Actually, East Hickman has had a couple of very good coaches in the past. Frank King and Matt Jones. Both were in tough situations, but both are/were very good coaches. I think King actually won a playoff game and beat Hickman a couple of times.

I know of a very good 2 time head coach with multiple State championship appearances who didn't even get a sniff. He is even working in Metro as we speak.

Why Yes, yes I did. I even said it out loud. When the culture of a program is as bad as it has been at East Hickman, then the culture needs to be fixed. Get the kids out and wins will probably follow, in due time. Not right away. Notice I did not say the "new coach" should not worry about wins. Coaches always worry about wins. That is a given. People in Lyles, Wrigley, Bon Aqua & the occasional kid from Santa Fe that may cross the border need to worry about their child being in a good culture.

Which is exactly why I said I would be concerned as the interim moving forward. You said: Good man, passionate about the TEAM. That is usually what administrators look for in a coach. The last thing EH people should look for right now are wins. The last 6-7 years for East Hickman have been brutal. I keep hearing stories of great kids walking the hallway not wanting to play. They need to hire someone who can fix the culture and get kids out of the hallway and get administration on their side and share the same vision.

Considering the fact that East Hickman has been open since Oct 27, or 112 days ago, and the 1st job open of the off-season, I am starting to believe as well no one wants the job. They apparently have an interim coach on staff that has been running the program since that time. If I was that guy, I would have some questions for sure as to why he is not the coach moving forward. We have also heard that maybe 3 guys have been offered and accepted the job recently. This is so Hickman Countyish. Never a dull moment.

From what I have been hearing, today is the big day.

I thought it was 2 people claiming they have been offered the job and accepted. News about the 3rd is new to me.

It seems that everyone has forgotten the fact that Waverly loses 3 Mr. Football finalists/winners. There are not anymore like them in Humphreys County. Waverly could outscore people with those 3 kids. It does not take a rocket scientist to see it will not be the same.

Small town - large church. Kind of hard not to go to same church, for those of the faith.

Valid Point. But, I would assume he chose DCA because his Elementary kids go there and their wasn't a Metro HC job open at the time of his decision.

I think John Overton should take a hard look at Brian Beaubien. He is already in the MNPS system and he won at Kenwood and was a regular playoff participant. Not sure if he even applied. If not, moot point.

LOL. Most people in the area of Houston County, Stewart County, Dickson County & the Southwest part of Montgomery County knows exactly what wardog is saying. There is a reason Clark is at Northeast as an assistant Coach these days. But, apparently the man is a pretty good coach.

Let me make it clear for you, respectfully, No way Waverly is as good without the 3 headed monster. No way to replace 3 Mr. Football candidates at the 2A level and be as good. What everyone should focus on is what does Waverly have following them up? What level are the 8th graders coming over? 7th graders? Does McCloud from the Middle School have a chance at this job?
