  1. If your team has the MVP, then it is hard to put multiple people on the 1st team as well. Consider the MVP as part of the 1st team, and then go from there. If the choices go by the votes of the coaches, then what do the players have to complain about? Don't you want to be recognized by those who watch you play, and compete against you? If they win the district, and make a run at sub-state, and possibly state, then it won't matter. Hopefully they don't let this create any division on that Eagles team. Also, remember several years ago when, for whatever crazy reason, Alaina Jordan didn't get MVP, and then dropped like a million points in the district tournament? <Maybe they can prove their point that way.
  2. in District 4 it should be between Smith at Oakdale, and McKinney at Coalfield, but the Murray kid at OS could sneak in there as he is pretty much carry that entire team single-handedly. A 41 point game doesn't hurt the resume either.
  3. AAU has adversely affected the integrity of high school basketball, now it is infecting this forum as well........
  4. The guy who does Oneida's games is pretty solid. Always very polite, respectful, and gracious towards the opposing team's coaches. For some old school (almost good ol' boy) radio, WECO does the games for Morgan County teams. That can get "interesting" (and one sided for one particular Morgan County school) at times.
  5. Everyone thought the same thing about Oakdale vs. Wartburg, and that was a relatively mild game scoring-wise for both.
  6. Which of the seemingly consensus "bottom 3" do people think has the best chance of pulling a first round upset in District 4, and advancing to the region? -Sunbright -Jellico -Oneida Assuming that is where they are seeded come tourney time. And what about outside of the Top 4 in District 3?
  7. You're right, no one here has said anything positive about the Eagles, or the fact that they are easily the most talented in the district. Just because people are asking questions, and having discussion about the teams, doesn't mean they are trying to "bash" the team.
  8. What do people think are the chances of OR advancing further (or possibly winning) at state this year? Already making the assumption that they will make it back to state.
  9. What do you mean by exposed? Or just in general, that they can be beaten?
  10. Looks like Wartburg got Oakdale last night in a relatively low scoring game for these two teams.
  11. So at this point, with little more than a two weeks left before tournament time, what's the run down of each district (top to bottom) with strengths, weaknesses, and chance of winning district tournament or at least advancing to the region. Any top teams that could have problems based on a certain matchup that might come their way?
  12. Anyone know what's going on with Greenback? With that good of a football program you think there would be enough good athletes to at least stay middle of the pack in the district. I know it's a tough road this year in 3A, but still getting run like that seems a bit extreme. Were there players out for GB?
  13. That's what I was wondering. Just not used to seeing the OS girls with a W-L that looks like that. I'm going to try to get out to their game next Tuesday or Thursday.
  14. Looking at their record 3-14 (2-3 in district), I am wondering what is going on with the OS team?!?!? They are usually the cream of the crop in this district, and are struggling this season. Has all the alent graduated? Are they young and having to learn how to win? Not passing any judgement, just honestly curious.
  15. Glad somebody knew the answers as I was really curious, and would hate to see the regular season title decided in a "fly by night" situation. Hadn't even thought about the security, etc. Does this mean that the middle games are getting the benefit of "better" refs that will be there for the high school quarter and a quarter?
  16. While I agree that it's fair about the Kilby kid getting to play, I just wonder how Oakdale will feel about a kid getting to "finish" this game, if he wasn't going to be bale to finish originally.
  17. Finishing up that game later is interesting... 1) I'm assuming that only the players on the books for that night can play now (no players "back from injury" could participate at this point) 2) What if a player is injured now, and it affectes the outcome? 3) Do they have the same refs from that night? 4) Do they have to pay for refs again?
  18. Thursday's Games: -Jellico vs. Campbell County (Jellico in a close one at home by 4) -Oneida @ Clarkrange (Clarkrange 20+) Friday's Games: -OS @ Harriman (Harriman won at OS, so Harriman 15+ at home) -Coalfield @ Wartburg (Wartburg 7+) -Sunbright vs. Scott County (Scott won at Sunbright earlier, so they win 25+ at home) Any idea if Oakdale is playing tonight or tomorrow? Didn't see anything for them.
  19. So does that mean Coalfield creditted with the win?
  20. Glad to hear things are getting better. This district is always better with a solid Oneida squad in the mix. Makes that trip to Scott County much more dreadful with the fear of losing during the bus ride.
  21. Do any of the teams from district 3 or 4 have a real shot at making it to state? -Oakdale, if they can keep making shots. -GCA -Meigs
  22. I've seen more oftent hat football coaches don't want their players playingother sports. "They need to be in the gym in the off-season working out." But more often than not, players will return to the football field after a season of basketball with better footwork, agility, and overall cardiovascular endurance.
  23. Tuesday's line-up has: -Jellico at Oliver Springs (OS by 5+ at home) -Oakdale at Coalfield (Oakdale 12+, and keep on rolling) -Sunbright at Oneida (Oneida pulls out a victory at home by 3) -Wartburg at Rockwood (Wartburg by 18+)
  24. Anyone know whent he first matchup between Oakdale and Wartburg is? Can't find it on here.
