  1. Saw it... seems like the QB lost his mojo just before mid season. Didn't play like the same kid from that point on. Hope they get that remedied for next year because the kid has the physical tools to be good. As challenged as DB was on defense this year, the offense had problems of its own. There were 2-3 games the defense played good enough to win, but the INTS and fumbles cost DB the game. Didn't perform well under pressure. Some want to put it all on defense and d-coaches, but that's probably due to some unresolved issues they may have with them. While it's true there are problems with the defense, it isn't the only area with room for improvement. A few bright spots on both sides of the ball this year. Hope they learn from the struggles this year and get to work getting stronger and smarter next year. Otherwise, it will be exponentially worse for all involved.
  2. Hate to be Captain Obvious, but did anybody stop to think the band put a placeholder on their calendar just in case there was a home playoff game?
  3. There are plenty that have the 'want to' they just need the 'get to'. It's just easier use a broad brush to say they don't have heart than for the coaches (and I will use that term loosely ) realize they are wasting talent. Shake up the starting roster and see what happens. I guarantee you'll get better effort in a few positions. Maybe it would motivate some of the priveledged favorites to play a little harder and smarter.
  4. Wasn't just o-line. Looks like a grease fire on Ft. Henry Drive.
  5. That's part of the frustration, Bulldog. We have a great atmosphere, facilities, and lots of wasted talent. I'll not pretend to know how the politics of DB football work, but I can see that something is going on even if I can't put my finger on it. I won't take anything away from the Bearden Bulldogs; they came prepared to win and did just that. I wish you had been at J. Fred when the joint was rockin! That is aan experience like no other. Unfortunately, we won't see that again until some changes take place on the field and sidelines.
  6. Lot of the kids have nothing to play for. Work hard all week, make plays in the very few times they're called on, get no recognition, then sent back to the bench so the select chosen few can give the game away. It's easy for coaches to say players don't have heart in situations like this. The right thing to do is look in the mirror first and rethink about who they should point the finger at. Of course that would take the coaches (top to bottom) caring about the program more than personal gain.
  7. Sad thing about the gc show is that they only show the good DB plays, so there's a lot of time for bad one-liners used asfiller for a 30 minute show.
  8. I've wanted to post for a long time, but just held off, and I can't hold back anymore. DB has so much talent that they should not be in the position they're in. The problem is, several kids who should be playing are either on the sidelines or playing the wrong position. Wholesale changes are way overdue. Both sides of the ball need to get some new blood in the rotation, but I don't think the pride or arrogance of the coaches will let that happen. Defensive backs are fast but couldn't cover a penny with a beach blanket. The offense can't score enough points to keep up with the points the defense is giving up. The depth at DB is there, they just won't get the 2s or 3s in the game for meaningful snaps. Probably afraid that they would outplay the "stars". Maybe we can recruit some more players from the band. That has been the only bright spot of the year so far.
  9. The feeling watching DB football on Fridays and UT football on Saturdays is eerily similar.
