  1. Okay. so how do you fix it? or, do you even fell as if it needs to be fixed?
  2. I get all that. And I agree too. However, if the coach is only there to coach that would give them more time to do those things. The school system and booster clubs combine and pay them.
  3. Congratulations to Coach Runyon. He seemed to do a good job when I watched his teams play. He didn't coach like he was ready to retire. With that being said... both coaching positions in the same district open... which one of these jobs is the best job and why? also, it is a coincidence that they both leave at the same time...
  4. good points. I guess the question is do the coaches need to be out of the classroom and get paid for just coaching. maybe move the coaching jobs to just coaching and no teaching. that would open up the coaching ranks to some good coaches that are not qualified to teach. Then you could do contracts and pay them whatever you want to pay them. move the positions to contracts. Just like college. Thoughts?
  5. Coach Lowery seems to have done a pretty good job at Gibson County. Imma say this is good hire. Not a lot of coaches would want to follow Coach Wilkins...
  6. I would think These are the exceptions not the norm. AND, should be the norm not the exception.
  7. it is nuts. West Tennessee hasn't seen a lot of changes this season but the two that we have right now are a younger guy at Chester County who resigned after some success and a guy that has been around a long time at South Gibson who also had some success. Makes you wonder why they resigned. The South Gibson Coach is retiring from what I am hearing. But the Chester County Coach I'm not sure.
  8. Who in their right mind would coach high school basketball??? I sure am glad people do though because I love it. I feel bad for them.
  9. me too. got beat in region quarter finals last year at Haywood, went to sectionals year before and region semifinals the year before that. Won a district championship also. Wonder why he retired?
  10. I can't believe this is true!!! I am however not shocked that people would think this way... #WhoInTheirRightMindWouldCoachHighSchoolBasketball
  11. Perry County will compete next year and after that... Look out.
  12. Or at least let the coach have some time during the day to game plan, scout and practice plan before they have to practice.
  13. It is tough to coach both. The people that do it must have great assistants so from the outside looking in I would say a current assistant would be a good choice. Tough to follow all of that success though...
  14. who in their right mind would be a high school basketball coach? hahaha. I have said on here before by the time the average coach gets to practice they have taught all day, made sure they have enough money in the account for the bus (lots of other financial responsibilities), had a few phone calls from parents, graded the assignments and entered in the system for parents of students to complain about, maybe had some additional assignments at school like watching an entrance, and this is just the beginning. No way! Oh, i forgot practice planning, scouting, game planning, player development... LOL
  15. Not sure but also not so sure it is an attractive job... Following Wilkins with all the success he had with a lot less talent... Not so attractive.
  16. I'm hearing it was his decision and the administration wanted him to continue to coach. I think the press release said he is going to continue teaching at the school. He is the assistant baseball coach right now. the press release also noted he played college baseball so is he flipping to baseball instead of basketball? who knows. But I haven't heard anything at all about internal issues or anything.
  17. Looks like McKenzie may be opening... Any other West TN jobs?
  18. McKenzie Boys open. Has this been made official?
  19. I haven't seen any jobs come open in West TN. Is everyone staying where they are right Now?
  20. Great point. If a system doesn't allow kids from outside their district to attend school they are handicapping the coaches in that system.
  21. You have a great point and are right to some degree. I would say the issue is an even playing field. I would be fine with all schools in one class and the best team win. I am fine with the classifications the way they are right now. Whatever. as long as all the schools are operating under the same restrictions or the lack there of. And that is just simply not the case right now.
