The biggest reason I can think of is dollars. a 5A school has a much larger student base thus a larger Alumni. Alumni dollars are what brings the talent. By talent I mean the coaches. Winning coaches don't work at the 1 A level because the 1A can't afford them. Then again Scott Frost might be available soon! It's all about dollars. Bigger, better programs attract the talented athletes especially those who are trying to go pro.

Peabody being the exception to this?

Not bad. I could see Henry County going either way (6/7or8). The TSSAA would probably need to swap the numbers on 6 and 7.

I think williamson and davidson together. Guess it will depend if any of those play up also.

    So you are saying:

seven teams south of Williamson County

six teams in Williamson and Davidson

five teams (Dickson, Springfield, Beech, Hendersonville and Portland)

Odd number of teams in two regions, I don't like that.

six teams south of Williamson County (move Springhill north)

six teams in Williamson and Davidson (move Hunter's Lane to the north region and pickup Springhill from the south)

six teams (Dickson, Springfield, Beech, Hendersonville, Portland and Hunter's Lane)

Don't see an 8 team a 6 team and a 4 team mid TN. Numbers will be closer.

You may be right. The TSSAA likes even numbers because it makes it easier for schools to fill schedules. How would you reshuffle them?

I’m talking about historical programs and yes Huntingdon has a very rich history

No doubt they have a good history. Historically speaking they shouldn't bump anyone down from this list of FIVE. A strong case could be made for them to be in a top 10 though. My criteria would be gold and silver trophies. Yours may be something else. We can agree to disagree if that is the case.

  7. So lets be honest the formula is very simple to compete year in year out(3rd round or higher CONSISTENTLY).

    1. Community has ATHLETES or recruits them (we all know it happens).

2.Community supports football. (positively pressures their kids to play, has high expectations and pays quality coaches.)

3.School supports football.  HIRES multiple QUALITY coaches and PAYS them better than surrounding schools so they stay and build a PROGRAM.

The stronger the three of the above are the better the program.

Why the hostility? I mean yes we do have a storied, proud, rich history here. What do you have?

Let me think....They have had a few district championships in that round ball sport....Lots of 1st round losses in regionals in that sport...A big bank that looks out of place...yeah I think that's it.

Greenfield's easy schedule so far will hurt them here in this game and next week against WC. I say LC 42 Greenfield 28

I will probably need a shower after taking up for Greenfield but here goes.  Lake Counties ONLY non region game is Westview which was a slaughter.  Greenfield has played three non region opponents Scott's Hill, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, and Fulton County.  Score from wins over common district opponents LC +58 GHS+48.  This game will not be a blow out.  It will be relatively close and could go either way.

Here is my shot at placing the 2A schools based on how @Indian had them broken up. This puts 23 schools in the East and 26 in the West.

Cumberland Gap could go 1 or 2 but if they go 2, then Reg 1 only has 4 teams.

Could Jackson Co. go Reg 2 with Monterey and York? maybe.

    Moved Forrest to Reg 4.

If you look at the past, TSSAA usually tries to make as many even number regions as possible.  Helps all teams with scheduling.

The original enrollment numbers that were posted on the TSSAA Website early Friday is on the first page of this thread.  It is a copy and paste from their website.

McKenzie's enrollment was first posted as 337 now its posted as 335.

All the other discrepancies I found were Memphis & Memphis area schools.

I could have overlooked some outside the Memphis area.

As I've stated before the TSSAA is cross referencing all enrollment numbers.

Does anyone know why there are discrepancies in the enrollment numbers that were originally posted on the TSSAA website report and what the TSSAA posted late Friday afternoon?

I found around 39 discrepancies all Memphis area schools and McKenzie.

Mckenzie.... interesting.  I assume they under reported?  These two sites are two years old and show enrollment by grade.  Totals for current 9-12 comes to 363.  Lost 30 kids from for grades in two years.  If true makes one wonder what is going on to make them want to leave.

Who has done that?   I haven't heard of such a thing.  If they are no the in a brick and mortar building they count on their schools enrollment.

Home school students are little different but they do not count.

They should still be part of their schools. Same as a new building.

I am sure that there are others.

    Lincoln Central Academy (Lincoln County)

    Polk Innovative Learning Academy

    Henry County Virtual Academy

*Disclaimer not sure which ones if any "co-op" with another school.

How would Covid affect the numbers?  Virtual students should be counted as enrollment.

Some school systems have created "new" schools to "house" their virtual students.  These will take numbers away from the parent school.
