Folks from there tell me that back in the day from the mid 60's to the end of the 70's Old Woodbury High School was pretty good. Then they went from A to AA and the program just died and really never came back. If you are going to play even A today you better have a Middle School Program and trying to play AAA today without one is well you can see what has happened for a long time.If there was no program then a player could go to another county and play if they were good enough and wanted to.
The folks that live there tell me that is never going to happen. The county will never close any of the 6 K-8 schools no matter the cost of keeping them all open. A middle school would help in so many ways. Maybe they just want the other programs other than basketball to just go away.
Heard the other day that Cannon would not even be close to where they were last year. How can that even be possible got to feel for the kids. Same guy as Head Coach correct?
From the 1940's thru the early 1970's nobody had a easy time much with the Springfield Yellow Jackets Never saw a better game than the 1967 Springfield-Clarksville game played at Springfield that ended in a tie. Anybody else remember that one.
Grundy is just like Cannon as far as football goes. Until both decide a Middle School is what is needed nothing gets done. But do not hold your breath. Nobody wants to change.
Most high schools have their own buses could they not get their own so they could avoid this issue. This would help everyone. Surely the Cannon County School system could do it.
How many seniors do all have coming back next year ? Cannon I am told has 5. That is hard to believe but that is what folks tell me. Goodluck next year.
How many kids played on that team this year and how many were 8th graders and how did they do. A real middle school is what is needed not what they got. Cannon should have a middle school with 35-45 players on it with 3-4 coaches that are or have been teachers and proven coaches. But you are right it is a roundball town and there is nothing wrong with that.
These kids never had the chance that most everyone else in the state has. It is called a program to grow up in and it should start in the 6th grade with a real Middle School. Cannon has many problems football is just one of them. The kids are the ones that have to play and take these lumps. Every dog should have its day when does Cannon get theirs
Good thing if your Cannon you have no trouble finging games. I was told the other day that folks were calling for next year to see if they could schedule THEIR Homecoming Game in Woodbury. Well it will soon be roundball season.
Does DeKalb go ahead since these two are not in the same region in the future and just beat this bunch into the dirt? I was told that Cannon only has about five seniors coming back next season, is that true, and the beat goes on.
