Its funny. People (many Tennesseans from East grand division and particularly Northeast) forget their history. Specifically, Johnson County was very anti-secession. Like 90% of the county voted against leaving the union during the civil war. Many Johnson countians are descendants of independent pioneers and mountain men. Col Butler (he built beautiful Butler Mansion in town) was commander of a UNION tennessee force. Its very sad to me that race came up. There are also prominent African-American families in mtn city, and several boys from the familes played on good teams in late 1970s and early 80s. sorry for the rant.
