  1. You seem to draw a lot of assumptions. I never once said anything about intelligence. Where is this coming from? I'm simply telling the others complaining about the length of my posts they can read or move on, not scoff at me. If you think for one second that's a lowbrow comment of any kind, feel free to discontinue posting. I can only type a certain length and can't respond to negative comments about the length of my posts. That's what you're telling me, huh? No offense to the other nominees, but I believe Winn (multi-sport or football) is the best athlete in 1A, and it seems many high-level coaches and recruiters like his athleticism, heart and desire too. I understand you're a Scotts Hill guy. I wish you guys luck this Friday and in your future seasons. Please understand I was just telling the negative pessimists it doesn't make sense to ridicule someone for typing a few sentences. You might've misread my intention.
  2. I apologize you don't like to read. Unfortunately, social media has trained people to have shorter attention spans. Nobody reads books anymore. There have been just as long of posts in this thread. Also, the height thing was just briefly covered and grossly misrepresents the focus of my post. I'll make sure to keep my posts to a few characters from now on, just the way you like it. Wildcat, I've mentioned on here a few times I have watched him play. Thank you for the kind words. I'm also cheering you guys on and good luck!
  3. With all due respect, I highly and humbly beg to differ. On Winn's mid-season highlights, he has longer passes than the other kid . You can watch the two in warm ups and know who has the better arm. That right arm of his has landed him several Division 1 scholarships in two sports. As I said yesterday, it's common sense the longer body and arm can generate more torque and power. This was once on Sports Science, and they also found taller QBs throw faster (since their release point is higher). Secondly, the completion percentage differential puts to rest the accuracy argument. A 17% difference clearly shows something is going on, and we've had a problem dropping passes this year. 27 incompletions in a regular season is an unheard of statistic. That's about as accurate as it gets. And as far as the height thing, that's a little too anecdotal for me. I don't think he's even that tall with cleats on. He was significantly and a lot shorter than Winn last year when standing side by side with him. I wouldn't even guess him to be that tall with how he looks on film in comparison to Winn. I definitely believe his weight based off what I've seen. It wouldn't surprise me if he's still around 220 lbs. I'm just analyzing things based off what I've seen, nothing but respect here. I just think if anybody is 6"2 and has that kind've arm and accuracy (considering they were a four year starter), they'd at least be a one or two star recruit at the very least. I'm a member of many college team forums, and that's something that's impossible to go under the radar. I understand your son plays for WC, and you're very supportive (as you should be). I'm just respectfully trying to see if my suspicions are reasonable in comparison to yours. People have been too sensitive on here lately, lol. I used to be on Coach T a long time ago and forgot my info. Just look up the Dresden vs South Fulton thread from 2003 (I believe that's when it was). That's when I had enough of this site for a while. Competing towns and schools lead to a lot of tension on here, but I try to call things fairly and to avoid that kind've thing that happened in the thread I mentioned. Good luck to you guys and your son the rest of the season, Wildcat.
  4. Ah, I see what's going on here. Warrior, make an account on there to view the other stuff. It's an average, not best. I wasn't referring to the blue line graph to the right. Notice how it doesn't say "best" next to it like the other chart. This is way lower than what VandySports had from a previous showcase, so I instantly knew it was an average or something strange. That was probably his best three years ago.
  5. I didn't bash anybody. I just objectively compared a few athletes, but I was responding to a guy who mocked our injured player, said horrific things to that one guy on here who's in or was in the military and threatened him (insults to his profession), made several bashing comments to our QB, etc. do you see the problem here? I don't know what you have against me, but my response was warranted and very professional as opposed to what it could've been. You must not have seen the other commenters in my defense. Genius, Hevy, and many others have had run-ins with the guy and came to my defense. I'm sorry if I rubbed you or anyone the wrong way, but this guy just won't stop. It was never my intention to say anything negative, unless it was directed at Jtown. I never even post player's names, but this is a thread concerning four selected individuals. The only time I point out individuals is when it concerns awards they're up for.
  6. I just looked up what you were talking about, but that's just labeled "average pitch." They've also got his high and low for the day. Wow, that's neat. As far as the running, Winn is by far faster. Video is a terrible format to judge speed. Did you watch this year's highlights? Even the Wayne County fans have admitted Winn is way faster. This is a common misconception when people watch the NFL combine on tv. It's extremely difficult to take stride into account. You can look faster, but cover less ground. Otherwise, explain how Winn is averaging around 15 yards per carry on roughly 35 carries, whereas Rice has 472 yards on 83 carries (5 yards per carry). Winn even has more rushing yards than Rice, despite the fact Rice has over twice as many carries. That's pretty conclusive. Going into week 7, he was averaging 23 yards per carry, but he's been sacked quite a few times since then. I'm hoping the offensive line is ready for the playoffs. I've got faith they will be. I've watched both play, and Winn's speed is the biggest difference. He ran all over teams as a freshman, and that was against the best teams in 1A and 3A. Rang doesn't seem to like running his QBs often like Hodge did, which makes sense. He's a good half a second faster than Rice. He could return kicks and punts, but no QB should do that. I know he's done it once this season on a kickoff return. Rice is a pro-style QB; Winn is a dual-threat QB/ athlete. The only thing I've had a hard time gauging is Rice's size. I'd put him at 6"0 (just can't see the 6"2 thing), but you can tell he has spent some time in the weight room! Based off just speculation, I'd say he's easily 220 lbs. You don't see many QBs in high school above the 205 or 210 mark. That's good.
  7. He did well against UC this year, but we hardly threw the ball. That was frustrating. UC had five guys in the box for the majority of the game with that dime package, so I understand. He did good passing when he got to throw, but also had several big runs. He only threw the ball nine times that game for 166 yards. Yates will make you pay if you worry about the pass. I'll never forget what he did to UC as a Freshman. That's the only thing that kept Dresden in that game. His junior year he was getting hit every play, but he still had around 250 passing yards, just had the turnovers. That's another thing worth noting. Yates had 1296 rushing yards on 99 carries, whereas Wayne County's leading rusher had 28 carries for 269 yards. WC seems like they have more of an air raid offense and don't have a runningback that cuts into their stats. Winn's numbers are real impressive when you consider the amount of rushing Dresden does and vice versa. This is a balanced 50/50 offense.
  8. Again, it was one poster who hasn't even been to a game this year. That's not our "fanbase." This kid's dad even got on the T and cleared the air. He couldn't have played any less than what he did. Rice already had 20 quarters under his belt midway though the season. I don't believe WC runs the score up on people, but they've played more in the second half than Dresden has. Rightfully so, they should have played more in the second half than Dresden. You guys had competitive games with Scotts Hill, Riverside, Huntingdon, etc. They pull Winn out of the game way before anybody.
  9. Only playing 8 regular season games and 20 quarters hurts his chances, but there's a 17% differential in passing, and the rushing difference is ridiculous. One has 83 carries and averages 5 yards a carry, while the other has had around 35 carries and around 15 yards per carry with more overall rushing yards. I don't think voters will give it to him two years in a row. If they're going off who did more with the ball when he had it and don't care if someone wins once again, Winn will win again easily. Again, only one West TN guy has won it two years in a row.
  10. Dear gosh, you catch on slow. My point is if Winn had truly played in the second half of all these games, he'd have more than 115 passing attempts. Rice has played way more than him, hence the discrepancy of attempts (171). You came back with some TD rhetoric, which is completely irrelevant to this particular area of discussion. You seriously just argued against yourself. Again, Dresden had a six game stretch where they didn't play past halftime. I don't know what else to tell you. You seem incapable of comprehending anything at this point.
  11. Wildcat, I apologize if you felt like I was bashing anybody. I was just comparing, but I'm tired of this Jtown joker making these non-innocuous and unsubtle pokes at our QB. He does it all the time, and I just had to say something. Again, it was never my intention to bash anybody, and I apologize if you interpreted my post that way. To be completely honest, I can't stand Jtown. He's bashed our QB all year and even was rude and told a retired military vet he "deserved to have his a## whooped" in one thread. He doesn't have any manners, and I imagine he's just a typical redneck that tries to look tough.
  12. That person you're referring to wasn't even at the game. We had to fill him in. Nobody expected Humboldt to play us close. I've done explained the scenario. The fact is Rice has played way more than Winn this year. Winn played only 20 quarters in the regular season. Look, why does Rice have way more attempts? It's because he's played far more, and that's why you're dodging the question. I rest my case.
  13. Moron, he never put on pads at Briarcrest. He had a torn labrum. He made All-West TN as a Freshman on a better team. Several articles have touched on this fact. He didn't get to play football for a year. In fact, he just played baseball at Briarcrest. You seem to know close to nothing. I would pick Winn twice on anyday of the week and three times on Friday, kind've like these college teams. Again, Westview and Lewis County were two of the best teams in 3A in 2013! Look at their schedules that year. I promise that's a whole lot different than Clarksville Academy. You guys don't play a single team that could do anything in 3A.
  14. Well, it's different for the West TN boys. It's only been done once, and that was Preston Overbey.
  15. He's only played past halftime four times this year! He didn't even play in the fourth quarter against UC, didn't play in the second half of last week's playoff game, etc. He's played in the fourth quarter three times this year. He had a six game stretch where he didn't play past halftime. Rice has more playing time than him this year on a weaker schedule. Explain how Rice has almost twice as many passing attempts and over twice as many rushing attempts! Dude, Rice doesn't have half the arm of Winn. I've watched him throw the entire length of the field in warm ups messing around. He's throws a baseball in the 90's! Simple physics tells you a longer arm can generate more power. He's thrown several 65-70 yard bombs this year. Also, I wanna give a sincere 🖕🻠to the injury comment. That was at the start of the fourth, and Dresden was only up by 17 with their backs against their own endzone. Dresden had several injuries on defense, and Humboldt was scoring every drive. It would've been moronic to sub down anybody at that point. He didn't get hurt from being in a "lopsided" game. That was the closest game we've had all year. I literally just debunked every garbage, low-IQ talking point you just made. Who has Rice been offered by? That arm you're talking about should be getting him offers. Winn is also the best punter in the state. What other sports is he good at? It takes intangibles to be a three sport monster like Winn. Yes, you guys have a laughable schedule, and, yet, Rice somehow had 171 passing attempts and 83 rushing attempts. Do you seriously expect me to believe he didn't play in the second half of a lot of games? He played in the second half of Collinwood! Winn has played one full game all year. I'm still laughing at the fact you consider the "best player in the state" to be all this, and he's throwing right at 60% in 1A football, lmao 😂😂😬. Winn had better effiency as a Freshman! He also averaged more yards per game that year than Rice did as a Sophomore and Junior. Jtown, you are special. I knew you'd have a post full of laughs. WC has a decent fan base, but you're the worst person on this website or the internet, for that matter.
  16. That was actually Westwood, and the coaches told the players to keep their helmets on while shaking hands, to get dressed in their casual clothes ASAP and to get on the bus. This was probably a response to the fact they attempted several dirty hits on our players and even made some very serious threats to our players during the game. They were also yelling some ridiculous things to our players during pregame, and one of our coaches even responded (which he shouldn't have done). I doubt you know the majority opinion, Yso. How can you know such a random thing? Ask the 04' team what happened when they went down to Memphis and played G.W. Carver in the playoffs. 😂😆 Lol, I rest my case on that one. Senator, there's no need for the crying. These are just two examples. They're not "unfounded." You just can't handle the truth, get over it. I will say BTW was very professional, but that's more of the exception than the rule. Come on, Senator. Why are you surprised a school in a criminally-infested area would play dirty? Facts don't care about your feelings. I'm just being honest and refuse to apologize for it.
  17. They're all deserving of a semifinalist spot, but Winn beat everybody in practically every category with less attempts last year. It wasn't even a debate last year. They probably won't give it to Winn just to let the other kids have a shot. They're know for that. He also only played 8 regular season games. Those two games were against the weakest teams on Dresden's schedule. They would've been heydays. The millenial generation doesn't need to confuse the word "deserve" anymore than they already do, lol. Let's just have a look at Jalen Hurd.
  18. They've already voted on the winner. We just know who the top 4 in votes were (the semifinalists).
  19. They should. You can't discontinue a rivalry like that, but that's just my opinion. Competition is probably something Adamsville is looking for in a schedule, but they should keep this game, IMO.
  20. CAK always has athletes, smh.
  21. They'll probably give it to him this year. It seems they really try to avoid giving it to kids for consecutive seasons. I understand you're a big time WC guy, but the stats weren't even close last year. Rice had way more attempts (especially in rushing) in all categories and got beat by 400 plus yards in passing, 6 passing TDs, completion percentage by 13%, 100 plus yards in rushing, a few rushing TDs, etc. That's also taking into consideration Dresden has a way harder strength of schedule. This year Winn only played 8 regular season games (missed the two worst teams on his schedule) and played just a tad in the second half the entire season, but still beat Rice by 17% in completion percentage, production per attempt in passing and rushing, rushing yards and had way fewer attempts in all categories again. Winn is averaging around 15 yards per carry on about 34 or so carries. It was 23 yards per carry, until he was sacked numerous times against Trenton, UC and Humboldt. Rice has 83 carries and is averaging 5 yard per carry. I don't know what the selection committee's rule is on this is, but it just seems to me they don't like not giving kids a chance to win over past winners. West TN has only had one back-to-back winner in history. It's not fair to compare them athletically. Winn has multiple division 1 football offers, SEC baseball offers and is easily one of the best basketball players in West TN and getting looks in basketball. Basketball is my favorite sport to watch him in. He does the craziest dunks. I'd like to know all the schools that are doing football and baseball deals with him. They're saying on Volquest UT is wanting him to play both, but Memphis is too and is a strong possibility for him. I know he visited both UT and Memphis back in the spring, and they let him try on the jersey and all that. Since you can only receive financial aid for one sport, we only know what schools have offered him for football only (your standard full ride, one sport scholarships). I know the kid from Greenback has a shot to steal a finalist spot and throwing at 60% in 1A football doesn't help Rice. I think at the very least Winn will be one of the finalists, but I doubt they let him get the award two years in a row. I think he would've won it as a Sophomore had he stayed in Dresden. You could've made a case for him his freshman year, despite the fact he also only played 8 regular season games that year. He was just shy of 1,600 yards and was throwing at 65%. That's also against Westview (who lost at the last second against Lewis County in the 3A quarterfinals; Lewis County was the state runner up in 3A to Alcoa), UC (1A state champs), Peabody (2A playoff team), Mckenzie and Huntingdon (1A playoff team). He also did great in Dresden's lone playoff game in the second round to Humboldt and had 300 plus passing yards against Westview, UC and Huntingdon. I can't find some of his rushing stats from that year, but I know he had over 100 yards against Westview on 8 carries.
  22. Revy, an inner-city Memphis team being late to a football game because they went on a farm field trip before the game sounds about as plausible as Elvis stepping off the team bus on Friday.
