  1. I think that might have been a bad choice of words. Both games between Upperman and LA came down to the last few minutes. Two great teams and I hate that one of their seasons will come to an end tonight.
  2. That's how people in this area feel about Lashay. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Chantel Poston and Crystal Riley. I have family that lives around Memphis and I had heard about these girls long before they were nominated. They are the Lashay Davis??™s of West TN or Lashay is the Poston/Riley??™s of Middle TN however you want to say it. They are all great athletes either way you spill it. It is really saying something for Lashay to be nominated as a Junior for this honor. This came out in the Herald Citizen about her nomination http://www.herald-citizen.com/index.cfm?ev...72E28071000CE36 These are just a few highlights about her you may not know. Freshman & Sophomore year. A starter since her freshman season, Davis was named the H-C's Upper Cumberland Co-Player of the Year and to the All-State team as a sophomore after garnering District 7-AA and Region 4-AA Tournament MVP accolades. Junior Year This season, Davis leads the Upper Cumberland in scoring at 19 points a game while averaging 3.4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. She has also scored over 1,600 points for her career. You will notice at the end of the article how much Lashay and McWilliams talks about their team and how it took all of them to get where they are today. That should tell you something about this girls character that you can??™t tell by just looking at her numbers.
  3. Lashay Davis is a great athlete and she really deserves this nomination. She would have my vote all the way. I hope Lashay and Upperman shine in post-season play. I know some colleges have contacted her already and I hope being on this list leads to big opportunities for Lashay. This is a very prestigious list to be on! Good Luck Lashay! Congrats to Laken Leonard she is a great player. 4. Well Bill you spell it Mackenzie. She doesn't take offense to how you spell her name:) I could see her doing that....Mac is a very good kid. I could see quite a few of the Livingston girls doing that. Gatorbill, my daughter went to the concession stand for me(it's good to have kids) /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I feel so bad that I didn't they were taking up money. It's very thoughtful of the area schools to reach out to our neighbors.
  5. Anyone who has ever called a game of any kind should know that you can't catch everything, we all don't see it the same way and being in the stands the fans have a better view of the players. As an official you will never make everyone happy. I understand your take on the officiating part & I have seen fans that will complain no matter what the call is. However, I will have to agree that some of the officiating I have watched this year has not been up to par. I know you said most fans have never picked up a rule book but you don't have to pick up a rule book to know that when a player comes off the floor with a bloody nose or split lip....they were hit. I like to see a ref let the girls play but they should set the lines early so it doesn't come out to be a football game. I wasn't at the UHS/York game the other night but I did listen on the radio. Even the announcer kept committing on how physical the game was & how players were going to get hurt. I don't expect the ref to do crowd control....that is crazy but I do expect them to look out for the player??™s best interest. That's all I'm going to say about officiating. Melton 07, The only problem I have with you is that you come across to be arrogant and no one else could possible know as much about the game. You may be the best guy ever but you don??™t come across that way. If you would handle stuff in a more polite way instead of being so defensive you may gain respect from people & they might listen to what you have to say. I don??™t know who ernieg or some of the other refs are but after reading their post I respect their point of view. That being said??¦after the game at UHS the other night all of the adults were very respectful and didn't get on here and air the dirty laundry on the internet. Someone blames the refs for letting the game get rough and then YOU get on here numerous times & bash one school & say the kids are out of control. Come on don't lash out at the school because people question the refs. Your being a hypocrite??¦.you don??™t want people placing blame and talking about the refs??¦.you don??™t need to place blame and talk about the school. That is my opinion and yes I know it doesn??™t matter what I think but I felt very compelled to say it.

  7. Gome on Bill you don't sound like a guy who would date a grubbing little tramp:) All jokes aside that is the best post I have read on Coach T in awhile.
  8. Kayla has a bright future. The exciting thing is she is just going to keep getting better. She reminds me a lot of Mackenzie Sells from Livingston. They both anticipate plays, fast as lightning, good defense, great rebounder??™s and they are freshman.
  9. I hate that I missed this game, I have this stupid cold that's going around! I had to try and find it on the radio and I finally found a Jamestown station that was covering the game. The announcer was even talking about how rough the game was. I knew Upperman would win but I never guess it would be by 41 points. When this team hits the floor and things start to click it is contagious everyone gets up. That's what I like about Upperman they are up beat and cheer each other on continuously even when they are down. It sounded like all these girls had a good game. According to the Tennessean Karissa 22, Kayla 19, Lashay 16, Chezney 12, Jennifer 6, Megan 3 and Allison 2. Of course you know I'm proud of Chezney...that's my girl /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> she come of the bench and scored a couple of three's within a minute. Good job Lady Bees!
  10. I can??™t tell you how much I agree with you Wildstang! That??™s why I try not to get on here much anymore because you always have a few Village Idiots that get on here & single out kids. That is just so tacky, it takes away from what this site is about. I think some people have a new found confidence when they get on here. They feel like they can just say anything & hide behind a name. This site gives everyone a place to talk with other fans about the games, good plays & bad plays. You can talk about bad plays & the kids involved without maliciously attacking their character. You??™re not always going to agree with people but that??™s life ??¦don??™t make it personal. Devilish, you & some of these others need to remember that these players are someone??™s kids. Would you want your kids singled out? The answer would be NO??¦you need to remember that! All I know is when my kids get older & play High School sports??¦my husband will have to take my computer away from me because if someone got on here & talked about my girls like they have some of these kids??¦.I would lose it. I would try to turn a blind eye but when it comes to your kids it is a different story. I think it is good for a Jackson Co. fan to point this out & let these girls know not everyone thinks this way.
  11. King...I thought they looked good too.
  12. I agree with you Sumner for the most part. He is amongst the top ten players in AA & his 3 point shot is not bad but it could get better. For his height he needs to keep working on his 3. However, I will have to tell you....I heard all of this same stuff when this kid was in Grade school. "Oh When Dunn get to the High School level he won't be able to score like he does now". Look at him now....he gets it done....night after night. He stepped his game up & adjusted where he needed to. I will expect the same out of him when he gets to the College level. There are so many Good athletes in High schools today but Dunn is a True Athlete! The difference is...Good athlete....they have a God given talent, everything comes natural & it's easy for them. True Athlete has all of that but they never quit pushing themselves & they keep learning. When I watch Dunn play...I always see him try something new...he is fun to watch. That is one thing Melton does...he pushes all of these boys to keep learning.
  13. I totally understand what you are saying. Let me say first of all, I have never been a die-hard soccer fan. I have always been all Softball & Basketball but my daughter loves soccer.... so I decided to take her to watch LA. I will have to tell you..... I am hooked & I am becoming a big soccer fan! I know we aren't even half the size of Chattanooga or Knoxville.... we have about 20,000 people in Overton County. We have one high school in our county, that's it. Overton County, even though small, has always been known for having excellent female athletes, look at our State Basketball Championships. I know our opponents having losing records, but you have to think, this area/district has never been that big on soccer. We haven't even had it that long in our county. To answer your question, I would have to say no. Kat is an amazing athlete & a really nice kid but one player isn't enough to carry a whole team. However, that one outstanding player can be just enough to motivate others to dig deep. I know we have kids that played last year & were average players but it's like this year....they are a different team. I'm not sure if it is because of Kat? Whatever the reason, it's working for us. We have other good players, Heather, McKenzie, and Kelsie all stick out to me. I hope LA sticks around long enough so you see them play. If not...I'm sure you will within the next 3 years.
  14. King 21......Crystal is my first name & don't talk to me like I'm some school age girl. I don't have to imply anything…. I read what was written. Stonger3....you must know me cause you spelt my name right....ha...not many get it right. If you had said "but sells makes up for what you lose with hammock" I wouldn't find any harm in that. But you started out talking about her grade school years....I didn't understand that & saying LA didn't lose much. Can you see why that bothered me? I'm glad you cleared it up instead of coming back with something childish....I respect that. Bottom-line.... She is gone, when season starts then we can talk about how good or bad they do.This year will fun to watch.
  15. I agree, I absolutely believe she will be one of the best to come through LA. You won't ever see an ego with Mac she is just all ball. She could care less about the hype that goes with it.
  16. I know she is a freshman but Mackenzie Sells will be a big asset for LA this year. She is young but this girl has a natural talent.
  17. If a pitcher can throw consistently and not get hurt (your legs wear out before your arm does)...what does it matter? If you moved the bases back & the pitching mound back.... wouldn’t that be baseball? Being at 43 feet & pitching a 67 mi. hour ball is equivalent to a 95 mi. hr fastball in baseball. So, as far as talent…these girls have to be on top of their game to hit. As far as them slap bunting all the time…. you do what you have to do to get on base. Softball is what it is & we like it that way. Softball is fine the way it is. I'm glad that the women get a lil attention this year....UT going to the World series has been good for women’s softball around here!
  18. Why are you hiding who you are??? You said that "I didn't think he was right in saying that either" you just said the same thing. You said you are a big fan of Ashley's & Rickman,I bet they wished you hadn't opened your mouth because you are embarrassing a lot of people!! I know everyone says things when they are upset that they wish they could take back (we all have) but you don’t have an excuse because you have time to think about what you type before you hit post reply.
  19. Well I find that hard to believe that you have a daughter on Allons team. If you did you would have know that we only had two 15 yr. old girls on the court Sat. One of the turned 15 in late Nov.You were talking about how one of our girls should be a 10th grader, just so you know she started school way to early & was held back. Everyone gets on these board and speaks their peace which is fine because that’s what it is for but when you start putting down teenage girls and boys, you cross the line. You know I am tired of people hiding behind “names” I have no problem telling you who I am & if you want to carry on this conversation later I will be MORE than happy to! I’m from Allons so I’m not hard to find. Crystal K
  20. I think that is hilarious!! Are you that miserable in your little life that you have to get on here and put down teenage girls?? Two of these girls were held back because of grades when they were younger(not even playing ball) none of them should be in 10th. You know what...Keep sitting on the sideline & watching, it sounds like you have been doing for a while!
  21. I agree, they are on a roll & I hate to see it come to an end. Evidently I am in the dark about the parents running her off, I have no ideal what has happened. Some say it was parents’ yelling at her in a game others say it was parents fronting her about their kids...who knows. If all of this came about because of Parents, I think that is a shame. I wish Kathy would reconsider her decision, she has done a lot for that school. I personal would like to see her stay. Everyone needs to get behind Kathy & the girls & finish the year right!
  22. If I'm not mistaken wasn’t the blow up at the game the other night with a bantam parent?? I heard today it was in the bantam game & it was bad…parents should never single a coach out! When I read this post I just assumed it was Varsity you were talking about. From what I’ve heard the Varsity parents haven’t said anything to Kathy…. they may talk to each other (like all parents do) but no one has said anything to Kathy.
  23. This was a great victory for Allons!! They needed this…not only for the girls but also for Kathy. From what I hear… everyone was on last night! Allons played as a team with their coach behind them 100%(it is nice to see everything’s good). Way to go Chezney …I heard you had a great night!! They told me she had 25 pts with 5 or 6 3's...NICE! I am kicking myself because I didn’t go to this game!! GOOD Job Lady Hawks!!
  24. I agree the training league has been great!
  25. First, let me say Kathy Carr has done some great things with Allons basketball. She has a lot of great victories under her belt. I know her style of coaching doesn’t always settle well with other people. Some say she shouldn’t yell at these kids like she does but Kathy is a good coach… she knew that getting on to some kids makes them play harder & she knew that some kids couldn’t take it, it tears them down. All in all, as a coach, you can’t please everyone. As a fan & knowing Kathy, I always knew that she was looking out for the girls & winning at the same time. Now on the other hand I heard things this week that really bothered me…I know better than to listen to gossip but I am hearing it from different people. I heard she took out her frustration (with the parents) on the girls. I hope it’s not true but if it is …I hope Kathy makes it right & leaves the right way. She has accomplished a lot as a ball coach over the years & has a lot to be proud of. I hope everything ends well so she can be remembered for the good not the bad. I know Allons has good parents…some more vocal than others. I know personally how it is to have words with parents (over ball) that are my friends... but after the dust settles at the end of the day…they were still good people. As Fans & Parents everyone gets into the game & says stuff (some they mean & some they don’t). But Kathy knows how that is, to have a child that plays for someone else, you always want to do what benefits your child more.
