  1. Chester Co. is always a tough game. It looks like we will be playing on a wet field. I don't see much of an advantage either way because both teams run the ball most of the time. We have some questions that must be answered in this first game. I'm very optimistic that we will play well and get better as the game goes along. Good luck to all of the teams and players this opening Friday. I pray safety to all of those traveling and playing tonight.
  2. Good luck to you guys this year!!! I pray everyone will stay healthy and play to the best of their ability. It should be another fun year!!
  3. The Adamsville football family will miss Pork Chop. He loved Adamsville and all of the kids and spent countless hours on the ball fields of Adamsville. He will be missed.
  4. I have never counted out TCA. You guys are always talented and have a great coach. Like I said, you guys always find athletic kids to fill in the gaps. We have tons of question marks this year as well, It should be another great season. Best of luck.
  5. Ok. You just proved my point. Now, I'm going by your stats. Let's be clear on that issue. If Goldsmith only had 900 yards in 2014 and ended up with 4000 total yards in 2015. He had over 4x's the yards this year. Wow!! That's incredible!! #5 only increased his production by 300 yards total than the previous year. Which is a good year, don't get me wrong. Goldsmith had 3x's the yards than anyone on his team. So my assumption that Goldsmith was option #1 #2 and #3 would have to be somewhat FACTUAL. Remember, I'm using your stats that you gave me. You might want to double-check my Adamsville math.
  6. Look, I don't know your final team stats for the season. Obviously, you can quote them verbatim. All I know is this. Goldsmith had the ball in his hands the MAJORITY of the time in last part of the season and going into the playoffs. I don't know the percentages on that, but it was blaringly obvious. I know a lot of players didn't get the touches they were accustomed to from the previous year. Neary did get the majority of the touches in our playoff run. That doesn't bother us at all. You give the ball to your playmakers and let them go to work. I'm not degrading your team at all. You guys had a great run when you decided to put it in Goldsmiths hands. That's a compliment. Your welcome.
  7. I have never said we had a sub 4.4 guy. I'm trying to give you guys a compliment. Coach Butler is a great coach and he made the adjustment to put the ball in Goldsmiths hands. I am very realistic in all my posts. As I said earlier in my posts, we are anxiously awaiting this year. Lots of unknowns from some young, talented kids. We have a tough schedule and best of luck to all of our opponents.
  8. Goldsmith was option #!, #2, and #3. Plain and simple. When he moved to QB/RB he touched the ball first 100% of the time. HMMMM. So the offense ran through him. He ran it 80% of the time or threw it the other, bear with me I'm struggling with the math here.....uhhhh the other 19, no 20% of the time. Guys I'm sorry, but if you take Goldsmith's touches away like you did the first 5 games, you guys were a .500 team. I have coached, watched, and played high school basketball and football for over 30 years. There are times when one guy can put the rest of the team on his back and carry them. Goldsmith did that the second half of the year and in to the playoffs!!! That's not a knock against the other 10 guys on offense, its just the facts!! Goldsmith was that once in a decade player a team gets the opportunity to enjoy. I hope you guys have a great 2016 season. I really enjoy the banter!!
  9. Our line is going to be the big question mark. From a size standpoint, we are just as big up front, if not bigger than last years line. That senior class were starters since their sophomore year for the most part. We have a few questions to answer at some of the skill positions. We will still have speed and athletic ability, but they aren't proven yet just like our line. Our first 5 games are against very good teams. We will be able to tell a lot after those games. If the young guys are as hungry as I know they are, this could be one of those years where everyone doesn't expect much and we surprise a lot of people. The District/Region will be tough as always. McKenzie is well coached, but losing the QB and running back will take some time to replace and gel. Halls is extremely athletic and were young last year, We do get McKenzie and Halls at home this year, which will help. Gibson County and JCS will be athletic and we go there this year. TCA lost Superman as you guys call him. He was awesome and about 80-90% of the offense. Anxious to see who enrolls over the summer at TCA. The talent must be down because I hear Coach Butler applied for another coaching position. He didn't get it, but was very close. TCA always "finds" athletes. Should be another fun football season. We are very anxious at Adamsville this year. Lots of unknowns, but excited to see the young guys take the field.
  10. You are the one who used the term "handle." Obviously, we won the regular season game so we did "handle" someone or something. The old adage, "bend but not break" comes to mind. TCA had the best athlete on the field in the playoffs and won the game. I never said anything otherwise. If you hadn't of made the move to Goldsmith I don't think you guys make the playoff run. To say TCA was limited with options would be an understatement. It was Goldsmith or bust. I never said we were a contender last year for a state title. I thought we would make a deep run in the playoffs. That didn't happen. As far as the chest beating goes, I don't do that.
  11. Liberty is loaded with athletes from top to bottom. Everybody knows that. Not once did I say we would beat them. As a coach for over 20 years I have found the only way you get better is to play teams that are better than you. Our coaching staff is not afraid to play bigger, more athletic teams. You guys did beat us in the playoffs, but we did "handle" Goldsmith and Tucker in the regular season. I've seen lots of great athletes in the last 20 years so I know what those guys look like. We only dress about 65 kids now. Our numbers have dropped in the last few years. We just try to win football games on Friday night.
  12. Maybe we should. Over the past few years we have played everyone in Selmer High's district and won those games. (Bolivar, Chester County, Lexington, Selmer High, etc..) Knowing the coaching staff like I do, they would not shy away from playing Liberty. Macnarry I think you should be worried about the Bob kittens. I don't think you guys could finish 3rd in our region. TCA and McKenzie are always solid programs. TCAIntense, I think we have already proven over the past 5-7 years we can hold our own against any team in West Tennessee. I don't know if that make us a "big boy." We just try to put a quality product on the field every Friday night.
  13. We are losing our entire offensive and defensive line. They have been starters since they were sophomores and were some great athletes. Also losing Means and Cotner from the skill positions. We have a lot of young guys who are ready to step up and have been waiting on their time to contribute. Should be another fun year.
  14. What are the expectations for the Cardinals next football season?
  15. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Your last football coach was "let go" because he didn't play the right qb. I was told that by several former football players from Selmer High. Politics have destroyed your football program.
  16. Obviously you are having trouble following the conversation. When I say that we are dominating basketball in McNairy County since the early 90's I'm not speaking of the rivalry between the two schools. I'm talking about overall post-season success. That was the point. You cant even come close to our basketball success since the early 90's. Plain and simple. Selmer High was dominant in the 70's and 80's without a doubt. I have nothing against girl high school programs. Coach Lott is an excellent coach and his record is Hall of Fame worthy. His post-season success is questionable to say the least. They haven't gotten out of the region but a few times. Your football and basketball programs have struggled for years and you cant argue that. Baseball and softball has done well. Golf and tennis? Ok if you want to start going that deep into your sports programs. Politics have killed your major sports programs with baseball being the exception. If someone or some group of people doesn't take notice soon the losses will continue. Why does Selmer High think kids go to Adamsville in the first place? We have success and we don't let parents run our programs. If your a good athlete you play. Our county allows students to choose where they want to go to high school. For years Selmer High got all of the athletes and the second that changed you guys went CRAZY!!!! That's the issue now and why we don't play you guys anymore. Start being successful in football and basketball again and county students may decide to start going back to Selmer high.
  17. Easy big guy. I don't spew anything but facts. Its funny how everything I say is garbage and BS and all of your comments are spot on. I wasn't using our Single A status as an excuse for anything. That's just the facts. Anyway, we don't need excuses over here, we back up our play in every sport. Your analogy about UT Martin and the Lady Vols, that's the best you could come up with......really? You Selmer High guys keep living in past when it comes to sports. That's why your football program is struggling and why basketball will continue to struggle. Stop using your AA district as an excuse. Get better and quit whining!!
  18. First, we have to play the teams that are our enrollment size. Second, as far as post-season championships since the early 90's, that's not even close. Thirdly, you Selmer high guys sure do worry about our programs a lot more than you should. If you spent half that energy you guys might have some successful sports programs. As of late, there is not much to cheer for over there. Finally, you should dominate us in basketball. You are a AA school with more athletes to choose from. But...........that doesn't happen.
  19. Obviously, holding Goldsmith to 200 yards rushing and a couple of touchdowns would be the goal. That may not be enough. Absolute beast of a runner.
  20. Since the early 90's, the rivalry has always been about even. Post-season success since the early 90's clearly goes to Adamsville. That was my point about who had dominated since the 90's. Now to your point about politics. I absolutely agree. The only reason we are not playing Selmer High anymore is plain and simple. Its all about us dominating the football games for the last 5-6 years. We were tired of the BS. By the way, we are playing in the State Football Playoffs this weekend if you want to come out and watch.
  21. Absolutely!!! If Selmer High has to use the multiplier it would destroy all of their high school programs. Anyway, if the Multiplier rule comes into play, we will deal with like everyone else has. I assume we will start zoning kids then and I will wager a lot of money that Adamsville will have a housing boom with all the people moving to Aville.
  22. No. That is not the answer. I have friends who coach at big time private schools across the state of Tennessee and surrounding states. I know what happens at private schools and how the rules can be tested, if you will. Huge difference between open enrollment and privates. Huuuuugggee!!!
  23. Lets all be honest with each other. If any of you had a child who was a really good athlete and you could choose where to send that child. Obviously, you would send them to the school that would benefit them the most. That is a no brainer. McNairy County has open enrollment and the better football program is at Adamsville. Its just that simple.
  24. The only chance the Rebels have is to load the box and make TCA pass. That's easier said than done, I know. Goldsmith is a stud!! TCA will win, but it will take them until the 4th quarter to pull away. The Rebels are well coached and have some really talented athletes.
  25. The head to head over the last 10 years is Adamsville 12 wins and Selmer High has 7 wins. One game was cancelled due to bad weather. Both teams will struggle this year. No doubt.
