Really impressed with the job Higgins is doing right now at Science Hill. That’s a young team who had an awful season last year. He’s really turned them around in Year 2. He seems like a good guy and his players really seem to like him.

This board was littered with DB fans last year and the year before, and for good reason. They’ve all but totally disappeared this season. Not going to put it all on the coach but when you watch them play something seems off. His players do not seem to be enjoying playing for him for whatever reason.

Science Hill isn’t losing kids to UH. They’re losing them to Providence Academy.

Wouldn’t be so sure about SH once Carter is no longer there. The AD at SH has proven he’ll do what he likes. He did it with the hire of the boys basketball coach and again with the new cross country coach. He’s made it pretty clear lately he’ll hire who he wants regardless of what the community or those “in house” want.

Agree with you. For some reason I think SH AD might be from Elizabethton. Makes you wonder...

Fastest kid on SH team didn’t even play last night. He’s their best WR and apparently got hurt Wednesday in practice. He’s got offers from Big 10 schools for track.

This is pretty much the same thing I saw. For a school as large as D-B and to have the athletes they have, they look slow on offense and defense. Their RB looked especially slow. Even the ESPN Tri-Cities guys made a few comments about it. SH dominated on both sides of the ball for pretty much the entire game. The Indians don’t seem to have much of anything on offense. SH should’ve and probably could’ve run the ball all night if they’d wanted to. The Indians couldn’t stop Emile or Necessary. I’m really impressed with Emile. He’s gotten better as the season has gone on. Taylor had has worst game by far last night. He wasn’t playing well. Carter and co obviously noticed it and let Necessary and Emile take over at the end.

Thanks. I just saw him shaking hands in street clothes on the field. What kind of injury? Definitely going to need him back ASAP

Jefferson County is not part of the Tri-Cities. The Tri-Cities consist of Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol. I think SH wins this one by 10-14 pts.

Yes. After the Maryville game they made him the starter. Offense has been clicking ever since and the team just looks a lot better since he took over. His name is Spencer Taylor and I believe he’s a junior.

Final Hilltoppers-56 Governors-28 Looks like SH has decided to move on from the Swartz kid (who was the starter all of last season and the first 3 games of this season) at QB and has made #16 their new starter....

Good bounce back win for the Toppers. Did not realize the Toppers starting center was out for last nights game and they went with a freshman making his first varsity start.

SH looked pretty good in the jamboree vs Crockett. They won 34-0. QB looks a lot better this year.

Been out of the country and just now catching up. Don’t know if true or not but I heard SH was without several starters due to illness vs Unicoi County. Greeneville is a really good team. No shame in losing that one. SH has run through their district and just won their 5th consecutive district championship today and their 12th under Coach Ryan Edwards.

Ranked #25 in the Nation now.

Coach Ryan Edwards has built a juggernaut over in Johnson City. 2021 State Champions, 2022 District and Conference Champions, currently 19-1 in 2023 and ranked #1 in 4A. And Johnson City’s middle school won the Middle School Baseball State Championship last year. Very impressed with the programs (middle and high school) they’re building over there.

Science Hill. Top ranked team in 4A in the state. I believe they have one loss on the season (to a team from VA). Won the State Championship in 2021. They’ll definitely be one of the favorites to win it all again this year. Their middle school team won the Middle School State Championship last year. An absolute powerhouse program they’re building in Johnson City.

DB had a good showing despite the absence of Gillespie. He made a poor decision that probably cost his team today. They advance today if he plays. I’m not sure they repeat as champs, as both Independence and Hillsboro look like better teams. Who do the Indians lose to graduation besides Gillespie, Oliver and Stump? They’ve got young talent and good coaching but those 3 are big losses.

I’ll be surprised if the school board and administration agree to let him play. He’s already been given a second chance. I don’t see them giving him another. It’s unfortunate. Biggest game of the season 4 days away and he makes a bad decision that may cost his team another championship. Gotta be smarter than that.

Getting caught for a second time is probably going to be the big issue here.
