Lavergne Middle School in Rutherford County is seeking a assistant Football and baseball coach. The certification must be Buisness or keyboarding. The job will begin Jan. 3 , 2008. This is not a interim but a full time job. Contact Dirk Ash at ashd@rcs.k12.tn.us

The 2nd Shoney's Shootout will be played 10/20 @ Lavergne High. This is a middle school Bowl contest. The shoot-out will be Lavergne Middle ( 6-2) against a opponent and Central Middle (5-3) against another opponent. We are hoping for a 2 and 4 o'clock kickoff. Maybe people dont like Siegel because of the bogus excuses. Lets look at facts: Siegel went to the line 25 times and Lebanon went to the line 21. Siegel was fouling the last 3 minutes to stop the clock. If the fouls were one sided it was Siegels way. I think Siegel shot poorly from the line 11of 25. So they lost! Jones is a whiner. I have seen him foul for years and he cant figure it out. LHS lost Presley first with 5 fouls and LHS over came it. Oden played as well as I have seen him play. But the attitude is not good. Be honest , people see Oden and jones attitude and tag that to Siegel. Jones whined at SMS , CMS , OHS and now at SHS. Its not the schools fault. The game was lost SHS down 5 shooting 2 and Jones is T up , misses both F/T . LHS hits the 2 shots and score and are up 9. Thanks Jones you are the man.

Anyone have current Disrict records for the boys side. I would like to see the up to date standings. THANKS

What a first half of the season. These seniors were 1-18 as Freshman. These guys have worked for 4 years and have turned it around. Their coaches have worked years to help them on and off the court. This team is 9 - 1. In a smart move , the coaches made the schedule in a way that they could taste success early. Hard work has made a average team good and hopefully will make a good team great. To even get to the region tournament will be a big hurdle. I will concede they are not the most talented team in the district. They do not have the Stars of Siegel , the tradition and players of Oakland or the athletes of RHS. Then you have Cookeville , Warren , Blackman , and Sparta. This District is good this year ! But the guys have come along way. I recognize the journey these guys and coaches have been on and I am impressed. On top of this , these guys have lost 2 juniors , who would have contributed this year. In theses 2 losses the team & coaches have supported Jon Austin Ash and Craig Hutto to the fulliest. They are still part of the team and feel fortunate to be a Blue Devil. To speak on the charactor of this team and their coachs : when JonAustin was Life flighted to Vandy Coach Kiel and several of his teammates were the first people there. When Craig was attacked by the shark in Floridia , team mates and Coach Kiel ,Brown and Mcdowell made the 10 hour drive immediately. I wish them a State Championship but I know that is a long shot ! But I appreciate these guys for how far they have come from 1 - 18 as Freshman and commend the coaches for making a differenc. They are a Team. This is what High School sports is about !!!!!!!!!!!!! I know as Jerry Springer would say I need to go to Oprah!!! Enjoy the journey guys , you have earned the ride.

Craig Hutto , athlete at Lebanon High, will have his story air on ABC's Primetime tonight at 9. Dianne Sawyer did the interview. His recovery has been amazing and all should watch.

Facts - Miller was not a starter for LHS when he left, Alsup was not a starter when he left. Fact LHS is not a Target school. Fact - Your boy Hunt was not rehired at LHS , Cookeville High , Beech High . Fact - No FCS football Player is a starter on a Football program in College. Lets wait and see! Fact you LHS critics on here do not know what you are talking about. By your post please respect your previous high schools and dont tell us where you went!!!!!!!!!!!! The player you are speaking about at Oakland is a good kid but has academic problems he is trying to fix. Fact- Hester returned to LHS from siegel and Grooms was not rehired at LHS. Who is the 2nd coach from SIegel?

Volzchamps I figured from your Gallatin vs LHS post you were crazy. But now saying the DII schools could not finish in the top 8 in Class A! Class A has good football but MBA , BA ,JPII ect. are good programs. I believe FCS got a good taste of JPII the last 2 years. JPII was not a Div. II stand out last year. So people need to beware of your post and knowledge of Tenn. High School f/b. Maybe in your semi -pro experience you tool 1 to many shots.

2 of the best assistants in middle Tn are Darren Brown from Lebanon & Michael Couey from Lavergne High. I dont know if either would be interested but both are excellent. Brown has got AA Head coaching experience and is a great guy. Couey played at OHS and at Belmont. Remember Luna and his experience on the high school level when he took over. Young and excited is not always a bad thing.

Coach Thompson I played on the 89 team. The year before when you coached us we were 5-21. We did not play the same style for Coach Ash as we did for you. We had fun with you as coach but you were not Coach Ash. I have heard Ash say the players during his run were the reason they had success. I hear you blowing your own horn. I think we had a good team and coach in 89. But all that is History ! It was not your coaching that got us there in 89. Lets be real. I am a public school guy and follow AAA boys. I saw the finals on Saturday. I will tell you if Wright plays on any AAA team I saw play this year that team plays in the state next year. BA also is very well coached. You have to give them credit ! Notice I did not say they would walk thru the tournament. They are very good at what they do. He is the best impact player I have seen in years.
