This game should be a lot more competitive than it was last year. McMinn's got some really talented young men in their freshman and sophomore classes. I don't know anything about Central yet, so I'd have to give the edge to the Cherokees....because they have the home-field.

My little brother played in a bball tourney at Cleveland HS last weekend, so I got a chance to see the new turf. Looks beautiful! Hope you guys enjoy it.

Owensby is a great coach. Didn't have much talent to work with this past year, but he had success at Bledsoe before as both a HC and an assistant. He will do fine at Hixson.

Always praising the good Lord for rain, even if it is annoyingly conflicted with baseball. Meigs County is scheduled to play a double-header at Tellico on Tuesday. I've heard Tellico has improved ?????? Haven't looked at any scores though.... either way, should be 2 good games

No worries. I apologize if I sounded offended. Based on scores, I don't think anyone would've expected us to steal a game from GB. We finally brought our bats around. It's amazing how a few hits can give a team some life. I hope we can remain consistent at the plate. It'd be nice to get hot right before the tournament. Don't underestimate GB's pitching staff based on Tuesday's score. Despite the rough outing, the Willis boy is still a great pitcher. Anyone who's ever pitched knows that sometimes things just don't go our way. He's a strong senior leader, and good things are gonna happen for him. Good luck to you guys!

Today's matchup. Meigs County 19 - Greenback 14 Final

Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence pal Obviously Greenback is a freight train that may not be stopped. Anyone who follows baseball closely in Decatur knows that. Hopefully we can wake our bats up and have a few things go our way, so that we can compete with an outstanding team. Gotta love single A baseball!!

I haven't heard a rumor that he isn't playing, but of course, I wouldn't know. I would be really surprised though if he decided not to play.

Greenback will definitely be a force to be reckoned with this season. Lots of young talent, and anytime Roberts is on the mound (or at the plate for that matter), he is dangerous. They gave Meigs all they wanted last year in the district tourney, and I could see them going to the Boro in May if they stay healthy. But I will say hold the phone on them being the best team in the state. Meigs got a BIG dose of Loretto at the state tournament last year and Loretto has EVERYONE back. Scotts Hill also returns most of their starters and they were class A state champs last season, so it will be interesting to see how things play out. I will say though, if GB can translate the same success on the diamond that they've had on the football field the past 4 or 5 years, then many teams should be worried. Outstanding single A athletic program.
