McKenzie. I'm a Jackson native so I try to keep up with things the best I can there. I don't think you can win a title in Gibson County but the job is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. I would like to see them make a splash. They need to recruit a coach. I don't think they'll have many good applicants. Probably like the McNairy job, but I think you can win more in Gibson County.

Coach McCauley appears to have taken the high road based on what I've heard out of Jackson North Side. He will be looked over for the North Side job because of it. He is one of a few guys that can win at Gibson County. I would hate for that offense he runs to be in our district but it'd be fun to watch.

Based on what I've read, Coach McCauley should seriously consider Gibson County job. He can win 7 games next year. He'll need to grow a man bun.

They need to call Coach Jason McCauley. It would be a good move for both parties.

Well I'm no expert but this board appears filled with a lot of inside information. Sounds like some assistant coaches jockeying for position. Guys, stop embarrassing yourselves with this. No administrator reads this board to help himself make a decision. I don't know who you guys are but based on what I've read I hope they go outside the program. For those of you not around to see the rise and fall of JCM stay tuned. Here comes the sequel.

I have been informed that the man bun has been cut. I'm not one to spread rumors but I have heard this from a reliable source. I do think this hurts your program fox trot. Man bun or not, you'll need more than that to slow my Rebs.

If Gillard is a done deal, is he actually a better coach than Vowell? It seems difficult to ask this, but it's possible Liberty upgraded from Hookfin. No one thought that would be possible. If Gillard is the man, I hope he keeps the program at a high level. I root for all of the Jackson schools.

4thq...All of this could be why they're looking for a new coach? I'm confused. They did not rehire a coach to bring Gillard in so that he could be the next coach? Was North Side admin wanting Vowell out?

I lived in Jackson and went to the old Jackson High. I'm far removed from the happenings there but have tried to stay somewhat in the know. North Side can easily become JCM. The wrong hire can spell disaster. Liberty has appeared to avoid this with what appears to be a solid hire. Will North Side do the same?

I'm not familiar with Gillard. However, hiring from within seems reasonable. North Side has won a lot of games. One would think there are some quality assistants there. Vowell is a well respected, established coach. I would think whoever is hired will have big shoes to fill.

I'm proud of our boys playing some good basketball. Sure wish it was football season though.

TennesseeVol...are there any coaches that have Jackson North Side ties that might be a good fit? Jacobs at Peabody coached there. Carey Craig played there. Perhaps Hardegree might be worth calling?

I agree. From the outside looking in, it appeared USJ had the best of both worlds. This is a head scratcher for sure.

I agree that high school should not be like college; however, your statement is a double standard. If one should not be fired for losing, then one should not be retained simply because he's winning. School administrators should ask themselves a question. Why does our school sponsor a football team? To win? To teach young men intangible lessons outside the classroom? Add several other cliche reasons to have a team. My point... Administrators' responses to this very loaded question will guide them in who to hire, who to fire, and who to retain.

Coach Vowell, in my opinion, is the top coach in West Tennessee. I do not feel he needs fired. My argument is that Vowell and Marley have the same record over the last five years. I digress. USJ has made a tough decision. Someone compared him to Mark Richt. This is more like Bobby Bowden. Kudos to the administration for making such a tough decision. TennesseeVol, do me a favor. Open a thread in 3a-4a and begin a discussion of top five head coaches in West Tennessee. You'll see Vowell's name in several lists. In my humble opinion, you should see Marley's as well.

We have a transfer coming from west carroll. I like our team next year. I saw a lot of bright spots with the jv guys and younger guys on Fridays.
