Anyone make the trip to Knox central that can comment on how the scrimmage went?

I know one thing. Week 1 they will come out flat and probably get beat by Betsy. It’s almost guaranteed. No matter how good of a team Science Hill has they will not play hard against the Cyclones

I don’t put a lot of weight in these preseason nonsense lists, but talking with people around the program there is a lot of optimism about this season. Practices and workouts have been going very well. All of that is just hearsay. I heard our scrimmage schedule is the same as last year so we will see next Friday against Knox central

Honestly thinking about this year, if our OL can get back to the standard of play that we are used to, and if our secondary can just keep people in front of them and be competitive. I think this team can be really good. I expect our QBs have both gotten better, receivers are in good shape, and our front 7 on D will be stout as usual. But if the OL and DBs cant do it, this year could be worse than last.

Spring practice started this week. Has anyone been to see our Indians yet?

I think the biggest issue is if you are in a school district like Knox County. 28 (or so?) high schools that do not have a direct feeder system, so any of that stuff is definitely considered recruiting. But like in Kingsport both middle schools feed into the only high school in the district so shouldn’t be an issue, but I have heard that it doesn’t matter because as far as recruiting rules go TSSAA doesn’t recognize feeder schools

I heard Gaines will be DC, but no confirmation from the team in any way publicly.

Not to mention, I doubt they will continue to run the same offense now that Robbie Norris took off to Rye Cove. So new kids, with another new scheme. Not a great combo, but I really hope they are competitive. I want the DB-WR Rivalry to be entertaining.

Probably not much. Losing almost every playmaker from last years team...

Before we think about Maryville let’s worry about winning the conference. To me it gives us the best chance not having to worry about them until the quarterfinals, get some momentum through the first to rounds and then have an opportunity to make a run. 2 years ago we took it to the wire with them, hopefully we can get back to that point and push past that mountain. But we always talk about the Might Rebels but we all know semis go through Oakland right now and their momentum is at an all time high. Region 1 has such a tough road to the finals

Yep, and we should have beat them the second time we played them, led most of the game and blew it late. In the tournament we beat a team from every region in the state. Middle, West, then East. I’d say we are just fine

Real question is who is going to get the Defensive Coordinator job? I would assume Teddy Gaines is 1st in line, but I’m sure other people will be considered as well.

It is for Salyers. Heard from people close to him he would have to work 20 years in TN to retire, less than 10 in VA. Not sure about Norris though.

Everyone East of Knoxville hates Dobyns-Bennett.

His sense of entitlement is insane. Even his posts on facebook that aren't about football he just expects everyone to listen to everything he says since he is a former NFL player. His latest qualms were about the basketball jersey and that a student worker brought the bill to his kid. DB has had student workers since I went to school there and always delivered notes and I myself received a bill from a fellow student in 1986 for an overdue book that I forgot to turn in that they were charging me for... He always seems to want special treatment. He says since his son was kicked off the basketball team and he announced that he was transferring to Knox Catholic for football that its ridiculous that no coaches have spoken to him. When you show your rear end like you did at that Greeneville basketball game and then actively quit football generally people stop reaching out to you... Maybe I am crazy, but that doesn't seem very newsworthy.
