  1. I absolutely agree with you. They need a coach that has no ties to McNairy Central High, the boosters, and the school board. Bobcat fans do have to understand that it takes time to rebuild. The one thing that sucks about the job is because what if a coach sees what the previous coaches have? If you get 3 wins per season, the coach is gone after the 2018 season. With that being said, a coach should see that as motivation. 2016 is a restart for the McNairy Central Bobcats!!!
  2. Decatur County Riverside and McNairy Central
  3. Serious question about the Peabody postgame tirade! 1. Where was Peabody locker room? Is it attached to the school? Is it one of those locker room where they can use it both for visiting teams in football and basketball? 2. Who puts a TV in the locker room? That's just asking for trouble. 3. Ever wonder if the TV is on during school hours? I walk through school hallways all the time that has TV's on the walls and they are never on!
  4. I agree with you 100% on everything you just said. This is where the AD should be put into blame. If there has been 2 coaches in 4-6 that has been "resigned" is pretty ridiculous. The AD at McNairy should be put to blame because is the AD the one who hires them? I respect every football player at McNairy. Why? Because every player could just walk out and enroll at Adamsville if they choose to. I was at a McNairy game earlier this year and I thought the field was good. Not the best shape, but I've seen worse. I didn't like his yelling on the sideline. I don't like it when a coach is yelling on the sideline unless it is something just stupid that player does. And I heard Coach Hodge was rough on the referees. If I'm the AD at McNairy. I'm going to look at an assistant coach that is a positive guy that focus on winning. McNairy can't afford to mess around. The AD in Selmer needs to hit a homerun on this hire.
  5. TCAIntense this is what I'm saying. I'm going to use North Side as an example. 2008 North Side went 2-8 (Pat Massey's last season as the head coach) 2009 North Side went 7-4 (Tab Vowell's first season as the head coach) 2010 North Side went 12-1 2011 North Side went 2-8 (Injury prone year. Very few Seniors a lot of Juniors) 2012 North Side went 13-1 (Craig and company senior year. Lost to Jalen Hurd and Beech) 2013 North Side went 9-3 2014 North Side went 10-2 2015 North Side went 9-3
  6. The reason why Trinity was brought up in the thread was because somebody said Liberty is a city school that'll go from 10-13 wins one year and go 1-9 the next season. I disagree with him for obvious reasons. Trinity is still a team, a good team!Building a team that plays mostly freshman and sophomores, you'll obviously will get good results when they turn juniors and seniors. Trinity Christian 2016 Football will be a critical year, MARK MY WORDS!!! It irritates me when people say a high school team is in rebuilding mode (you're not the only one), they only have 4 years to play. This isn't the pros. A perfect way to describe TCA is a roller coaster ride that is about to go down and back up again!
  7. I know you probably don't live in the western side of the state but here's a few softball players From South Gibson County (Medina) Kaitlyn Martin (University of Tennessee at Knoxville) Aly Walker (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga) From Madison Academic High School (Jackson) Alexus Jimmerson (Jacksonville State University) From Dresden High School (Dresden) Kayla Hayes (Bryan College) From Adamsville High School (Adamsville) Gabby Morris (Union University) Parker Davis (Union University)
  8. I think Sacred Heart (Jackson) has around 50 students in the high school. They play 8 on 8 football. I hate 8 on 8 football
  9. Currently have a feeling that this guy is picking East to win because he lives in the city of Memphis. Do you understand that Lexington is playing great football right now?
  10. I strongly disagree with what you are saying. Coach Turner and Steve Hookfin will not make a team go from 10-13 wins to only 1 win. Liberty and North Side are programs in Jackson. TCA is a team. What's the difference between a program and a team? Consistency. Go ahead and put North Side and Liberty down for 8+ wins in 2016, it's now a guarantee. I don't know what to expect from Trinity because Andrew Goldsmith is their team (I can careless what the TCA people says) and he has very few supporters. I'm worried about Trinity in 2016. They went from 10+ wins in 2013 and 2014 to seeing if Goldsmith can carry the Lions on Friday against McKenzie. I don't think the tradition is a big deal because Liberty and North Side was a "nobody" before Coach Hookin and Vowell took place. Both Coach Turner and Vowell are too good of coaches to let that ruin their programs.
  11. Haha I know don't know how he got that game right. I'm pulling for Liberty in 3A and East in 4A. I'm tired of seeing all the Gold Balls not coming back to West Tennessee.
  12. Out of two seasons he only had one "impressive" win and that was this season against McNairy Central. All the other games that the Bobcats won, they were favored. He said in the jacksonsun.com "The program is in the best shape it's been in for the last six or seven years because the facilities are where they need to be and all the BAD APPLES are gone." What made him feel different than the other previous coaches? He acted like he won something big but only won 6 games in 2 seasons.
  13. Pearl Cohn and Memphis East both played at Muscle Shores (AL) this season. East lost 28-21 Pearl Cohn lost 49-20. If that doesn't surprise you then what does? Memphis East humiliated Hardin County (10-1) 40-16. Trezevant was the 4A runner-up last season, Memphis East beat them by 24! Us West Tennesseans are tired of y'all picking for the East Tennessee teams just because they are the closest team to home. That is what screws up the Mr. Basketball voting.
  14. Even though Lexington always has a great crowd, I don't believe home field will be a factor in this game. Memphis East will win this game 28-21!
  15. And to clarify of what I just said. The officials in tonight's game didn't decide the game. Lexington just wanted the game more than North Side. Lexington was just the better team all around.
  16. First and foremost, congratulations to the Lexington Tigers on winning this game. I thought Lexington's defensive line won the game. They made Shaw feel uncomfortable all night and when Shaw was comfortable to throw a pass, Lexington's secondary did a pretty good job of containing. Lexington's offense got off to a good start by scoring a touchdown on the first. After that, it was kind of shaky until midway of the 3rd quarter when Lexington took time off the clock and scored a touchdown. NS offense did not show up! North Side should've scored a touchdown or two in the first half. No excuses! I thought they had a chance to do it several times in the game. I want to move to the officials in tonight's game. I thought they were one sided in a way and here's why. First, North Side got called for an block in the back on a kickoff play. The ref that threw that flag, was the line judge that is near the goal line. Not the back judge which should have the actual view of that block. In other words, the referee threw a flag wasn't really in his area in a way. I disagree with the targeting call. When #32 for North Side lost his balance and fell and apparently #32 head hit the runners head and the ref just assume that's targeting. #32 for North Side did NOT launch his head at the runner. In the 4th quarter there was a pass interference that should've been called on Lexington but wasn't called. What really pissed my off the most was at the end of the 3rd quarter. The referee chopped his arm down and blew his whistle for ready to play, that was around the 27 second mark. Therefore, if a delay of game is called, it would at the 2 second mark (27-25=2). Somehow and someway, the quarter ends and there wasn't a delay of game. That ticked me off, I will admit that. Penalties tonight: North Side had around 10-14 penalties Lexington had I think 3 penalties (2 defensive holdings and a Delay of game) If you went to the game, please be honest and admit that I'm telling the truth! I know blaming the officials is the perfect excuse for the losing team, but I know I'm not the only one that noticed this. Typical Memphis referees!
  17. I made the comment last week that Lexington's second half schedule was weak and LHSKICKER dude came at me and said they were playing great (the eye test). I picked Ridgeway last week to beat Lexington for that one reason (weak schedule), I WAS WRONG!!!! It's still 50/50 and either team can win it. I just wish Vegas did a spread for this game! I'm at North Side alum so I have to pick for my Indians! But again, I'm only rooting for North Side because I graduated there! North Side 27 Lexington 24. Good luck to both teams!!!!!!!!!!! #BundleUP
  18. I know we can't sleep on those Memphis teams! Picked Ridgeway to beat Lexington by 20 and I sure did embarrassed myself!!!!!!
  19. Your kidding right? This is the same Melrose team that snuck past Westview 28-21 while Liberty beat them 53-20. I get it that your confident in your Memphis teams, but have some more realistic predictions. First you said Memphis East will beat Hardin County by 23 now we got an upset over arguably one of the best defenses in West Tennessee.
  20. Meanwhile back on this thread. Both teams has some weapons, buy I'm going with East on this one. Memphis East 35 Hardin County 28
  21. RedMan I don't think you get it. First of all, Milan receives a good amount of gate money by playing Peabody (which is a rival if not WILL be a rival) and Huntingdon (Which is one the best "rivalries" in West Tennessee). Milan WILL NOT swap Huntingdon for North Side I can guarantee you that. In previous years, North Side has always looked around for a non-district opponent to play. Hardin County is in the same boat so they both played each other. North Side had to play both Clarksville Northeast and Millington in 2011-12. Now with the TSSAA going back to the regions, the non-district games are limited. North Side only has 2 and therefore it's obviously will be JCM and Liberty. North Side will play Southside in the Jamboree for now on. DO NOT CALL MILAN'S REGION "WEAK." They have Liberty and Dyersburg, 3 teams in that region that can beat you on any giving night. Just like Region 7-4A (Lexington, Hardin Co. and North Side (Haywood possibly in a few years)). That is a mistake to begin with! Playing up has always been the issue. Remember like a decade ago when USJ was a D-1 school and they were terrible. And now they are D-2 and just a mediocre 6-8 win team every year. So if you want to criticize a team for not playing up, IMO it's USJ. Now let's go into all the money this and that (stuff we really shouldn't be talking about on the internet, but I will go ahead and say it). The Lasley family has always done a great job as the "boosters family." They were the guys to lean on and get the job done. They always make sure the players are fed before the game (TCA doesn't do pregame meals, their players eat at restaurants before game). What is amazing is this, North Side (Freshman and varsity team) has about 90-100 players. Out of all of those players, only about 7 parents attends the booster clubs meeting. 2 of those 7, are Ms. and Mr. Lasley. North Side has about 5 fundraisers a year. EVERYBODY HATES FUNDRAISING!!!!! The football team does not receive any of the "gate money." All that gate money will go into an athletic fund. All the minor sports at North Side grabs their hands into that money, but the football team will get some of the money if they need it. So North Side football really gets robbed in a way because the PATHETIC girls basketball team took some of that money and decided to go to Orlando and play 4 games (which they got destroyed). The attendance to the basketball are painful to see. The Lasley family moved on (but hasn't really completely moved on) because their son graduated, so somebody else is in.
  22. Prediction Liberty 35 Melrose 14 Liberty will lose money in this game. I've heard only 2 people showed up for Melrose when they played Bolivar earlier this season. 2 people sitting on Melrose's side
  23. 3 guys I will recommend from West Tennessee 1. Blake Butler (Trinity Christian Academy, Jackson). Butler is in his 5th season as the head coach for TCA. Right now, Butler's record is 36-21. Butler has sent the 2A Lions to the semifinals in 2013. He has also has a player that is a semi-finalist for Mr. Football, that player is Andrew Goldsmith. He also had a player that won Mr. Football and currently plays football at UT-Martin, that guy is Kyle Akin. 2. Shane Jacobs (Trenton Peabody) After spending 3 years as an assistant for the Golden Tide, Jacobs is in his first year as the head coach for the Golden Tide. 9-2 Peabody plays 11-0 Union City this upcoming Friday. Last year, the Tide won the 1A state championship as Jacobs was the Defensive coordinator. 3. Tab Vowell (North Side, Jackson) Coach Vowell is in his 7th season as the head coach for the Indians. Tab's current record is 62-21. Tab resume includes: Two 10-0 seasons, if the Indians beat Lexington on Friday, Tab will reach 10 wins in a season for the 4th time, a semifinals game (Against Jalen Hurd's Beech Bucs) and a quarterfinal game. All of these three guys are my recommendations, all you have to do is call.
