  1. Saw them this past Friday against Eagleville. They dressed 23 if I counted right. Don't know if that's due to some out with COVID or injuries, or that's just all they have.
  2. We don't get that many from Central. This past year we had 6.
  3. Getting them in every sport? Central Magnet has their own basketball and baseball team so those kids play for Central. It's true that Central kids play football at Eagleville as there is no Central football team.
  4. I would have liked to see us play them this year. Would have probably been a good game.
  5. Y’all playing Rockvale next year?
  6. So hard to predict without knowing what other teams will have, but I don’t see us being worse than 2019. 1 might be a bit of a stretch, but I guess you never say never. Wonder how many LC is graduating?
  7. Eagleville should be about what they were in ‘19. Graduating 9 seniors, but only 4 were starters, but they played both ways. Losing a lineman, a wide receiver/safety, a cornerback/running back, and a def end/running back. Will have some freshmen from the undefeated middle school team move up, but not sure if they’ll be contributors yet. What you saw in ‘19 is about what you can expect for ‘20.
  8. Congrats to the Panthers on a good run. Most 5-5 teams don’t make it past round one.
  9. Don’t have a dog in the fight, but it’d be cool to see Riverside get the win. Good luck to the Panthers.
  10. Current enrollment is 403, so it looks like we'll stay in 2A as long as the cut off for 1A stays at 375.
  11. Didn’t realize Houston Co beat them, and by 17, at Riverside. That’s not a blowout, but it’s not a squeaker either. Just shows the randomness that high school football can be.
  12. Obviously Riverside has some momentum going, and their 5-5 regular season record is not indicative of what they are capable of, but they better keep their foot on the gas cause Forrest is the real deal. I think Forrest gets the win, but it won’t be like the last 2 weeks.
  13. The future is bright for the Eagles. They will only be losing 4 starters, and there’s 8th graders moving up from the undefeated middle school team. This was a pretty major rebuild year and to go 7-3 in the regular season and to week 2 of the playoffs is better than what many probably expected, especially when you consider the amount of injuries we had. I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into the season, but when we ground out an OT win against a good Huntland team in week one, it became apparent that we could be competitive. There’s no reason not to think they won’t be just as competitive in 2020.
  14. Congrats to Forrest. We hung in there for a half, but they were just too much for us to handle. Good luck with the Panthers next week.
  15. Looking at the bracket, Eagleville or Forrest will host. Doesn't matter who wins the Riverside / Waverly game. They swap the host in the top and bottom of the bracket every year. Only the 1st and 2nd rounds host are determined by region standings. If this were 2020, Riverside or Waverly would be host regardless of who won Eagleville / Forrest game.
  16. Not sure exactly, but we can up our chances if we keep mistakes and penalties to a minimum. That hasn’t been a real issue this year, so hopefully that continues this week.
  17. We’ve had a few here and there be out, but I don’t remember which specific players were out for which games. Looking forward to the chance to pull an upset this Friday.
  18. Wow...Congrats to Riverside. Wife was reading scores to me as we were driving back from Houston and I said what?!
  19. They were a good, solid team. Quite a scrappy bunch. They scored early, no score from either in the 2nd, we scored opening drive of the third, went for 2 and got it. The rest of the game was a dog fight and we intercepted their pass close to the end zone on 4th down and like 20 I think it was with a little over a minute left. We took a knee and the clock ran out. Eagles win!
  20. Here’s my 2 cents on what happened. Anyone else who was there can disagree but here’s my take. First, Mt Pleasant has a distinct size advantage on the line. Second, we only played 5 linemen that night both ways, so by the 4th they were wore slap out. 14 of their 24 pts came in the last 8 minutes when they would get 4-5-6 yards every carry. They ran it down our throats there at the end. Maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference, but had some 2nd stringers been subbed in here and there during the midpoint of the game, maybe those 5 might not have been so gassed and could have been able to stop em. Very even game for 3 quarters.
  21. The 2nd vs 3rd games are the hardest to predict. Makes it even harder when you know nothing about the opponent other than the 9-1 record. If we play the fundamentally sound ball that got us here, we should be fine. Our receiver turned QB has done a pretty good job, so I’m not concerned with that. Looking forward to it, should be a good one, but can we order some heat? Gonna be COLD this Friday night!
