  1. I didn’t think they even held kids back anymore. That’s interesting. If they did, may’ve been at his parents request. Schools very very rarely hold kids back anymore.
  2. DB wouldn’t even have to play their starters and could still win easily.
  3. This one will be close but I think with it being at Boone that the Blazers will get the win. I don’t think missing Dukes or Hill will make a big difference for The Hill. The best RB for the Toppers appears to be the Chester kid anyway. He’s not as big or strong as Dukes but he’s more shifty and quicker. They also like to use the Moon kid (typically plays WR) out of the backfield and he’s the best player they have. That kid has wheels.
  4. West Ridge. As bad as they looked against Science Hill a few weeks ago, William Blount looked worse.
  5. West Ridge fans will be happy to hear that William Blount is awful. So there’s an upcoming win for the Wolves after the rough season they’ve had so far.
  6. Hilltoppers get the win, 35-0. The score could’ve been a lot worse but Science Hill took their starters out at the half, with their 2nd and 3rd string players playing the second half (and with a running clock in the second half as well). I knew William Blount was bad but man, they’re bad. Real bad.
  7. DB by whatever score they want. West Ridge is just really really bad this year.
  8. Science Hill seems to have found a little bit of a groove. They started out the season with a win at Elizabethton. Then, got blown out at home vs Anderson County. The following week they hammered West Ridge at home. And last Friday, they almost pulled off the upset at Powell. Like blazer said, a very Jekyl/Hyde team 4 weeks into the season but they do appear to be getting better so I’m going with the Hill by two TD’s.
  9. Not close to what many of my Crockett friends were saying. I work with two who told me all week they believed this game would be close.
  10. Is anyone really surprised? Crockett is not good.
  11. This game actually ended up a lot closer than I was expecting. Powell is the better team but I do think Science Hill is improving as the season goes on.
  12. Your observation was incorrect. I was at the game. Science Hill had their backups in with about 4 min to go in the 3rd qtr. They continued to run the ball. They scored one TD once their backups were in. Their 3rd string RB scored it. They didn’t keep their foot on the gas. Had they done so they probably couldn’t scored 2-3 more times.
  13. Don’t go there. Like Kenny Hawkins said on the Friday Night Rival broadcast, you cannot tell your 2nd and 3rd string players to not score once they finally get a chance to go in. Those guys show up in the heat, rain, whatever just like the starters and work just as hard. When they get a chance to get into a game and play you let them play. You don’t tell them “hey, don’t try to score” just because your opponent is awful. Not fair to those kids. Science Hill continued to run the ball with the running clock. It’s not their fault West Ridge couldn’t even stop their backups. The Hilltoppers had most of their backups in with 4-5 min min left in the 3rd qtr.
  14. Not sure what happened to Crockett but they looked awful vs the Trojans. If they can’t turn it around real quick they’re going to get hammered next week at J. Fred.
  15. I wouldn’t say that. DB is the best team three games into the season but there’s still a lot of ball to play.
  16. I know West Ridge fans are probably going to say they’ve got a young team. And they do. They do have a young team. But so does Science Hill. West Ridge simply does not have the speed that Science Hill has. The Hilltoppers ran wild tonight and West Ridge just couldn’t stop it.
  17. Speed kills. Science Hill leads 42-7 with 5 to go in the 3rd. I thought the Hilltoppers would get the W but didn’t see this coming. West Ridge has no answer tonight for Science Hill run game.
  18. This one is over barring a miracle for the Wolves. Science Hill leads in the 3rd 35-7.
  19. 99 yrd kick return to start the second half for the Hilltoppers. Looking like too much speed for the Wolves to handle.
  20. Both teams with some costly penalties and turnovers in the first half. The Chester kid from Science Hill literally dragging the West Ridge defender at least 10 yrds into the end zone to score a TD was awesome...and hilarious. Hilltoppers up 21-7 at the half
  21. Johnson City has two middle schools now, Indian Trail and Liberty Bell. From what I’ve been told, Liberty Bell has a pretty good team every year. I actually watched them play Greeneville Middle a few weeks back and Liberty Bell won 38-18. Indian Trail has a football team for the first time. They’ve only played a few games so far but I don’t think they’ve won yet. For those unfamiliar with Johnson City, until this school year they had 7 elementary schools feeding into one intermediate school (5th and 6th grade) and one middle school (7th and 8th grade). These kids all then go to Science Hill for high school. The school system has become extremely overcrowded, especially in the last few years. It’s so overcrowded they can’t even allow kids willing to pay tuition who live out of the district in. There’s no room and it gets worse every year. The elementary age kids play in a program called Junior Toppers. I have friends whose kids play. They seem to do well. There are a lot of kids and the coaches appear to do a good job. I’m not quite sure what happens once these kids get to high school. Like you said, I do know there are a ton of athletic kids roaming the halls at Science Hill who don’t play football. I’ve heard some things, politics coming into play etc but I have no idea if any of it is true.
  22. J Fred is a great stadium but I’ve got to agree with blazer. The facility as a whole is better at West Ridge imo
  23. I think it’ll be a close game. Both teams are a lot alike this year. They both lost a lot to graduation. They’ve been heavily penalized so far, making a lot of silly mistakes in their first two games. I don’t think either team trusts their QB to throw it. It’s obvious they are going to run the ball as much as possible. Science Hill probably has the edge there with Dukes and Chester. The Hilltoppers also get the edge (but not by much) on defense.
  24. Agree with this. They’ve got a great facility. I thought Boone would get the W last night but was surprised by the score. They can make a deep run this year if they stay healthy. Science Hill/West Ridge game next week will be interesting. They’re a lot alike this year. Science Hill lost a ton last year due to graduation, as did West Ridge. Neither team can throw the ball. They’re both going to try and win running it. They both rack up penalties and make stupid mistakes. With all that said, I give the edge to the Hilltoppers next week. They’ve got a better run game and I also think their defense is better (not by much).
