I have been very impressed with Greenfield's basketball coaches (boys and girls). They will just keep getting better and better.

Unfortunately, some coaches seem to be as biased as parents. I have seen coaches appear to promote their own child or a buddy's child. I have seen coaches appear to set up numerous "plays" for their child to shoot and to guard an easy player on the opposing team (this way their child doesn't get as tired -- it is very tiring playing good defense.) A coach is able to see that his/her child doesn't get as banged up in practice by saying something when their child gets banged hard, but saying nothing when someone else's child gets repeatedly banged up (hard fouls) in practice. But this is life and I guess the rest of us noncoaches should take up coaching if we don't like it. I don't see things changing. Just my opinion......

Are just the boys teams playing or are the girls in the Lions Club Tournament also?

I agree with you. Dresden is playing hard and they don't give up. I hope they have a good season.

Why does this person have to keep these comments off of this site? The comments didn't seem libelous or filled with profanity. Have you watched Dresden, other than the Westview game?

Adults would not allow someone to get up in their face and scream and curse at them for any reason. Why is it okay to do this to a child?

Westview could have a great inside game. I hope they are allowed to do so. I hope the posts are not going to have to chunk 3's all the time. I am ready to watch #13 shoot 3's. Good luck Lady Chargers!

The respect should go both ways. It's not professional sports where kids are being paid millions of dollars to perform. Why get up in a child's face and scream and curse? As adults we would not allow someone to do that to us for any reason. Why is okay to do it to a child?

How's Westview team shaping up? With new coach? Did all the players return? (except the senior of course) Any good prospects in the freshmen? I look forward to watching them this season. Good Luck!

I know of a coach that is starting every game a kid that cries every game. (and the kid's not hurt or talented) As far as I know.....

If you are a coach and never let any politics, administration, or nepotism affect your decisions --- That's the way it should be. Talent, hard work and sportsmanship should determine playing time. In my opinion....

Dresden will have to make less mistakes. Team leadership will be a factor. Also, I believe a couple of Dresden's players are sick. I think Dresden can win with less mistakes and improved leadership. Just my opinion......

I believe that people have a right to privacy. Having said this, I have heard a rumor that it had something to do with his ACL. I did not hear that it was torn, but something. I wish him a speedy recovery if he is sick or injured. I have also heard that a couple of Dresden players are sick. So who knows....

If a coach plays someone for political or personal reasons, it can be bad for this "chosen player." I have been made aware of such a situation that's going on right now. A 7th grader is "starting" ahead of several 8th grade players. The 8th graders are actually better than this 7th grader, NO QUESTION. Also,the 8th graders grades, conduct, and effort are as good or better. In addition, the 7th grader CRIES DURING the game at almost every game. (They are not even injured.) I would not start a player that cries every game. Anyway, this cannot be good for this 7th grader. The 8th graders will get over their hurt feelings, but the 7th grader has to suffer humiliation. Just my opinion......

Actually, I was referring to kids that don't play or work hard and are totally unathletic. As long as they are not keeping someone else off the team.... Whatever....

I think it will come down to coaching! Oops! Can't mention coaches.

Is the whole band coming and doing their competition program? If so, I imagine some people ARE going to be shocked!

Would you allow a teacher to curse at your child for not understanding a math problem? I think parents let coaches curse their children for not understanding a play or executing it properly. Would you allow a teacher to kick a book or other object across the room because your child missed a question on a test? I saw a coach kick a football on the sidelines at a game Friday night. One of his players had just made a mistake. He looked just like a child throwing a fit when he viciously kicked the ball. Just my opinion.... We are all accountable.
