So unofficially officially....Randy McKamey is new Clinton Head Coach. This from a Head Coach in the area (wont name) that said the funding is being pulled over at Grace and Mckamey showed interest in Clinton and they are merely waiting the 2 mandatory weeks to leave the job posted. He was 100%sure of this...so if it is wrong blame him! Haha

I just have to say I have not followed Central like I should since I'm in Fountain City but I truly feel this is a team of destiny. Bring home Gold Bobcats!

I was informed today that they have reached out to Herrell and Mckamey. Both are entertaining the idea however we have already heard what the issue would be with both. $$. I'm told Mckamey is pretty well off and really doesn't need it but why leave Grace? You are able to offer tuition assistance now and this is now their chance to legally build a team from all the Karns, Powell and HV players and get get a championship. If he goes it would have to be an ego thing...thinking he can fix it quickly. I don't know...I'm just praising the Lord I've been healthy this week. Clinton needs a former player like Anderson Co has to take over . If not Herrell or Mckamey...surely there is another former Dragon somewhere coaching. But in the end...it'll probably be someone nobody expected.

I saw the schedule and it begins with an immediate rematch with Central. It's a tough looking schedule. I know them Falcons have a good amount of skill players coming back but the offensive and defensive line I'm told is bare. I know they have a couple that will take the reigns but they need depth. If there are any 8th grade linemen out there and are zoned for Fulton or whatnot this is the time to absolutely go to Fulton with a chance to start as a freshman. I missed the pass 3 championship years and I hear so many stories everyday...I'd kinda like to see it for myself too.

I probably shouldn't but you can ask your head coach yourself...but Fulton made the call to schedule a regular season matchup and they were flat out told no. You will win 4A for the next few years...I hope they work it out to play again. I've been told it was a great rivalry that got started.

I was fortunate to get to go to church this morning. Went with an old friend from Oak Ridge. We got to talking again about football of course and the subject of Clinton came up again. Anyway long story short he said he knew for a fact there is a short list they are "considering", there is a short list of "just in case others don't work out" and a short list of "these are our targets". He said they have received interest from around the area but only a couple of them are former players or have a tie to Clinton. That's not counting anyone currently on staff or Herrell. He also said he was told they "want someone not too young, not too old and has ties to Clinton. So there is a handful that has shown interest...and of them a couple have Clinton ties...but who are they? That he DIDNT know. I have nothing to do with you guys personally but as I've said I just love High School football. I do wonder who that is out there though?

92Dragon...I have read who everyone wants and who everyone feels will be candidates...but who is the "longshots" or "unknowns" that could surprise everyone? Like Tennessee, everyone had a list but we see what happened 3 times in a row. Someone no one expected got the job. Sometimes that's a good thing though.

No Sir...Gentry...when I was a coach and an AD and whatnot the kids called me coach "Gee". I can't get on here much due to my health but since I have come back to the Knox area I like to talk high school football.

In Tennessee a non faculty member or classified employee CAN be a head coach of a major sport if they have served 5 or more years consecutively as an assistant and passed a TSSAA mandated course. It usually happens for a "classified" employees...like a TA or a Technology Coordinator.

Well if I can read between lines...or if I can just plain read....either you are dropping an obvious hint that it is either Randy Mckamey, or his Assistant head coach Brewster. But what do I know...I'm just ole Larry.

My health only let me stay until halftime but I was told a few former and current Clinton coaches and some administrators was on the sidelines at the Fulton/Central game. Just watching? Or just watch a certain coach? Lots of buzz in the stands from that. I'm just saying what I heard.

I just overheard that the Fulton QB Malone is either not playing or is questionable. Is there truth to this? I was told it's because of an injury sustained during school?

I have been a little under the weather lately...I did see that Fulton beat Catholic and Central pulled out a win against Greeneville. I thought since I was able to have my breakfast with the fellas this morning and talk a little football I would put my 2 cents in. I really feel like Central is playing like a team of destiny. Miracle wins (and yes I said miracle wins, ain't nothing wrong with that) seems to always happen to a team of destiny. However, on the other side...Fulton seems like a team of destiny as well. Going 6-4 when they had so much to play for and everyone counting them out and I understand ESPN has been filming some of the goings on over there....Then beating the unanimous favorite to win the title!? That's a team of destiny too! So I won't give a score...instead I'll say this...The winner tomorrow night is your 4A state champions. Sorry to all the teams out west but destiny is destiny.

The Carter defense will make stop stops I think. Their head coach knows a thing or two about that. I don't think it'll be a tough game but I'm saying Greeneville has to earn this one.

I've watched Fulton twice and they are a great team. However from what I understand there is too much going on off the field. (We all know what I'm speaking of). They have state championship talent but sometimes it appears their mind is somewhere else. That's just from the little I've seen and what I've heard. I'd say Fulton wins but it might be close. It depends on which Fulton team shows up.

I have heard a story about Herrell. Something in regards to Kerr taking the job out from under him. He played at Clinton I believe too. Quarterback if I remember correctly. Seems like Clinton is a place that needs hometown guys with a loyalty to that school to be successful. There is a QB coach too I hear a lot about named Colston that played at Clinton. Maybe they should just stock their whole staff with former Dragons. Are there any other former Dragons that are coaches (head or assistant) that are around the knoxville area? What about Grace's McKamey? Didn't he start his career there at Clinton? Back before I left Knoxville I always thought Clinton was a great little town.

I came across this thread by accident but if I read correctly, the HC at Clinton is rumored to go to Union County? If so, who's Clinton have on their radar?

Then play Fulton non-Conference. Make it happen. Do what you can to make Rankin make the call. Then if you win you beat a 5A school. I'm still shocked at the fact you can't read.
