  1. I definitely would say historically outside of Milan, Huntingdon’s program is rich when talking about West TN Football. However, I will say this, since Huntington re-aligned to middle TN district and are 1A when Trenton and UC in the same district no less. (Dresden for a little while as well as Adamsville and Trinity). Just seems like winning seasons against that type of competition holds more weight. Also not real sure to make of these undefeated seasons and not even getting to the semis. I can’t say I thought they were overly impressive. In saying that though I totally agree that Huntingdon could definitely compete with those teams, which they always have. Can’t say they are as decorated the last 10 years though
  2. I think Milan is a lot better than last year based on the fact they were a sophomore laden team. The difference between sophomores and juniors is significant. But in defense, Trenton won state last year with a junior dominated team. It’s so hard to predict. As usual turnovers, penalties and the war in the trenches determines the winner of equally matched teams
  3. I think if you look at most of Trenton’s schedule this season as well as the additional talent they have, they could get through a lot of those games if Baugus was out. Not sure Milan is one of them though. Also I think taking things away from jamboree play is way overrated.
  4. If you are referrring to Trenton-Milan, I can just about guarantee there won’t be any overlooking going on. I’d say Milan might have been the best team Trenton played last year, and I doubt that changes this year
  5. As bitter of a pill as it was to lose to GC last year for Peabody, I would say the majority of Tide fans definitely are in support of GC improving their program. This could be a really fun rivalry game with big gate turnouts for both programs and would be beneficial to the north side of the county. Games are more meaningful when they are competitive (which outside of last year it hasn’t been). If that means losing to GC because they have gotten better a little more often than the past 30 years, I think it would still be better overall for fan interest
  6. For me it would be these 3 in this order. 1. NCS 2015, 2. UC. 2014, 3. Dresden 2016
  7. What’s this kid from Dickson Co’s Last name? Trenton is far from hurting at RB with Dickson and Wilkins coming back, but good athletes are always positive
  8. It’s definitely unfortunate but that game was almost not worth playing this year. Definitely need to replace Dresden and TCA with some above average teams, just wouldn’t go crazy and schedule a couple of teams like Haywood, Covington, Huntingdon, etc. Got to keep the eye on the prize at the end of the year. That being said you want good gate games and games that will keep the moderately interested fans coming
  9. I do think that getting Humboldt off the schedule is positive at this point in their program, and after what happened with Dresden this year, that’s probably necessary too. I would hope to continue to play TCA as a non region opponent
  10. First, congrats to PHS, king of 2A, great football team. In regards to next year, first enjoy this! Regardless of how good your team is coming back, winning championships are rare and often are a combination of talent, luck, brackets, and especially staying injury free! Yes, Peabody had to overcome injuries, but as is the case this year, Peabody’s big three (Baugus, Halbrook, and Dixon) have to stay healthy. 2nd, next years team can’t be compared to this years, losing 7 seniors on defense will be a challenge, not saying it can’t be done though! 3rd, I wouldn’t get in a hurry to beef up the schedule for a couple of reasons. On a regular year, playing UC, Milan, Adamsville, McKenzie, an improving GC is a tough enough schedule! Also, when you play greater competition your chances of injury are higher. I would rather keep from beefing up the schedule in the regular season if that means they are healthy in November when it counts. Definitely a lot to look forward to next year!
  11. Just don’t see this game being a blowout either way. Both teams have good lines, play solid defense, and have multiple ways of scoring. Both have the combination of speed and power in the backfield. If you watch their highlights, they are very similar. I think it really could come down to turnovers.
  12. I have not seen TC play this year, but have seen some more videos in hudl. Very good football team from what I’ve seen. Probably fair to say they are the best Peabody will face, but what do you expect, it’s the state championship game! Offensively they have 3 good backs between Baines, Satterfield, and Rankin, definitely going to be a challenge. Very similar to Peabody in that you have multiple play makers
  13. I hear a lot about TC’s history and they definitely are a historical powerful in 2A. Not sure how much that plays into this matchup though. Both schools are used to winning and correct me if I’m wrong but Peabody has been to Cookeville most recent of the 2 back in 2014
  14. Well this is for the big one, one things for sure, both teams have earned their trip! Real hard to predict this one, probably even harder than last round, with no common opponents or real knowledge of Competition. But if you keep up with 2A football, you hear about TC an awful lot, and in the past 5 years Trenton has made 3 semis and 2 finals, so they are used to playing late in Nov as well. Bottom line, very rarely are you going to win the title game without a fight and I predict a good one!
  15. Well this sure was a good game that lived up to the billing. Congrats to both teams! Did the weather play a role in the game? Absolutely, both teams had to keep it a little more basic and there were some huge turnovers that probably don’t happen on a dry night. All that being said, Peabody earned this one. I think their defense consistently contained Waverly except for a few big plays to #37, very good receiver btw. But as it the case with most games, Peabody really did a good job at stopping the run game, which most often correlated with success. Great seasons for both teams, and impressive fan bases
  16. Just got to remember this is an anonymous thread and a lot of post aren’t serious, or maybe are not well-informed. But anyone that truly keeps up with Peabody football knows this isn’t going to be an easy victory and is up for grabs. Waverly will be a major challenge
  17. This year I would say Milan is the best Trenton faced, then an inspired Gibson Co team and Union City I would say. Regardless, we can debate this over and over. Both of these teams are elite this year as far as 2a goes, that’s why they are still playing and I think they both are battle tested and ready
  18. Regardless of what happened in that scrimmage, it means very little. First, it’s a scrimmage and it was also at the beginning of the season. Second, Waverly passes the eye test when you watch clips, and third they have competed with some good teams and beat most of them. Think it will be a good game for sure. If they can put 42 up on Huntingdon, they are pretty good
  19. In fairness, they had several college players led by Daniel Bituli, who is fairing pretty well, so no I’d say they had more athletes lol
  20. I agree with ya on that one, and Trenton did have a really good team that year. But let’s be honest, you can’t produce the amount of talent NCS had without open enrollment, at the 1A level, and open enrollment in Nashville is ridiculous to be playing 1a football which they were at the time
  21. Nashville Christian’s dream team. That’s the best 2a team I have seen. I would put them over any UC team, and that’s saying something
  22. Almost impossible to predict how this one will go. Watched some videos on Waverly. They have a really good team, they’re setup is similar to Peabody’s offense, but they kind of remind me of Trinity from 2014 with the Akin kid, definitely throw the ball around quite a bit, but have a good running game to compliment it. Also their receivers CATCH the ball which makes a world of difference in high school. Is this correct? Stanfield won Mr Football last year and Dixon is a finalist this year? Regardless, I can agree that this will be the best offense by far Trenton has played this year, especially with the variety they offer. Normally Region 7 is very tough, but this is one of those odd years where everyone was down, so Trenton’s defense will definitely be put to the test. I still think Trenton’s defense is really good and they are up to the challenge for sure! No idea how this one will go, looking forward to it
  23. Just a hard one to predict, no common opponents and both teams play entirely different. Just a couple of unknowns going in. Just an educated guess but I can see this going one of two ways. If it is a high scoring game with few defensive stands, you’d think that favors Waverly. But, if the winning score is below thirty, I think that would be good for Trenton. It kind of sounds like waverly and Trenton are pretty similar in their offensive setup, in terms of balance
  24. I can agree with most of this post, it will be a completely different game and both sides know that too. Only thing I don’t know will be correct is that UC just needs a couple stops, and they’ll win. Most of the time, UC scores at will and eats the clock which is their best form of defense. However, Trenton has a good defense this year and may be able to stop UC drives more often than at other times...But Trenton has to score and not have a lot of 3 and outs. 3 and outs are pretty much the nail in the coffin against UC
