  1. City is going to have to sustain drives to keep their defense off the field to have a chance. Smith is big, Physical and can wear you down over 4 quarters. Last nights game had 21 or 22 drives, that will need to be closer to 13 if the tigers want to have a chance
  2. What a fake. City forces a Monterrey punt then takes the first play 61 yards on a QB keep for a TD. 2-point conversion fail. 6-0 tigers 9 min left in 1st
  3. Fayettevilles Offensive line and defensive line will have to show up this game. Monterey looks on the highlights I’ve seen like they will try and impose their will up front. City’s defense is going to have to finish tackles. Forrest had several runs where they just couldn’t get their backs on the ground. the offense for city goes as the line goes. QB is good not great, backs and receivers have some talent and ability to make plays, but the offensive line inconsistencies really hamper the ability of the play caller to open in up. Much of the reason it’s mostly screens , quick outs, zone reads and jet sweeps is because they don’t think they will have enough time to let routes develop and QB to make reads. They should beat this Monterrey team , but if they don’t have their helmet strapped up, they might be getting ready for basketball season earlier than expected
  4. That same play the clock ran an extra 1.5 to 2 seconds as well. Could play that game all quarter, at the end of the day, Forrest left too much time on the clock and then let Fayetteville throw screens and gain yards at will on the last drive. I’d be way more upset with the pass interference call on the last drive if I was Forrest. Also curious as to how a scrum can happen where multiple players throw punches(or Atleast it looked like that from my angle I haven’t seen the replay) that goes on for 60 seconds plus and it results in 1 personal foul and 1 ejection.
  5. Chapel hill had lots and lots of talent. All night you saw 9th and 10th graders making big time plays for them, definitely a scary team in the next 2-3 years and will likely have atleast 1 legit chance at a gold ball. City tried to give it to them all night. Fake punt, throwing the ball after a turnover on downs putting you in the red zone and throwing a pick, onside kick, personal foul ejections, using a timeout pretty early in the second half. Very concerned with how clean the Forrest backfield was most of the night, city didn’t apply much consistent pressure. They have a chance to be as good or as bad as they want to be, the top 10 in 2A are probably all seperated by less than a touchdown. Buckle up, gonna be a fun next 5 weeks
  6. Cascade can be physical, but I can’t imagine that throttling they took at the hands of Marion county did much for their confidence. I expect ER to have a running clock, possibly even in the first half
  7. That’s a huge stop! And a very good use of a timeout right before
  8. Just be careful, no smoked bologna for opposing coaches
  9. Fayetteville city opened for the 2011-2012 school year the 10 years before that they were about 10 games above 500 and were 5-9 in the playoffs. They had turned into average years before the city opened a high school
  10. I think the program would be in the same state it is in. Hard to win with the talent gap between them and surrounding areas. They do have several young players that are 9th and 10th graders who look like they are going to be pretty good, but I’m not sure they have enough of them to matter. Coaching staff tries hard and cares a lot but is mediocre/average at best, which won’t do much to overcome the talent gap. No winning seasons since 2015, no playoff wins since ‘07.
  11. Not even sure corntown can keep it close. McKenzie by 40
  12. The game would come down to a big play on defense. Blocked punt , interception, 4th down stop in opponent territory. Could very easily see it being an 8-7 or 12-6 type of game. Would rather that be in the 3rd round myself. Fayetteville may be running on fumes by that point though, their playoffs really started last week against cascade
  13. The top 15 in 2A are all relatively in the same stratosphere , could be anyone’s title to win
  14. Ain’t no you or your. I roll with my Fayetteville tigers(have since day 1) just calling it like a see it. Marion is the better team, will win either way, just depends on if it’s close or a laugher. But we can play quality of schedule game all day. And we will also all skip over the fact where you think the Moore county rematch would be better, I’m sure it would be much much worse
  15. You must have missed the part that said beaten. Cascade has played Moore county(and lost) but who have they BEATEN.
  16. Who has cascade beaten that’s better? Only really elite team cascade played is Moore county and… they scored 5 points.
  17. Agreed. Fast start will be their key. They’ve won 2/3 of their games this year in blowout fashion. I think people just need to put that Forrest game to the side. Good teams have off nights, but good teams on off nights still find ways to win games. Forrest also does not have a bad roster and do hang in games because of the talent.
  18. Fayetteville will win, but it may be close if they are looking at the 1st round of the playoffs and not Forrest. If I’m smith county, I’m sweating bullets and hoping Forrest doesn’t pull the upset. They don’t want Fayetteville in round 1
  19. Depends on which marion county shows up. This team is the ultimate dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They SHOULD win by 42, but I think cascades ability to run the ball will shorten the game and keep the score lower. 28-13 Marion county
  20. All the pressure would be on Marion county, not a place I would want to be in. Beat a STRUGGLING Fayetteville team by 7 at home. Also barely beat a Forrest team that is mediocre at best. Marion county better not play with their food come November or they can watch the state title game on NFHS network. Maybe them and East Robertson can have a watch party together
  21. Im not sure East Robertson wants any of Fayetteville, and I’m sure smith county is hoping someone can bounce them before round 3 as well. I’m still not sure how good Lewis county or Mt.pleasant are. Not a lot of separation between #1 and #15. Should make for a fun November
  22. Huntland has been a scrappy team all year, they got blown out by Moore county and played a bad game against eagleville with injuries, but they have been able to hang around and make the game ugly enough to stay in it. They can’t score with corn town, but they can play well enough defensively to make it a game early. Like I said cornersville for sure with the win, but closer than the “experts” think
