  1. Congrats to Brian Nix. Very well deserved. Coach Rankin has left the program in great shape. It’s time to take it to another level. Very excited about our youth programs and all the talent in the pipeline. Alcoa football is definitely headed in the right direction.
  2. I’ll definitely run it by our AD. Will be very interesting to see what kind of reply, if any, he gets…
  3. If possible, have your AD contact Josh Stephens at Alcoa High School. I’m pretty sure he could get you on the schedule. Would really like to see this work out.
  4. Alcoa has wanted that for years. Unfortunately, it won’t happen. I was shocked that West agreed to play. Was nice to see them step up, but I bet they don’t renew the series after next year…
  5. LA yes, CPA no…. Yeah, I hear ya about our strength of schedule. I don’t think it’s as low as what you are suggesting, but it would have been nice to have had Greeneville and Betsy for two years. Those two along with West and Rhea would have been a great boost. Oh well, we wanted it but they didnt, so it’s difficult for me to bash our schedule. We basically play who will play us. We are now paying teams to play us on a consistent basis. I guess money talks… Alcoa also begged Powell, Central and about 48 other schools (several outside the state) to fill covid backouts but ALL refused. None had any REAL good excuses as to why they wouldn’t play….
  6. Now, it’s beginning to sound like a popularity contest…. Anyway congrats to ALL who got the award. I’m sure that all deserved it.
  7. This years Alcoa team wouldn’t have had much for Oakland imho. They would have been able to put points on the board but would have had a difficult time getting defensive stops consistently. Last years team would have been a different story… Alcoa scrimmaged McCallie just before the season started and pretty much had their way with them. I think it was 3 scores to 1 when they decided to call it? The main thing most of us remember is hearing the McCallie head coach screaming at his players, telling them “this isn’t your typical 3A football team!” Anyway, a scrimmage is just a scrimmage. That would have been a great game to see. We had had some great games with LA in the past. This is another game that would have been a great one. They seemed to be a well balanced team. Again, would have been a great game…
  8. Either way, his numbers were/are very impressive.
  9. Since you had to ask, you probably won’t understand. I’ll try anyway. Take Buckles numbers and multiply them by, let’s say, 3. That should give you about what you are looking for…. His numbers come from approximately 20 quarters of 40. (Sorry not including playoffs) 3 may be a bit high, but I’m taking into consideration that Rankin normally calls the dogs off at 42 points… He was also the best player on the best team…
  10. Congratulations to Caden Buckles. 3A Mr. Football Winner! Alcoa quarterback Caden Buckles won the Class 3A award over Waverly Central's Jacob Dooley and Loudon's Keaton Harig. Buckles completed 75% of his passes for 1,382 yards and 18 touchdowns to three interceptions, to go with 239 yards rushing and seven TDs.
  11. And life is especially good in Alcoa and will be for a long time….
  12. The only peeps that WANT Rankin gone are Alcoa haters. Most are Murvul clowns that just want to spew crap because they are miserable in their current situation and lack of any foreseeable improvement. The future of Alcoa football is in its current assistant coaching staff. None of us are getting any younger and the topic of Coach Rankin retiring has been something on the minds of the Alcoa faithful for a couple years now.
  13. Coach Rankin inherited a program that was in great shape. The feeder programs were in great shape and still are. Coach Reid was another excellent coach that brought in some of the best assistants in the state. Fortunately, some are still very much involved with the program. Again, when the time comes, coach Nix will be well suited to continue the tradition at Alcoa. It’s okay to continue to laugh at your Murvul kinfolk, as most are still butthurt over their string of not making it to the BIG game.
  14. You clowns are on here arguing with BC about Alcoa football? Comical. Coach Rankin is second to none when it comes to discipline. Coach Nix, Gamble and the rest of the crew have been under him for years. He has groomed them during that time to be ready to take over the program when the time comes. That’s what good head coaches do! There isn’t anyone that I know of that you idiots claim can’t stand Rankin. Everyone is fully aware of his accomplishments as one of the greatest high school coaches in the country. He’s definitely done more for the Alcoa program than Hunt has done, or will ever do, at Murvul. So, you peeps can continue to wish and dream, but the fact is Alcoa will continue to be Alcoa for a very long time. We all have coach Rankin to thank for that!
