  1. I just read on the Oakridger.com website that Oak Ridge Hall of Fame nominations are being asked for. I have three names from the Class of 1982 that I think deserve heavy consideration Tim Pettis, (name maybe misspelled). I first encountered Kim while playing football for Cedar Hill versus his Woodland team in Third Grade. He ran all over us and did so against all the school teams. He did it again in the all-star game at the end of the season and repeated the same dominance the next year. I met and got to know Kim in Ninth Grade at Jefferson. He was a very friendly kid with a warm smile on his face. A true role model. He dominated the teams JJHS played from his RB position. We played together on the Eagle basketball team and a better teammate you could not ask for. He always played with a smile on his face but never lacked the eye of the tiger. At ORHS, Kim played basketball for three years and was an integral part of the basketball team's success. In football, he was a State Champion in 1979 and 1980 at the RB position. He attended University of Richmond. Several of Kim's family members have also started at ORHS. The next player is Roy Kirk. He also dominated as a youth sports player and developed in too a hard nosed role player. He was the fullback to Kim's running back. Roy was a tenacious rebounder in basketball. Tough is the word to describe Roy. Finally, the class of 1982 had a legacy player on the football team. Bart Brinkman was a smart nasty hard nosed lineman. His athletic ability earned him a football scholarship to Richmond.
  2. Just wondering, which Tennessee county would be able to form the best team from players that live in it? Blount...my pick Davidson,? Shelby? Williamson? Hamilton? Not likely Anderson? Maybe once in a blue moon.
  3. Please, refresh my memory, did we scrimmage Heritage or William Blount in the spring? Any final words on how the passing team did this summer? RWR Don't forget, on Facebook join Tee Higgins Clemson Tiger. It is not a great page but you can follow Tee there.
  4. BUMP...back to the top from this topic. I think some posters may not have been reading the board when it first was posted.
  5. Proud of the two Oak Ridge players on the team. Worried about the fact so many teams we play have players on the squad. Oak Ridge has a real tough schedule. Agree with the comments about it being heavy toward the East.
  6. Oak Ridge does have some really sick fans who seem to enjoy to see us lose. Not exactly my definition of a true fan but people have the right to hate who they say they support. But all and all, we also have some of the best fans around who will praise OR when warranted and disagree when they see fit. I'm more of a cardinal color glasses fan because I don't really know enough about what is going on to be critical of OR. That is why, I usually end all my posts with...RWR!
  7. There has been some, not a lot, of talk on Tweeter between OR players about people saying the team will go 5 - 5. They are not getting upset about it just using it for motivation. If I had to describe the mood of these players, I would say it is a quiet confidence. I am liking how they are saying they wish practice would get here. No big heads or trash talkers just young men on a mission. As always, this is just my opinion.
  8. I knew you or Bounder would get it If I remember correctly we did have a Wildcat pitcher commit there but don't know how things worked. On twitter it seems like a OR baseball player may have been offered a scholarship to UTK recently but I struggle trying to follow tweeter. Since you are limited to a certain number of words the kids have developed a new language to communicate with. D. Middleton, out in Indy, Kansas is easy to follow though. Man, I sure wish he would have played against Ooltewah in the playoffs Tee's junior year. Maybe a State Title cold have been won that season. Who knows/
  9. No, deep down I will always be an Oak Ridge Wildcat fan. My biggest regret in life was telling Coach Hale no when he asked me to play when I was entering my 10th grade year. I thought I was a basketball player. Truth be known, I have been a huge N.C. State fan since 1970. My brother-in-law turned me on to the Wolfpack. I did pull for UT my four years there but prefer the UTC Mocs where I went to Grad School. I will just continue to post here on Tee, Caleb next season at EKU, and the other former Wildcat players at Carson=Newman, Blueridge ect. I am trying to start a Tee Higgins Clemson Tiger Facebook page but I am 54 years old and social media is still a language that I struggle with. When I was a kid we used a stick to draw up plays in the dirt. I trust nobody will mind me posting about Tee/Clemson on here. I am actually the first person to post on a CoachT Message Board back in the 1990's. The Board was for Lawrence County Girls Basketball and they had recently beat our Lady Wildcats for the State Championship. The Board then expanded to include all the teams in Lawrence County's District like Shelbyville. Coach Thompson moved on to AAU Girls Basketball which is where I met him and watched OR players play AAU ball in places like Brentwood, Mt Juliet, and Chattanooga. I stopped being involved in AAU ball and lost touch with Coach Thompson but have continued to use this site to follow prep sports. Back in the day, I was considered a controversial poster because I came off sounding like a know it all. Now, I just post from here Chattanooga knowing there is so much about Oak Ridge High sports I don't know but enjoy finding out about. That is way more information about me so I will hit submit and go to twitter or Facebook. CoachT will always be my home though
  10. Hey GI Joe, were you going to guess the former Wildcat player/Clemson Tiger? I do have a small story about him and his dad. I went to the practice field and sat in the wooden bleachers to watch a scrimmage. Two guys sat beside me and we watched OR have a great scrimmage. A great OR scrimmage does not happen often for many reasons. OR scores another TD and out comes the extra point team ( a huge hint there ) and the guy next to me says," are they always this good?" and the other guy who is a father of a player says, " no, usually they do not have a good team. I got so pissed I left the bleachers and stood the rest of the scrimmage. How in the world could a parent of a Wildcat player say we don't usually have a good team? We may have only 8 State Titles and 1 National Title coming in the 1950's, 1960;s, 1970's, 1980's and 1990's and many State Semifinal appearances but we are hardly, "not a good team."
  11. Facebook, "Clemson Tigers," then scroll down and look for Tee and Amari. RWR!
  12. OMG! I just watched on Facebook Live, Tee and Amari Rodgers participate in their Clemson media photo shoots. They looked soooo good in their Orange uniforms. They took individual pics with and without helmets and then did some shoots jumping up and chest bumping Don't judge me but I have goose bumps on my arms and can barely type. I will try to figure out how to put the video on here, twitter or Facebook. For now, go to the Facebook page, Oak Ridge Silent Auction and bid on some Wildcat items. You have to hurry because once the golf fund raiser is over so is the auction.
  13. LOL, no but I have the okay from wifey for us to go down to Atlanta next season to watch a glass of sweet Tee wash down a Rambling Wreak. So far, I have an orange Tiger Paw hat, a white long sleeve Clemson t-shirt, a purple Clemson t-shirt. an orange National Champs t-shirt with the # 5 and Higgins on the back, a pair of Clemson crew socks and a pair of purple mesh shorts. On the wish list is Clemson PJs and a # 5 Tee Higgins jersey. They only sell five jerseys with name and numbers per year so Tee will have to do really well there to get that honor. I could get a Watson jersey now but it would not be the same. Ok, Oak Ridge fans, name the last Wildcat to play for Clemson? Best of luck RW for Maryville this season.
  14. It is a new football camp for the kids in Oak Ridge. I forget the ages involved but they are full uniforms unlike the camp Gaddis used to run every year. The ad for the camp was put up on Facebook showing a picture of Tee and asking the question who would be the next High School All American from Oak Ridge. There was a short video clip placed on Twitter yesterday showing a young RB running over a defensive player. The kid is a real big fan of Tee's and attended a Clemson football camp this summer. It seems to me that this version of OR youth football camp will be more successful in providing basic football skills and improved interest in youth football than previous camps. I have no news really on Tee at Clemson. He was shown a lot in a video of the freshmen's first week of school. Both Tee and Amari Rodgers (Knox. Catholic and Tee Martin's son ) have impressed the strength and conditioning coaches. The two roommates have also had veteran receivers telling Coaches that they have been impressive in workouts. The coaches are looking forward to being able to coach them when fall practice starts. Oh, I understand why SS and Catswild are keeping their expectations low until after the first game with HVA. Probably the smart thing to do. I am going with my heart and seeing a 8 - 2 or 9 - 1 record. No more keeping it vanilla, these Cats will finally over succeed expectations Lord knows we have not done that in a while. Well, I hope we all get along this season on the Board The team does well. But, that is probably asking too much. OR message boards always seem to get messy
  15. Actually, you make great observations. Now, if you want to meet somebody who is wrong a lot, read my posts. I have screwed up so many predictions I am surprised the other Oak Ridge posters haven't had me banned lol.
  16. OR QB # 1 Johnny Stewart is going to have a super year. He has the experience, skills and loads of talent to pass to. If Graham does get touches as a slot receiver, he will do a lot of damage. Anytime you can get him in open field he's homeward bound. Caleb Martin has worked extremely hard and has tried to follow Tee's example on how to impress college coachs The Eastern Kentucky commitment won't make us forget Tee but he will carve out a solid reputation. I think Oak Ridge will win the Region on the final night of the regular season. I just really believe we have too many young skilled people on offense to be shut out. It sounds weird but Tee set the example for how to be a solid leader and tough football player. The current Wildcats will follow his example to make it deep in the playoffs which we never did with Tee. These same skilled players will bring speed to the defense that will be fun to watch. We will have a swarming defense. Special teams will be play makers and difference makers. The lines? These guys must know everybody is worried about the lines. They have been questioned and called out since week one of last season. How will they respond? I believe they will be ready to shut us up. Now I do have a major concern. The coaches. I love Gaddis and all the coaches but they have got to be able to put all the young players in places where they can shine. This calls for imagination and the ability to make changes during the game. This was what killed us at McMinn County. After every series the linemen would come off the field mad they didn't get the job done, a coach would yell at them and then nothing. The players were frustrated and wanted to succeed but they were not given the coaching to succeed. This year our coaches have got to do a better job. I believe they will. .
  17. Dang dude, they don't like the "m" word. Call them Little People.
  18. The starting coach would be Emory Hale. Sorry Reb fans, but I had to bring Oak Ridge in this LOL.
  19. Please, join the new "Tee Higgins Clemson Tiger" Facebook page. This page is for all fans of Tee, Oak Ridge football, and Clemson football. Stop by and feel free to post your opinions. Also, if you can make changes to the page to make it worthy of Tee.
  20. Good luck today guys. I hope we have some people who will post on how the Wildcats fare. RWR!
  21. We may have but the kicker we used last season appears to be getting ready for this season based on a couple of twitter tweets. Maybe we lost a punter. ...this is why we need more Oak Ridge people posting. I live in Chattanooga so my information is not always accurate. I just keep telling myself to be patient, the regular posters will be on here soon.
  22. Finally, Caleb Martin # 4 has decided where to attend college next season...BOOM, Fire the Cannon, he is off to Eastern Kentucky University. I was really wanting UTC to get him but I am happy for him. I am looking for big things for # 4 this season. I believe he is ready to step out of Tee's shadow and take advantage of a years growth from Johnny Stewart. Guys you may think I am crazy but I am really starting to get a good feeling about 2017. I recently read some quotes from our K / P Carson McGhee and he says the team is working hard toward a State Title. Based on his progress last season, I look for him to be offered a rare kicking / punting scholarship. RWR
