there's plenty that can be done with a head coach. an assistant coach can only hold a player accountable to a certain extent without a head coach. it would be hard for an assistant coach to give out punishment without a head coach in place. if those basketball/baseball kids are skipping workouts without repercussion, then the program is falling behind. matter of fact they are 37 days behind right now. that is a lot time in the weight room you cannot make up. and lifting is not just lifting.

In my eyes, there does need to be a rush to make the right hire. They may have assistant coaches running the weight room right now, but the players do not have a head coach to hold the players accountable. If you have basketball or baseball players missing workouts right now, how much can an "assistant" coach actually do? Not much in my opinion.

It is taking longer than I expected if he is hiring his son. Or somebody from TC for that matter. It seems like it could be another outsider.

Is it unethical for some coaches to apply with the intent of getting paid more at their current employer and with no intent to actually become the head coach at TC? I am sure those guys (if there are any) wanted the list public. Maybe some of the current employers of the applicants push the issue on that.

I truly believe kids dont care as much as you think about their coaches leaving or interviewing elsewhere. Heck Clint himself verbally took the Cumberland job at the end of the '97 or '98 season. In '98 TC won state and '99 made it very far as well (cant remember exactly how far). If not for one key injury, TC would have 3 peated. Then after the '01 season he accepted the Lebanon job before Wesley changed Clint's mind. The '02 team got beat in the semifinals in OT. My point is kids have a short memory. They are not as affected as much as you think. And I know Clint just enough that he would go by the book on releasing applicants names. If it were illegal, he would not have done it. And I believe he could care less what anybody thinks of him or his decision.

What if it is a former/current TC coach with no offensive play calling experience?

I sure wish RTD would do EVERYONE a service and quit posting. Not only do you know very little about football, but you make all of TC look bad. The only time you you sound like you have a clue in what you type is after you listen to Waggoner's post-game interview with the Vidette. If you had the credentials of BCB-MVP, Snowball or Seven, that would be a different story. All those guys have been there and done that. You my friend have not. Keep supporting the players and coaches (even when TC loses) and quit trying to analyze the play calling, then you would be a 100x better poster. I do love your support (when TC wins), but stop with the offense analysis.

Neither of these teams have real playoff experience. This is new territory for both teams. Just not the TC fan base.

I hear their best lineman tore his ACL last week? If so that is be a big deal. Teams at this level usually have very little depth.

Experience? They have never been past the 2nd round just like these TC players. TC has actually played some tough games unlike Watertown. So I would say TC has a little more big game experience just based off this year. Haven't you taken enough beatings from TC over the years to show a little more respect than that?

For you Watertown fans........ Why do you consider this team "so special?" I am sure they are a great bunch kids, but I am talking football wise. What have they done to be considered "special?" You do have a very good team this year, but nothing close to "special." And neither does TC..... How do you truly know you have gotten better when the only competition you have played was TC early in the season? I am just not sure how you can really tell you have gotten better considering your schedule down the stretch. There has to be a measuring stick. Regardless of the score or how bad the refs were in the first meeting, do you think Watertown coaches and players remember how TC physically dominated them in the first meeting since it was so long ago? Yes I know the score does not reflect it and both teams had costly turnovers and so on so on, but TC did psychically dominate the game.

A passing game and leadership is what this TC team lacks. TC has lacked this for several years now. If they had both, or maybe even one, they would have a good shot at a gold ball. But without both, it will be very difficult. Just like Seven said earlier, this TC team is an "Ok" team.
