  1. LOL....Since we're at it, what about " Worst Coach's Spouse " ? #1 Coach Lowery's wife !! She sits amongst the visiting fans and then gets mouthy when they cheer too loud for their own team...never seen anything like it in my life ! She gets verbally hammered by fans for mouthing off at them, LMAO.
  2. I've witnessed where one team stalls from opening tip, halftime 4-2, 3rd qtr 7-4, and after OVERTIME 17-11. It was the worst crap that I've ever paid money to watch ! The coach said it was the only thing that he could think of. And for the record, the team that I wanted to win used the stall tactic. The fun part of coaching is trying to match wits with the guy on the other sideline, trying to out-smart him. It doesn't take alot of imagination to hold the ball. If you've built a lead and play keep-a-way the last few minutes then it's a change of pace that adds a bit of intrigue because now the other coach has to make his adjustments. To me, there's a big difference in that and holding the ball from the opening tip because you're scared of the other team. To me, game planning is the fun part, thinking of a way to take down Goliath! No one said it was going to be easy. IMO, a shot clock makes for more excitement. It forces one team to dig in on defense to pressure the opponent into a bad shot. Just makes for a better game.
  3. Early candidates for " Coach of the Year " in A, AA, AAA in West Tn ?????
  4. Which West Tn teams have some of the best records in 1A, 2A, and 3A ? How are the districts shaping up ???
  5. College coaches rarely recruit the high school trails anymore. Colleges have recruiting budgets and are only allowed a certain number of visits. Coaches don't want to spend time and money driving or flying out to see 2 or 3 kids at a high school game when they can hit the summer circuit and see hundreds or thousands of kids (depending on the tournament size). If a coach shows up to a high school game, he already has all the information on a particular kid. He's not there "scouting" for talent, he already knows who he wants. You have D1,D1-AA,D2,D3,JUCO, and NAIA coaches attending events like the "Boro" because there's something for everyone at these exposure tournaments. This is how recruiting is done nowadays.
  6. Yeah, I'm also going to be there. Looks like some good match ups.
  7. 1) Jamirah Shutes - Haywood 2) Chelsea Perry - Middleton 3) Christen King - South Gibson 4) Paige Pipkin - Chester County 5) Anna Jones - USJ 6) Justyce White - Gibson County 7) Hailey Hardaway - Bolivar 8) Deja Graves - Westview 9) Chloe Moore - Greenfield 10) Kyla Taylor - Lexington Sleeper: Jordyn Green - Gleason These are the best players that I have seen so far. This list will change as the season goes on.
  8. LOL...I think it's a little too late to stall now ! Looks like Greenback should have stalled the start of the game.
  9. It sounds like your team sucks buddy ! If you can't compete with the larger schools then how about hiring a better coach? This is competition, right? IMO, a 30-35 second clock would be a welcome addition. If your team is so scared or pitiful that the only thing they can do is hold the ball then something is seriously wrong anyways.
  10. Not in all cases. Longevity, philanthropy, having great character are also ways of getting your name on the floor. Lots of victories, but no state titles kind of diminish the overall resume. Not sure who you're talking about, but just my opinion. I'm not trying to offend anyone.
  11. I'm a fan of basketball having classes 1A-6A like football. There's no reason for a true 3A school to be on the floor trying to compete with a true 6A school.
  12. This one went as expected. I also think Haywood takes the rematch
  13. I'll have to go with Mitch Wilkins - Gibson County
  14. Pipkin is nice, but the CC offense is her shooting every time and everyone else rebounding! I'm kinda skeptical about her at the next level b/c she doesn't make her teammates better. Kind of a one man show type player. How will she react to not being the go-to stud on the floor?
  15. Jones is a good floor general, but her size (she's 5'1) will scare off alot of schools. You never know, good leaders are hard to find.
  16. Single A will be fun this year. There are always upsets !! Nothing is guaranteed, even for South Greene.
  17. Bradford did beat-up on Milan !! Although neither team will win district titles, they do match-up well against each other and that makes for exciting games between the two.
  18. Westview will take the district again. 1)Westview 2)SG 3)D'burg 4)Crockett 5)Obion 6)Milan I watched Milan lose to a weak Bradford squad on Saturday night. Milan's post #24 is nice, but outside of her they struggle. The little PG #20 is quick but can only go right. Good teams will shut her down. I've now seen all of these teams and I think D'burg & Crockett will battle it out for third. Just my opinion. What do ya'll think ???
  19. The kid from Munford is Gabby Crawford,6'2 with a solid frame. She's definitely a D1 player.
  20. Just watched Trenton Peabody against Greenfield. Freshman Chloe Moore (GF) is LEGIT !! She scored 22 points and surprisingly out-played Stacie Mayberry (TP) in a 56-46 win for Greenfield. I can't wait to see Shutes (H), Graves (WV), Pipkin (CC), and others this season. Go West Tn !!
  21. Greenfield and Gleason will surprise people. Gleason has a veteran team of players with 4-5 years of varsity experience because they've played since 8th grade. Greenfield will rely on help from 2 of the top freshman in the state in Chloe Moore and Tess Darby, to go along a good group of upperclassmen. These two teams will be fun to watch this season.
