A middle school backup tailback would have gotten the first down running straight up the gut. None of that has to do,with play calling.

Yes we were very flat against MTCS. We were missing 11, 76, and 34. Missing 11 was a big deal, but the thing that nearly got us beat was not being able to stop the run up the middle because of 34 being out. There is no replacing him.

Where is the visible dropoff? Mario was fantastic in the open field, but no way was he a better pure tailback between the tackles than Leland. Bituli was a great back, but not near the quickness of Leland. Leland Willhoite will be the most known and talked about tailback in the history of NCS football. His yards after contact are something to behold. Then you still have 26, 2, and whoever lines up in the slot whether it be 3, 28 or 34. There is really only one position that has not been filled from last season. It is as much a leadership thing as it is talent. When you talk about last years team, dont forget that a lot of the players who got major playing time from last year have gained a lot of weight, speed and strength. 27, 28, 2, 42, 11, 26, 76, 78, 34, 23, 72. There are some players on this list who IMO were better last year than some who started. Im not saying we are better now, but if there is a falloff, its not big at all. This might be somewhat off topic, but I'll go ahead and put it out there; I predict next years NCS team will be it's best team in school history. PS Leland is hands down a better defender than Mario. Plays a different position I know, but just a better, more valuable defensive player.

I've seen a lot of posts so far about stopping 11, how to tell which way he's going to run, playing tight on 3 and not letting him get off the line, so forth and so on. The real question is what are you going to do about the NCS defense? It has been said that defense wins championships, and it has never been more true than in 1A football. There are several defenders all within five tackles of being the leading tackler on this defense. It is literally a competition to see who can get to the ball carrier first. Talk all you want to about 11. It's the other 11 who will get you.

My issue or questioning if you want to put it that way was not with the TSSAA. They are not a law enforcement agency. My question was about whether or not the coach knew that the player was in TN legal or not. Bass answered that question. There are some things that happen on the news that are true. Do you reckon you might have a few questions about a similar case if it was CA or NCS? I bet you would! Now, have a little common sense and READ. It's all in the thread. My guess is that you dont care that much to read.

If you see 34 in a route, there is no need to cover him, or 2, or 28, or 27, or 11. Just watch out for 3 and you will be ok!

Reading comprehension? I haven't seen any reading material on the whole case. All I have seen is a channel 4 news video, and possibly you have no video comprehension because the reporter is a woman. Nope, you are absolutely wrong about a kid being found in a fishing hole. Aint nobody looking at teams who never play against real competition or have reps against other good teams. No one is interested in the local hero who might run 4.7 rushing for three hundred a game against middle school jv teams playing HS football. Being loyal? Really? My kid's public middle school coach was arrested in front of him one day durring practice for having a relationship with a student. Teachers at that school were fired for soliciting prostitutes online. There were at least three suicides at that school within three years. I don't feel any need for him to be loyal to something like that.

Wow! Sounds like a lot of effort went forward in getting this young man. If I didnt know any better, it sounds like a few recruiting visits and calls were made. Im sure thats not what happened. Im sure it was just a case of the coach's love and concern for this fabulous football player's welfare to reach out in compassion across state lines, with parents, school officials, athletic associations, law enforcement and the judicial system to make sure the young man had a descent school to go to. That's not recruitment at all! I just wonder what would have happened if he was 5 ft 6, 145 lbs and ran a 5.3. Im sure the coach would have done the same thing!

These are the type of games that make people sit and wonder for a week. We have no idea how good the teams out west are because everyone changes from year to year. We dont play many common opponents and I dont know how much anyone can take from that anyway. Its always one of those wait and see situations when we play y'all or WC.
