gives him the ability to share God’s love. “I feel like they can come and talk to me about God whenever,†he said. “I try to put the team first, and through my actions, I try to show how I am close to God. “Everyone messes up, but I try to be a man and own up to my mistakes. When people talk to me, I feel like I can be straight up with them. I feel like if I didn’t know the Lord I couldn’t be a leader on the football and baseball team.†When things get tough in practice or in games, God is someone Russell relies on to push through. “I feel like nothing is too big,†he said. “It gives me confidence knowing that I got someone taking care of me. “When you are working real hard and not seeing many results, you have to have faith that God is going to bless hard work. That helps me get through those tough sprints or reps.†Written By Michael Odom of the Jackson Sun. michaelodom@jacksonsun.com
  16. #4 being out may slow down the Hill some but One thing to think about, The Coaches have had two weeks to prepare. I still believe you give the Edge to the hill with all the skill players they have. Special teams may factor in too, #4 Punts as well . Averaging almost 39 yards for the season. Hopefully #9 will factor in on the kick offs. #9 is a Threat every time he touches the ball ...... After watching some film I believe the Lions have to many offensive weapons. #8 does a really good job of buying time and checking down to his 2nd and 3rd options. And can tuck it and run it too.. Any High School team could have trouble against this type team.. Bottom Line is this is a Great Match up and Not going to be an easy Victory for either team...But it is for the Region Championship...I know the Lions are Hungry!! with 2 weeks to Prepare and get healthy I say 27-14 Lions
  17. When it comes down to this Rivalry Game..throw the records out the window...Yes Scotts Hill has alot of talent...and very well coached...But Look for Riverside to come into the Hill with their best effort...This will be a hard fought Battle...IMO Scotts Hill Won the battle last year but lost the game...Scotts hill has to protect the ball and Do what they do...But with the hype of this Game, Turnovers could be a factor..IMO..Scotts Hill wins the Game but I guarantee it will not be easy!! Players will be sore Saturaday...Just hope Everyone stays healthy....Good Fun RivalryGame, what makes Friday Night Football so much Fun....Go LIONS!!!!
