  1. To answer that question you have to look at Powell's record before and after Ellison. Give him a chance to succeed and if he doesn't you have a qualified up and coming coach already on staff to promote. As it turned out Ellison had a better than expected season and said coach was also promoted within the program to a coordinator. (He had already been a coordinator on a multi-state championship team) Now...this is all the talk I hear at breakfast....I just type what I've heard.
  2. Fellas I'm here to tell you that the new head man was hired as an assistant last season....he just had to wait his time. Well....now's the time.
  3. In 2012 Fulton played poorly in 2 preseason games...then 3 years in a row happened. That was my first year back. So preseason scrimmages don't mean a thing. Good luck to both teams. If I could I'd go but with my health it's impossible.
  4. Not to jump into the fight but I know now that AC has 4 or 5 big weapons on offense. I said this very same thing to a man close to the AC program just Saturday and here is his response. Yes, AC had trouble in that preseason scrimmage...however...their top 2 receivers who now have close if not over 1,000 yds receiving and 19 tds a piece did not play in that scrimmage. Also #18 who is also a playmaker was not full speed and was limited. So a lot of offense was missing that day and it showed. So Tad if you want to go on record saying that YOUR mediocre Falcons...and yes...this year and the past 3 they HAVE been mediocre....handled that team then go for it. The rest of us are excited about this match up and I happen to think that it could go either way. I won't be surprised if Greeneville wins...and I won't be surprised if AC wins. Going back to last years scores and a preseason scrimmage is just sad. Both teams body of work during the season where it counts is most important. Have a great Basketball season Tad and tell Jody Larry says go win another title.
  5. This will be my last post on this thread. People come on here to discuss high school sports. Coming on these threads to bash teams, players, coaches and now even saying something as childish as asking me about my SS check?!? Are you kidding? Based on historical posts I'm sure these guys will even have something childish to say about this post too. I bet you guys even talk and cut up during the national anthem..heck you probably even sit during it. You happen to be talking to someone who volunteered his life to ensure you continue to have the right to be a grown child. Good day folks! ...and from here on out....GO MAVS!
  6. If I weren't in the condition I'm in I'd be at this game when it happens. Not gonna pull for either team but I think this AC team is for real. They may or may not beat the Devils but it won't be a mercy rule game. On another note....it's odd to me that Greeneville fans and CC fans are all over AC's thread posting for the sole purpose of downing their program. There is an old saying, "Winners focus on winning, Losers focus on winners.". Maybe they should stick to their own threads. Just my thoughts. I'm just Larry and I was happy to eat breakfast this morning with my friends and talk a little high school football.
  7. You must be insane to immediately think I was fired. I'm a retired educator. I had a fulfilling career educating young minds and molding young men and women. I was in education for 33 years and served as AD twice once from 1992-1997 and 2002-2005. I fear that I'm conversing with uneducated minds at this very moment. Again, good luck to the Devils....and the Mavs....nice talking to you young people. Have a good evening.
  8. Oh and he doesn't know it but I registered the AC Quarterback too.
  9. http://www.usarmyallamericanbowl.com/combine-registration/ Fill this out...you can go to the Army All-American Combine. I just registered myself. lol
  10. Invited to play in the Army All-American game and "Invited to the combine" are two completely different things. As a former athletic director myself, to be invited to the combine you must fill out an application. Don't get me wrong, that is a great honor, but not the same as being invited to play. I believe upwards of 7 to 800 kids are selected to come to the combine. Congrats to those selected. I'm looking forward to this possible matchup.
  11. Like I said before.....this Greeneville talk sounds just like it did back in 2012 and 13 when you guys came off back to back championships. I remember hearing the same talk about Fulton's easy schedule. All I'm saying is that I would be too sure of myself just because you beat a young team the past 2 seasons. And not to mention the fact that you beat them last year without their star QB Martin. Who knows though...you might just be right....but I have a feeling eggs are being counted before they are hatched. I'd say AC is focusing on this week. I'm told they should handle Sequoyah pretty easy. But who knows?..None of us really...that's why there are playoffs! Good luck to both teams....I'm really hoping that you guys meet and AC takes care of Eliz. and Greenville does't have a hic-up game out of nowhere. I really think it'll be a hard fought win whoever comes out on top.
  12. East Ridge is 6-3, Chatt Central is 6-3 and Sequoyah is 5-4. Not sure what you were meaning here. Maybe I don't understand.
  13. This very website has GV #1 and AC #6 strength of schedule. So maybe we are looking at different sources. Either way. Good luck. https://www.coacht.com/tennessee/rankings/sos.cfm?sportid=1
  14. I have no dog in this fight....but Greeneville's opponents win/loss is 28-27....including an 0-8 team. Not exactly world beaters. Now they have played known powerhouses of the past and did well at that...but if they meet then thats the only game that will matter. Give credit where credit is due....i remember just a few years ago yall said the same thing to thise Fulton teams about not playing a hard schedule and you were embarrassed 2 years in a row. Now AC isnt thise Fulton teams BUT yall also embarrased them a couple years before their run and you had this same self confidence. I guess we will know more in a month or so. Ive not kept up with much this year but i have followed the Falcons and the Bobcats and ive checked in on this Mav team especially after they were on the news a few weeks back honoring the flag. But who knows....im just Larry. Yall have no need to reply to me....i just gave my opinion. Good luck to both undefeated teams.
  15. I heard this morning AE's QB was injured....but then was told he wasn't....anyone know?
  16. A little bit off subject....but who are the Chattanooga teams in 4A that are going to be a threat of whatever team from the east meets them in the playoffs?
  17. Funny I ran across this thread actually....I ran into a former coach at Fulton today while getting a bite to eat and he actually coaches there at Anderson County now. I believe he said it's his first year there after spending the last several years with the Falcons. He was telling me that he is a graphic artist and he actually was the one that designed their helmets (along with many other things for the Mavericks). He also showed me some of his other work not only from AC but other teams as well. He's a pretty talented guy! Stuff like what he does seems to be in high demand for this generation of kids! Lot's of neat looking photos of athletes! Kids love that! Anyways...it's amazing how fate works! Anyways, I'm Larry and I just report what I hear at breakfast in the morning.
  18. I have spoken to several people that have told me that even though this Fulton team is down depth wise, they are highly motivated. The same folks also state that when things are going well they are unstoppable but the first sign of trouble they shut down. I would like to see Fulton back in Cookeville but at the same time I would like to see Powell be a force in this area again. I'm conflicted on this one! But I will give a prediction...Fulton 46 Powell 34. Now, this is what will probably happen...but if Powell comes out strong....Powell 17 Fulton 13. Heck I don't know! I'm just Larry.
  19. I saw the Mavericks from my hotel at Tennova..I'll be honest...they are a little suspect on defense but they scored easily on the team's they faced including Fulton. I've followed the falcons these past few years since retirement...and we all know what they've done. The QB for the Mavs looks like the real deal. He didn't seem tall but overall he looked better than the Fulton qb and he's highly ranked in the nation I'm told as far as QBs go. I looked at their schedule and in my opinion at worst they go 8-2 and if they get hot late then Greeneville is the door to Cookeville. Now this was based on 7 on 7. I could be wrong...I'm just Larry and I watch from my hotel room in the hospital. Lol
  20. So I made it breakfast this morning, first time in a month and I hear the Carter coach is back with Fulton but they lost two coaches at the same time. One being a coordinator and another a position coach, both have been there for 6 plus years. That's tough on a team especially a team that is losing players too ( so I was told). I'm stuck in and out of a hospital room but I'll keep listening in. Strange what's going on for such a prestigious program.
  21. Talked to a man this morning and he had been told Fulton has lost another lineman to transfer. Something about he has moved out west somewhere and now will have to sit out a year possibly. So they have moved more low numbers to high numbers I'm told. With as much skills guys they have with Malone it won't do a bit of good without a line. Hopefully some of these young men will buy into playing line and everything will work out. This guy even said he wouldn't be surprised if Fulton had a losing record this year based on the line. How does this happen to a school that just recently won 3 championships in a row, 6 in 10 years and 2 runner-ups? I'm told the 8th grade team is stacked heavy with 8th graders that the high school needs though. Thoughts?
  22. I had to privilege of seeing a spring practice just the other day over at Fulton. I was very impressed with their skill players especially #1 the QB. He looks better and better every time I see him. #4 looks really good too and someone said he is only going to be a 10th grader. Looks like they have changed some players positions too. I saw some 30 and 40 numbers down with the lineman so maybe they will be alright there after all. I don't get on here much anymore due to my health but since I was at Tennova the other day I got to watch. Anyone else have any thoughts?
  23. Talked with a man that says he helps out the team with water and equipment and what not. Anyways he said at Fulton basketball games everyone gives the kid a hard time about all the talk of transferring to Alcoa. He said during the last home game he asked him flat out if he was going and he said, "Why would I still be working out with Fulton if I was going to Alcoa?" Anyways...who knows. Same man said that there has been some lineman come out to workout with the team but they don't seem to have that group of leaders yet to step up. Maybe this is the few years they have to weed out the few to make the stars shine again later.
  24. Good Morning! I've been gone a while taking care of some medical issues...just checking in. So how are the Falcons and the Bobcats going to turn out this year in everyone's opinion. I missed breakfast again this morning so I have no rumors to dwell on from the area. Last I heard Fulton has drawn a little interest this year from so guys roaming the halls that could have and should have been playing all along. Thoughts?
  25. Well? Don't leave people hanging....who are thes Mckamey train derailers?
