  1. I think Mt Juliet is an actual decent team, and even a good team. The next two games are much more important but it would be great to see OR play well and get some momentum going into the next two games.
  2. The HVA game was misleading because they are terrible. The offense has been a disappointment but part of the problem early was Jackson was hurt and missed two games. Another problem whether anyone wants to admit or not is that DB and West are just better than OR, especially up front. Farragut is better than OR up front but not anywhere else. If a team is better up front, then it makes it tough to run the ball because while the OR offensive line may be average, they won't handle a team with a very good D Line (DB, West, Farragut). If the Mt Juliet D Line is very good, then this will be a tough game for OR to win. The OR defense will hopefully keep OR in the game as usual, and the offense will hopefully do enough to win.
  3. While I agree with you on the importance of this game, OR has a very tough non region battle with Mt Juliet this week, so first things first. This game will be a tough one but I'm really looking forward to Powell coming to town next week!
  4. I don't think it would be good for OR to be one of the smallest 6A schools in the state. The talent level is less than West and Powell, and they are 5A. I would hope that OR ends up a large 5A, but we will find out soo, I guess. Exactly when do we find out?
  5. Is this MJ team better than last year's team? If so, MJ might "destroy" OR as you said a couple of weeks ago! OR is VERY inconsistent on offense and if the MJ defense is as good as advertised, then OR may not score at all. The OR defense is solid so neither team may score! LOL...I doubt OR "surprises" or "sneaks up on" MJ this year, after what happened last year.
  6. Do you mean the MJ game should be the final game to iron things out and get on the right track before Powell and Fulton?
  7. We have ALL of the answers, so it's a NO BRAINER!!!!!!!
  8. They've been practicing since early June so I hope they don't overdo it, but I'm not a coach so I guess they'll do what they think will serve them best. Plus, this time of the year you would think that they have lots of guys hurt to some degree so that's another reason not to overdo it. So I would hope they do treat it as an "off week" so a few guys can get back to 100%, give them the opportunity to re-energize, and get something achieved in practice all at the same time. But, there are lots of different ways to look at it and how to handle a week with no game.
  9. You know more about them than I do, but if they're tough on defense, then that's a concern. I don't have much confidence in the OR offense, so the defense better be ready to play, and they usually are. I wonder if MJ has lots of returners. A couple of weeks ago one of their posters said they would "destroy" OR, but he may be just running his mouth. Of course, they were undefeated at the time. Who is Rossview and are they traditionally any good?
  10. I'm glad that OR will be at home for a change. It seems like it has been forever since they played at the "Ship! And these will be quality opponents that are coming in!
  11. As far as the kids on the sideline are concerned, I would bet you that those who think they may actually get in the game are paying attention. I'm sure there are a few "foolish" kids on any team (OR included) who don't know how to act at home, at school, or on a football sideline. I, for one, have no idea what's going on with players on the sideline, because I'm watching the game. I doubt the coaches are watching what's going on behind them, and if they are, they should be fired immediately. I do know that Gaddis got their attention for the few that did too much talking during the clinic game, and I assume if he knew about sideline antics that were terrible, he would address that too, but I'm not sure how he or any of the coaches find that out, unless they read coacht. I've missed very few games in the last many, many years, and I've never noticed it to be a problem, but I admit to watching the game only, not the sidelines. I liked what OR nole said about the kids who spit, cussed, cried, and hated life after a loss but unfortunately, most don't seem to care that much anymore or they're too cool to ever show it, and would rather be the "ice cream eaters"! I hope OR gets ready for the last three games because I expect they will all be tough.
  12. Piling on coaches is a national pastime for people like us! Let's let them have it!!!!!!! LOL
  13. I'm not quite as negative as you are but I do have some concerns about how we will block what I suspect is a pretty good defense.
  14. What I mean is that many kids get offered who will never play D1 ball. I have nothing bad to say about the OR running back, I think he's a very good player.
  15. I agree....have to respect the guy
  16. You've already been quoted as saying MJ would "destroy" OR!
  17. I'll make a general statement and you can take it for what it's worth. First of all, D1 offers are a dime a dozen and doesn't make a player a D1 athlete. Secondly, being a good high school player doesn't make someone a D1 athlete. Thirdly, I saw a player on the OR team last year that I thought "might" be a D1 athlete, who hasn't looked like one this year. Finally, I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.
  18. I want to comment on your post but I also want to be gentle and proper at the same time. First of all, what you say is correct ON PAPER but not in reality, at least not from where I'm sitting. Let's just put it this way, some of the guys you mention just do not play well against top notch opposition. And I don't think this team has any D1 prospects, only a few good high school players. Injuries have taken away the team's fastest player, the team's ability to snap the ball with consistency, and the best running back on the team has been hurt all season and isn't up to par......he couldn't even outrun Karns or Clinton last week, but he did outrun Powell last year, who is faster than both of them. Plus, let's just say OR is never loaded with linemen. I'll be very interested to see how certain positions play against this last three opponents. We better hope the defense is on top of their game.
  19. You're right and I'll be surprised if the OR defense isn't ready, but he's a scary back
  20. Fulton or Oak Ridge? If you mean Fulton, I'll take your word for it because I know nothing about Fulton this year. You keep up with OR much more than I keep up with Fulton, which is none at all. If you mean OR, I'd say the offense is worse because two key players on offense are having very sub par seasons so far, but I hope that changes.
  21. I guess Clinton fans are just like their players....they run their mouths at 0-6.
