Milan vs Alcoa 3A State Championship
Milanfootballislife replied to BIGPURPLEMACHINE's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
No one, I repeat no one, is whining. The explanation given on this thread regarding the reason for the two point conversion was a false one according to your own coach. Don’t believe me? ASK HIM. I read this misinformation several times without disputing it but this last time calling it a class act move was just too much. He didn’t try to make it look like something it wasn’t. You shouldn’t either. I stated who I was several pages earlier. I also explained my thoughts regarding this game. Nobody is whining or crying just correcting false information. You guys want to run a two point conversion with two minutes left in a shutout championship game? That’s cool. Do you. Just own it. Rankin had no problem owning it for what it was, you shouldn’t either. That’s all I have to say about it. -

He wasn’t whining he asked a legitimate question and the answer he was given doesn’t match the one given on this thread. That’s all. -

When asked the same question by Diffee after the game, Rankin’s exact words to him were “To start the running clock.” -

I’m going to jump on and steer this thread back to the Milan vs Alcoa championship game. I’ve been around on coach T since 2015 but don’t say much. My middle son was a senior on this year’s Milan team. In all honestly, a lot of our kids were star struck just being on the same field as Alcoa in a championship game. A huge chunk of were little boys when Alcoa played Milan in the 2008 & 2009 championship games and several have fathers/uncles that played on the 1998 & 1999 championship teams . Over the course of the week leading up to the championship several parents posted pictures of current players present at those games back in the day remembering those little boys saying back then that one day they would be back playing against Alcoa when they grew up. At the age of 7, my oldest used to sit in class at school and flip his worksheets over writing stories of Milan beating Alcoa. It was a dream to meet them on the field. My dad coached with Coach Tucker and my son followed in his footsteps in coaching the Bulldogs. He was on the sidelines yesterday as an coach. Coaching against Alcoa in the state championship was a dream of his since we took him to those championship games in 2008 & 2009. My senior was at those same games at the ages of 5 and 6. Playing against Alcoa in the state championship himself had been on these kids minds since they picked up footballs for the first time. So for them, yesterday was not just another Alcoa beat down. It was the fulfillment of many childhood dreams. Win or lose they made it to the dance. The road for this senior class hasn’t been easy. They have been through 3 head coaches, 3 OCs, and 3 DCs over the course of their high school careers. They have had coaches get into physical altercations in the middle of games and even have another coach hauled off in a cop car and thrown in jail. Half the town of Milan rooted for their failure since the first snap of the ball this season as an act of loyalty to the prior coach. These same people tried with all their might to get some of players to transfer schools as acts of loyalty to the previous coach and tried to provoke racial divides that were not there between the players. So needless to say, these players had been through heck. For the most part, this group of seniors had played together since they were in the 3rd grade and reaching the championship game together, in spite of all those that tried to tear their team apart this season was something to behold. A shutout in the championship game is a humiliating way to end anyone’s high school career but just getting there was the prize. I’ve never been as proud of taking a shut out defeat in all of my life. Milan is extremely proud of this team that has overcome so much and that silver ball represents so much more than just second place to our town. My third son doesn’t move into high school football for 4 more years, so until then...it’s been real coach t. -

Easley played exactly 2 plays that game. True, our line play was a problem that game. Coach recognized and immediately corrected it. To my knowledge it hasn’t been a problem since. -

Listen, our Milan parents and coaches are out here sending out messages and posting on social media how much they hate it for the Charger players and here you are continuing to be a jerk. Reflects poorly on your program and it just makes you look like a sore loser. Enough already. -

Read the book of comments on the thread genius. More than one person stated it and I guess it’s just a coincidence Covington newspaper was the one and only media willing to tweet unverified info from “multiple sources” in an effort to smear our program in the media. My problem since Monday was the speculation and public smears without any investigative results and the fact that even if we were found to have committed no wrongdoing you were going to dismiss it as corruption and proceed with your smears which is exactly what you have done. Get a hobby. No one owes either of you any explanations. Leave these kids alone. Your level of obsession is disturbing. -

At this point we all know Covington signed their name to the allegations. Most in Milan are familiar with the behavior of Covington’s HC and won’t soon forget how he behaved (as the OC in 2017) when Covington beat Milan by 1 point in OT at Johnnie Hale. When the game ended, rather than going to his players to celebrate, he rushed straight across the field to Milan’s home stands, running back and forth, taunting Milan’s fans like a school age child. However, the question by many has been who fed him the garbage to put in the complaint and helped him write it? Don’t know how much stock to put into it, but the above quoted information (Head Coach who thinks he should be coaching the Bulldogs now) just keeps coming up from a lot of different sources but the name has not been mentioned once in these threads. Either way, it’s over and Covington will get to see our fury on Friday the 13th at Johnnie Hale. Karma will take care of the others involved. The last several years as Covington rose to the top in the west and traveled the road to Cookeville, Milan rallied behind their region rival (despite having their season ended by them more than once) and cheered for their success. It would be nice if Covington could ever at least try to muster some act right when things don’t go their way. This kind of crap is getting old. Meet you on the field Chargers. We’re comin for you now. -

Claims that racial discrimination takes place on our team. That the players of different races are treated unequally. Trying to get members of our team to transfer schools and leave Milan after previous coach left bc of racial reasons. There was so much bull crap said trying to divide these kids that they finally felt they had to all go together to make a statement at school board meeting to put it to rest. Fans of the previous coach that feel he was fired unjustly have been rooting for their failure since the moment they took the field this season. They make no secret of this.
